  19. That is a great question and one that for the moment, not even the most advanced consciousness could fathom, “what are we supposed to be doing”, if you ask yahoo or google maybe the answer is: “stop twittering and get a life” and the answer would probably be: “stop meddling and get a twitter”.

Although, combining real life events with constant updates might just be the answer.

AAAAHHHH, texting random thoughts to friends and twittering to the world that you are going to play the drums or that you just finished your taxes….

    Seriously, who gives a shit?

I’m not against texting, twittering, web surfing, or E-mailing but the large majority is crap, a waste of time, and demonstrates a need for attention.

Ha! Loved this ep. Such a nice, concise explanation of where the various intellect streams are coming from.

Does anyone else see a really cool convergence out there in a year or two?

Keyword search is nice. The real money will be in helping people sift through all that raw info for the nuggests they want, in an even more sophisticated way. But how, as our astute host nails here, do you monetize that? RB program geeks, meet at the usual place, 2 a.m. sharp, and we will discuss future plans for world domination.

You have a number? How did you get a number? I’ve been here forever and I never got a number! Who else has a number … anybody? How come I didn’t get a number?

On the other hand maybe not. Once we all have numbers we just become part of the collective and resistance becomes futile. Hey, that’s kind of like Twittering.

I really don’t think Twitter and Google compare well. Google is a search engine that brings you information on subjects, whereas Twitter is a social engine that can bring you information on people. As I really couldn’t care less about 99.9999985% of the people on the planet (I did the math), and of those people, most don’t use Twitter, it really is useless to me. Google, on the other hand, brings be relevant information I need, so is far superior.

That was so very well done. I didn’t realize that twitter had gotten to the stage where it worth searching. I thought it was more status update or lj blogstyle.

The example shown using a movie search in google didn’t turn up the results I normally get. The first thing I get when searching a movie title is a list of shown times of local theatres and then further links to other movies showing and reviews.

Just a quick comment on the user base numbers between Twitter and Jaiku.

When Google acquired Jaiku they closed for new sign ups. Instead one could leave an e-mail address in order to get notified when they reopened.

Well … they never reopened as planned and one and a half (or is it two?) years later Google open sourced it instead.
At least they have opened for sign ups again.

Bottom line is that because of no new sign ups the user base could not rise and then of cause the traffic levels became stagnant. People wanting to try Jaiku after all the rave reviews back in 2007 could not and instead stayed with or signed up for Twitter and later FriendFeed, Identi.ca and so on.

Anyhoo … just wanted to add some perspective on the traffic levels mentioned in the video.
