I once became curious about a certain image and tracked it back to find the origin. It came from a website that purported to actually be written and designed not by a person but by a cat.
BEIJING (AP) - Protests led by Buddhist monks against Chinese rule in Tibet turned violent Friday, with shops and vehicles torched and gunshots echoing in the streets of the ancient capital, Lhasa. A radio report said two people had been killed.
The European Union called on China to show restraint and Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, appealed to Beijing not to use force against protesters and to "address the long-simmering resentment of the Tibetan people."
?BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (AP) - International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge poured cold water Saturday on calls for a boycott of the Summer Games in Beijing over China's crackdown in Tibet, saying it would only hurt athletes.

Sure, sure Jacques, knowing how corrupt Olympic officials
have been in the past, I can only think your statement has more to do
with how fat your own personal wallet will get while the people of Tibet suffer
extreme brutality.

p/s a 6-day tour of the Caribbean? Hmmm, I thought the Olympics
are being held in China.
BEIJING (AP) - Violence in Tibet spilled over into neighboring provinces Sunday where Tibetan protesters defied a Chinese government crackdown. The Dalai Lama warned Tibet faced "cultural genocide" and appealed to the world for help.
I highly recommend the burgers at Paul's Big Game Tavern in Dubuque, Iowa. They have a machine custom made for the bar maybe 75 years ago that broils them on both sides at once. And they're dirt cheap.
And then of course there's the Billy Goat in Chicago, which I really think got its rep not from the Cubs curse, or the SNL parody, but because Chicago Trib employees (including Mike Royko) could get there without having to go outside -- it's under an elevated section of roadway.
Offhand I don't recall any memorable burgers on the Big Island. There was a cut-rate pizza joint I remember favorably, though.
Yooz wuz here, when?
true, now there are no burgers worth mentioning on the BI but @ one time we did have buffalo & ostrich burgers right here in town but no mo, although I do make a mean Mahi burger, so if you're ever this way....
My ladyfriend and I visited the island some years ago. After three days in a Maui condo we moved to Hapuna Beach and camped for a week. It was 7 bucks a night. We bought groceries in town and cooked our meals in the communal kitchen, meeting some very nice and generous locals over our coffee pot. It was the first time I ever killed a scorpion or encountered a wild mongoose. The beach itself was heaven, one perfest bodysurg after another all day, and damn near deserted.
We finished the trip with a couple days in another condo on Kauai, and I must confess I appreciated the access to plumbing and a clean, soft bed. But I'd go back to Hapuna ina heartbeat. I can't imagine I've been there for the last time.

Comments for Friday, March 14, 2008: I Can Has Cheezburger Panel at SXSW 2008
From the reports I've seen this week, I feel like SXSW has become Spring Break for keyboard geeks.
Or maybe it always was?
Or are you just focusing on the silly parts?

BOYCOTT THE CHINA OLYMPICS (only civilized countries deserve to hold these games)

Where is the UN condemnation of China?
Are all the UN delegates too busy with their $5000/hr hookers?
They only spring into action to condemn ONE COUNTRY
and we all know which ONE that is.
We know she's a vegetarian, so it was strange seeing her picking one up.
I hope the RB team had fun at SXSW.
But that did look like a mighty fine burger.
Now this is a buger!
