I’ll bet a bottle of good tequila that at least one of the RB staff has sat on the Balto statue.

Yeah, I’d say you’re about 1-foot-11 if that picture is to be believed.

Note the brightness of the metal in the sitting area, and on his head and shoulders. The statue was all one color when they unveiled it in 1925 - on youtube there’s video of Balto himself attending the ceremony. The color differences are the result of people sitting on it, sometimes hugging it, since that day.

There is a big-studio cartoon called “Balto” that features live action at the beginning and end at the statue in the park. The cartoon itself sucks, except for Bob Hoskins voicing a goose with a Russian accent. Yes, a goose. Told you it sucked.

  15. WOW. Even though it’s a repeat (May 7, 2007) I really love it and think it’s quite appropriate as the 999th RB episode. I found it as it is one of my “phonies” which I had called tecq???? Looking at it this time I knew it was Central Park. And besides being an excellent production, presentation and music, it brought back memories of my years in NYC when I used to bicycle up to CP and wander through the wonders that always could be seen. And it was a fun bicycle ride dodging cars and carages on the CP loop and then carooming down 5th ave (downhill) to my 13th street abode.

P.S. Having the wrong date on the Phony I had to go through many of my archives. Damn you guys have been wonderful - Joanne and group! Have a good weekend.

    1. oops I had the wrong date above. It was originally aired Friday May 4, 2007. FYI - When I say an episode gets my Phony award - it means I like it so much that I have put it on my phone (which is a poor man’s Iphone). My other personal accolade to RB is when I put an EP on my eeepc(4G) so maybe that can be my eeeps classification.

It looks fun. And I can’t imagine anyone who has managed to stay alive billions of years having been able to do so without a sense of humor or a sense of play. So, I simply felt that God , feeling whimsical, might like imitating this once in a while. It’s creative and intelligent, and delightful. So why wouldn’t he do such things? …hmm ? He made us didn’t he? :) we the talking monkeys.

OK well, believe what you want, but…

    A. “god” is not “alive”
    B. no, I don’t think he made us all, we ARE god
    C. if an all-powerful entity did exist it wouldn’t retain your standards of creativity. Omnipotence allows for contemplation of all points of knowledge simultaneously, so it sure as hell wouldn’t “spend time” putting musical themes together. Essentially, all matter is it’s song.

Interesting belief system you have. I’m sorry that i implied that my sense of creativity matched God’s exactly. I do hope, though, for all of our sakes, that God is not boring. :)

Meeting with Joanne in Central Park is a dream, sadly. She’s attractive and I’m in Denmark.

The tune is rather catching and I’ve been listening to it several times. One thing really irritates me though. I know the finger tapping clip is looping, but I can’t stop thinking how tired her fingers must be at the end. I can feel it in my fingers too.

Apart from that it’s a nice little thing, the video.
