    I second the Happy Anniversary.

For a minute there I thought you were winking at me like that creepy Sara Palin woman does. Although I must say, you are an anti-palin and would get my vote any day.

From a hopeful have, a possible have-not but devoted viewer regardless.

    Good Monday to you.

In the Future, we will all be French, taunt Englishmen, and translocate by banging coconut shells together.

Both African & European swallows will Still be too small to transport coconuts; -even if the bird tried to grip one by the husk.

Hey I think that I identify the most with the troll. And doing facial contortions makes tones ring in my ear all the time, nothing new there.

And as for supersonic I have a story. Once upon a time I was driving across the desert in NM or AZ–I can’t remember which–listening to the local news on the radio. It seems that some guy who worked at some military installation somewhere stole a rocket booster used for boosting the speed of planes taking off from short warship decks, and one evening strapped the thing to the trunk of his car to see how fast he could go across the desert. The news reported that only fragments of metal, and an identifying tooth were found on a mountainside several hundred feet above the flat road. Some guys will try anything for a thrill.

That was a very nice, subtle Amanda impression there for the 4th anniversary, although very little that Amanda ever did could be seen as subtle.

Happy Anniversary, and keep up the good work!

Wouldn’t it be cool if two people placed slices of bread at opposite points of the globe, creating an Earth Sandwich?

    Oh, wait….

“Las Cruces International Airport”??? Maybe if they have a Cessna 172 that makes the 50-mile trip to Juarez once a month.

if humans use biotechnology to improve themselves but without changing their DNA then their DNA will devolve into becoming useless and destructive so that humans will become dependent on biological tinkering without which they will die or live as horribly mutated monsters. however if biotechnology is able to improve to the point where DNA can be constantly rewritten at will in all of our cells, then the monsterism etcetera will be easily remediable.

The technology dependant will live in offices, no need for muscles, they will be short and ugly. The ones who decide to go back to nature will be tall and muscular.
Why do they think we need to be like Olympic athletes to work on a computer?

Assuming we don’t manage to blow ourselves up, a very large assumption indeed, I’m thoroughly convinced that the next evolutionary step will be delayed inevitably because of our monogamous ways. But I don’t know :)

Why put in stale news? That’s one of the most insulting things to people who keep up on the news is to see people try and pull out an article from a year or two ago and try and pass it off as novel when it’s just filler. Why not be forward to everyone and announce that it’s some interesting filler old news that they may or may not have heard previously?

You are probably more correct (hence the I don’t know) :)

Better to be silent and be thought a fool then to open your mouth and prove it beyond all doubt :)

I will say however that if girls have babies from more than one man that encourages diversity —> encourages natural selection —> encourages evolution.

If on the other hand a girl has seven babies from the same man that is seven babies swimming in the same gene pool.

It’s a bit difficult for me to explain but I’ll try.
Natural selection results from certain heritable traits that an animal (or human) has to give them either a smaller or bigger chance to produce offspring. If a trait is favorable in promoting reproduction ONLY (survival aswell because it increases reproduction chance) it will be passed on more than other traits and in the long run dominate in that species. In humans there’s probably very few traits that would stand in the way of reproducing.

Wow, they brought up the topic of eugenics at the end… there are so many greatly contrasting pros and cons to that argument that I should even start… but I will ^.^

Clearly it has benefits to human productivity and longevity, but is that really all we’re about? Are we simply existing to make existence better for the next round of existence? And what of those who are born naturally; are they now a lesser being because the weren’t designed to be perfect? I could go all day with this… =P

    More on that thought:

How would abortion be viewed? Would we be destroying “imperfect” humans (those that aren’t genetically designed)?

And this all had even been done before: see “Nazi eugenics” on wikipedia… I don’t think we need another group of people coming around thinking they’re the only race that should exist…

  58. The clips of the video games at the beginning. I have seen the one with atronaut on the asteroid before. I don’t get the connection with RocketBoom. Is there one?

There were a few words phrases that I could not understand. I played them both back several times and I am still missing something. First time this has happened with you. Happens with my kids all the time.
    1) Right after the segment on antipodr: “Noticable enough to (file?) a prediction…”
    2) “(Somebody) of the London School of Economics posits that racial (events?) will be eventually ironed out …”

Then there was the bit about the trolls:
“The technologically dependent of us will evolve into tall , intelligent, attractive creatures that (coequlled?) graciles and the rest of you will (devolve?evolve) into stupid ugly trolls (dust robots?)… some of us will be designed with constitution …”

I wonder if you have it backward. The technologically INDEPENDENT graciles will continue to be the ideal, while the stupid ugly trolls will be dependent on technology. The stupid ugly trolls will continue to proliferate, while the ideals will stagnate. Sad state of affairs in any case.

And what about Count what’s-his-name the 6th, son of Count what’s-his-name the 5th. I suspect hidden meaning, but on the other hand, you could just be being funny.
