Let us not forget how far so much of the world has yet to go to get to the place so many of us take for granted.
I would think the act of burning the methane would deal with any odor issues just as the mercaptans added to natural gas are destroyed when you light the stove…? Is there a chemist in the house?
Thanks to you Andrew and the RocketTeam for bringing Ruud’s reports to light. This was a very good one.
Excellent report Rudd, thanks.
Well I’m gonna’ say it if nobody is…yesterday b-man was first, I was second & leron was third & when I looked later in the day there were 50 tubers comments ahead of ours. I thought they were being shifted to the bottom of the page?
btw b-man, I saw Bella & the Flecktones just last week when they played at our town theater (which was paid for by Richard Smart, ex thespian & owner of Parker Ranch) Future Man rocks!
Hey dudes & dudettes; I’m back! Almost 3 weeks of next-to-no connectivity sure does take its toll on a man in this day and age. I just got caught up on all the RB episodes I missed and sincerely hope, with her displayed driving skills, that Ellie didn’t drive back from LV!!
It was nice to have Ruud’s report balance out the CES extravagancies with another nation’s daily reality. Surely some form of basic education could be implemented to teach those people that “flying toilets” are NOT the way to go? Maybe toss the doody in the paper into a bucket outside for starters and then dump the bucket in a communal tank somewhere and let the methane energy guys tap into that as well? It would be interesting to find out who funds the building of the facilities.
In case you are interested this article answered my questions and explained a lot more too.
I was thinking what would be the best way to respond to Kam’s seeing Bela & The Flecktones in concert and bio-latrines
and all I could come up with was this.
first!
hmm, interesting!
Very interesting indeed. I’m glad there are still ways to recycle that kind of material. Hopefully they’ll implement this in other countries.
Fourth! lol
Anyways, that’s pretty funny but also quite interesting. I didn’t think that the video was going in that direction. xD
Sounds like they’re #1 at #2 !
they throw their shit around??
I love rocket boom
“Here, Kenya, I’ve got some crap for ya!”
Whoever thought that phrase would ever be welcomed by Kenyans?
ThAT is freakin awesome!!
Both, even!
In a #3rd world country ;)
Hey wait a minute, somethings missing here, could it be….tubers!
They’ve been flushed. Always knew that was a magic toilet seat.

The critic’s symbol should be the tumble-bug: he deposits his egg in somebody else’s dung, otherwise he could not hatch it ~Mark Twain
Why did someone mark this as spam?!
It’s not insulting, just carrying on the joke…
I kan haz eco-poo nao pleeze?
Woot! Dutch! :)
And yeah, it’s a good project as far as I can tell from watching this vid.
lol
No offense, but I am sick of Kenya on Roc.Boom!!
i can download porn to a mobile device pretty much anywhere in the civilized world and these poor fuckers have to cook with their poo gas.
when will the socio-economic inequality end? somebody get these kids an iphone!
Turning feces into fuel would seem to be an obvious solution to two important problems. I don’t know why this isn’t done all over. If Kenya can afford to do it, other places can too.
Very interesting. I really enjoy this kind of variety on Rocketboom.
gibberish gibberish gibberish gibberish FLYING TOILET gibberish gibberish gibberish
wow, I weep
man, that’s the #4th time this week that’s happened to me. :P
Great to see innovation from thirld world countries.
Lol I’d sit indoors and throw paper balls at ppl just to see them run away
Holy Crap!! What a fliptastic idea!
I “2nd” that motion :)
Because Big Oil companies will buy-out the idea and flush it down the toilet :)
It’s better than making jankum with it!
It’s better than playing Janken with it!
I detect a subtle shift in the tenor of this board since the Tubies found their way to it.
Ugh.
I think I’m going to take a little break and see if things improve.
i learned about this. this is a really good idea, but the con is that the pressure is unstable and may explode all of a sudden.
No smoking please….
i know they did a similar thing with a landfill in Orange County, CA (Newport) so they could build a development on it.
I will never go to kibera…ati you’re walking around and a shonde hits you on the head? oh no hapana
Wow, so what. Landfills do this all the time.
They imprison the gases responsible to global warming and sentence it to public service! Neat, huh?
