  5. If I see that guy on the street, I will walk up and threaten him. His font makes my eyes bleed on a more-than-weekly basis. And I don’t care if he’s a cute lil swiss or german or dutch man with a cute story of him copying the archie comics, I’ll still chase him down the street.

    Why no Y?

So how come Ww gets to be listed twice?
It’s already a double u (and it impersonates a double v) and now you give it double spot, throwing out our beloved Y.

Please save the Y. Y does so much work for us (Sometimes a vowel, sometimes not). It has such a dignified pedigree, descended from the noble Greek Upsilon, and thought to be a cousin of Hebrew Vav and Arabic Waw.

Yet still, even in this day, is persecuted and banished in other languages’ alphabets. And now we do the same?
It’s an Obamanation that this kind of prejudice still goes on in our language today.

Comic sans is definitely NOT the greatest font of all time.
It has Its uses, bit it cant be universal.
    Personally,I’m HELVETICA all the way!
It’s the world’s most universal font.

anyway I consider CS being kind of revolution. guess why. noone likes it :) it means children love it, this I can guess just without any doubt, but everytime I ever suggested someone to use it, he refused… I feel this design to be step to typewriter and step and sniff to hand writing … but it seems, in final, happily, not comic for me (b. name is pft.), and probably people love to be formal to ice, so they feel “stupid” to express leeway. I like lucida and consolas also, but comics RLZ

So many companies have their logos in standard Microsoft fionts. It’s a good game to play if you’re on a long drive - as the trucks drive past, you have to be the first to say which font the logo is in :D

Comic comment: Helvetica walks into a bar. Bartender says, “We don’t serve your type — leave now, or I’ll call the serif.”

Too bad that for font creation there aren’t similar agencies to ones, say for example, for music publishers and songwriters like the Harry Fox Agency or ASCAP to collect royalties. Or are there? This guy could be much richer. But, alas, Microsoft probably owns those font rights anyway, right?

By the way, my new font collection, due out next spring, will be called Gothic Surprise: the light weight normal font will closely resemble Sans-serif typeface, but when you italicize, the letters will suddenly have a flowing, lace-like flare shooting from the top of each and connecting into the sentence above. And when you heavy-weight bold, the entire word will crash to the bottom of the paragraph, inserting itself somewhere into that last sentence. And if you try to blockquote a section, it will turn your paragraph into a clickable mouseover ASCII art image of Daffy Duck with the hyperlink leading to a random Wikipedia entry. I’m still waiting on the permission from LoonyTunes for the Daffy use; and I’ll announce the release date right here in the comics section! ciao-ciao, y’all.

It’s just a font, people. No reason for violence.

Now Windows 95 and Bob, on the other hand….

I remembr watching people line up at computer stores the night before Windows 95 was to be released. I doubt that will ever happen again. We have too many collective scars from Bill Gates’ Crap in Progress Mode of Release to celebrate like that again.

And for those who have not read it: “Watchmen” is probably the best graphic novel I have ever read. Alan Moore is a sick, sick man but in a very clever way. I had no idea the lettering inspired that goofy font.

Anxiously awaiting the movie on 3/6, now that it appears the various rights issues have been resolved. I keep thinking it has to suck, but the trailers have knocked my socks off.
