And it's at the beginning of the summer season, not the end, which makes it a better marketing opportunity for the people selling beer and tequila to Gringos that no self-respecting Mexicano would be caught dead drinking.

If you're lucky enough to live in a city with a real Mexican grocery store -- one that caters to people in the neighborhood, not churro-hunters from the 'burbs -- go see what's stacked up in their coolers this weekend, and on their shelves. Bring yourself home a little Tecate or Bohemia, or perhaps a nice bottle of Hornitos, and reflect for a bit on the fact that freedom also means the freedom to shuck off marketing hype.
