Again with Africa ????
nobody cares if youre are first, second, third, forth and so on! douches
Yeah, yeah, where is MOLLY?????
Molly mentioned on another RB video that she’s back in the UK at the moment waiting for her visa to get sorted out.
As for the geographical origin of RB’s content, I’m sure Andrew and the rest of the team would love to have a global network of correspondents but the cost of that would likely be prohibitive.
Molly where are you!!!
this is win
Ebay some statues! :D
Cool vid!!:)
Is it just me or do 99% of Rocketboom’s videos focus on New York or Africa?
WTF
what’s wrong with learning about Africa? :P
“Africa”?
I pray you’re not referring to a continent as you would a “country”. Unless, of course, you’re, too, becoming sick of seeing things from “North America”.
Jesus you’re dumb.
You assumed what i said then criticize it. What right do you have to assume what i said? You took what i said and made it very personal and forgive me if i did in anyway. As crayjay3 said that Rocketboom’s videos focusing more on New York or Africa then it used to be. Remember do not assume what people say in the internet.
not first
Great video, nice story….
I’m glad to see people turning garbage into art. It’s much nicer than seeing cellphones go into a landfill.
I didn’t assume shit. You, verbatim, said “Africa”, clearly referring to it. All I did was take YOUR words and merely applied it to something more appropriate (in this case the example of “North America”) as a sort of screen to make sure that you *weren’t* referring to it in such a retardedly stupid manner. It was then up to *you* to differentiate between the two.
I thought that was very clear but apparently it wasn’t for something trying to save face, perhaps from a mistake already made.
You’re a moron. I never disputed that they have a focus on different *areas* in the African continent, as well as on NYC, but your vulgar egotism blinded your ability to intelligently think about what I said. My criticism was your use of the word “Africa” in the same breath as a city (ie New York), as if to say that they were somehow comparable (if only implicitly).
Like ffs, at the very least differentiate between the two for the less educated out there. Wouldn’t be hard.
And it wasn’t “Africa” as a whole that they were focusing on, but rather different areas, just like how New York City *is* just one small area on the continent of North America. See? This is the problem with people like you and your terminology and the implicit lack of respect you display with impunity.
wow, what an overreacting asshole…he clearly didn’t say what you thought he said
It is a shame there was no link to buy the birds, maybe rocket boom should set up a “safe” shop and sell a few for him. I want one
Nice Video and all you LoveBirds in the comments section…. get a room!!
Ill bet he can eat a carrot in 1.3 seconds :D
And your evidence/reasoning for why you think this is……????? What exactly?
And yet i’m somehow over-reacting by presenting thought-out, articulated points referencing *his* own words.
Right.
Dude, unless you have some reasonable objection against my points (and trust me, iw as very reasonable until he started responding with crap), please don’t fill this comment section with spam.
I ask why people watch the Rocketboom videos when so many comments have nothing to do with the subject? Does being first to view something make you special? Who first was the first to see 911? Who cares? Do you remember who was the anchorperson on that tragic day? I watch Rocketboom because they are making an effort to open our eyes beyond the day to day mundane life. If you have a problem with a story, try going going out and taping your own story. I am sure Rocketboom would love to show it. As a former environmental artist who was commissioned to build sculptures all over the world I was touched by this man’s small effort to open our eyes one bird at a time. Now I got to get out and appreciate the world this website has turned me onto.
why o why does goverments still supports africa with the already so high tax money.
the people living there is a blemish on humanity.
this will get lot’s of negative feedback but it’s true
look at al the historical marvels and technological advances that came from europe, asia, america,
the greatest that africans was able to built was a straw hut.
they never learnt how to grow crops, barely invented tools, and so forth
it’s quite sad to say. but the original african is an inferior human
well look at south africa its just like any modern country
its just that a lot of the tribes and stuff choose to stay in their ways its the only way that they know
but what you said is true and i’m not mad at what you said =]
@Duirward
Bet you liked Nazi concentration camps then.
yeah, actually, yes. they should work more on latin america.
i guess
writng articulately is different from reasoning. you are taking his words out of context. just because he said africa and not senegal it doesn’t mean he was referring to africa as a city, and his respond was very appropriate, even though you started out insulting him. grow up
That guy sounds French
yes i’m sure every european person, or every asian, or every american person invents stuff every day! i’m sure you grow crops and invent tools.
a whole society shouldn’t get it’s reputation from the accomplishment of a few productive individuals. did those people choose to be born in africa? did you choose to be born in a developed country? you could say yes, but you’d be lying. So stop being such a dick and disgracing the few productive individuals in your history you are taking credit for.
i wouldnt say that, egypt for example, was one of the greatest societies in its time. it also has architecture marvels that were 1000s of years ahead of its time
This man has beautiful eyes.
I am missing the link between the birds and the cellphones. While the other recycled materials are reshaped and remodelled to look like parts of a bird, the cellphones remain cellphones, in what seems to me merely eye-catching expediency. A few birds at the beginning had not the cellphone on the back, and I suspect we have seen mostly the tourist section of the artworks of this man. If it’s helping him to make ends meet, good for him.
Fleece the tourists, Mamadou, you’ll get them happy and they deserve no better.
i want some unused cell phones…
it is french…………Senegal is an ex-french colonial
according to human genom project, we’re all African under the skin, our DNA proves it………they’re always superior otherwise there won’t be a human civilization…..

When I see modern tech. in Senegal, at the grasroot level, being used for art, I feel the the future for the world can be great.
wow those are my kinda birds….i’m gonna channel Walt tonight and ask him if disneyland can open up a cellphone BIRD museum….yeah yeah yeah….
datz what walt would do…..
please donate your used cellphones to this man….
oh…what’s his address? I’ll send him my Mickey phone….along with a mickey of course, why do you think I’m always smiling
SaintCog>you are amazing for remarking on the mans eyes, and not obsessing over his situation like some other people.
lllFile13IIII>amen to your comment!.
Yeah, that’s true, it’s interesting how his eyes seem to gleam.
It’s only “inventing” if it has never been done before.
If they make tools, it is discovering, not inventing.
You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, which is a real shame…
thats really cool!
How very interesting.
Senegalese speak french as their second language. Why do I take so long to realise?
i just wanna puke…. at first when he was hammering a nail into a phone it thought he had no idea what it was.
check out JesusChristLovesforever blogspot com and tell everyone.
spreading this site is very important to ensure World Peace and the Glory of Jesus the Christ GOD FOREVER AMEN
I really like this video! And who cares if it’s about “Africa”, it’s just cool that somebody can create beautiful art with cell phones.
Oh, and I have added Rocketboom to my list of “10 Pretty Awesome Sites”, because I think this site is… awesome.

NwZ2 & Duirward suck
Eurotrippin & wildcard547 are great
Respect each other!
Discovering is finding something inventing is creating of nonexsistence.
Bill Nye has a new show called Stuff Happens, and he did a bit on e-waste, microchips and batteries have valuable things and harmfull things in them, the chips have gold and silver, and other stuff such as the batteries are, well, toxic, depending on what kind of battery it is. Could be mercury, lead, and diff. kinds of acid.
should’ve focused more on the birds
nd any way i’m glad u posted sumthing
sorry should have been specific. everything south of the sahara desert. and i don’t really count egyptians as africans as in those days they weren’t of black african ethnicy
why do you asume i do? i don’t approve of the holocaust.
i merely see the differences in races. and wich have or haven’t contributed much to the accomplishments of humanity as a whole
There is no difference in the inelegance of the different human races. It’s hard to invent something on a freaking desert…

Sweet
How can I own one of his art work? I would like to buy one of his birds.

I have found some information on the Net for M’sieur Mamadou Tall Diedhiou via Google and there are quite a number of links concerning him and his art. I’m going to attempt to give you some links using the hypertext markup language allowed. I have not attempted HTML in a setting such as this before so, I’m crossing my fingers for luck. Very tightly.
Here are some sites on the Net for M. Diedhiou.
M. Diedhiou lives here provided you enter Niomoune, Bignona, Senegal.
Here is a listing of some of his creations.
The gentleman who reported on M’sieur Diedhiou is M’sieur Cheikh Darou Seck and you can find him here.
They are, both, wonderful men. I can tell.
Oh! Within all of those links and sub-links, you will find M’sieur Diedhiou’s poem, “Sad Birds.” Very touching.
Bon chance!
Oh my goodness. You must read M’sieur Seck’s poem, You are my hero if …. It’s about half way down the page.
I wish you excellent karma-phala, M’sieur Seck.
it’s sad that they stick to only one medium.
There is DEFINITELY differences, very small differences yes, but still differences.
For example our skincolor or the fact that most (shit, forgot the specific country) of the people in a certain country have certain DNA-traits that allows their body to run faster.
BUT we are still to similar to be called different “races”
some poetic stuff he says at the end lol.
great thing! very cute birds, and very interesting connection to cellphones also
what language? sounds a lot like french
It is. But the only French speaker is Mamadou. The others speak Creole.
In biology, a race is any inbreeding group, including taxonomic subgroups such as subspecies, taxonomically subordinate to a species and superordinate to a subrace and marked by a pre-determined profile of latent factors of hereditary traits.
You’re thinking of species, there are different human races.
Those are some perrrty words you be speakin there par’ner
pretty cool, but like half your videos are about africa.
No. Senegalese people speak Wolof in addition to French (France colonized Senegal)
Oh thanks for telling me. I wasn’t sure, but since I heard french-like words I though it might have been a Creole. I admit my language knowledge is limited. Thanks again.
Liked that phrase :D ” Les oiseaux sont les messagers du soleil”
