    1. Obama a terrorist? Now as a McCain supporter for honor and history in politics, I remember President Bush clearly sharing a cigar with a selection of Osama Bin Laden’s family within days of 9/11. Connection to terrorists enough to sway an election?

Not much different than the anti-McCain hate fest in Manhattan a few weeks back done by the the other side. Oh, I forgot, its OK if the other side does it. Democrats can do no wrong. My mistake.

No one said it’s okay for Democrats to act hatefully. I didn’t hear about Democrat hate speeches in Manhattan, what did they say? Did they threaten the life of McCain, or say that he is a terrorist? Did they make racial slurs about him? I work in Manhattan, but somehow all this missed me.

tyco, you’ve proven there are vulgar and sometimes fat people on both sides.

Did you feel threatened in the midst of that NYC crowd? I did not but I confess, I was born about 30 blocks from that spot, so maybe I’m just used to it. The mob in Pennsylvania felt like it was ready to throw stuff.

I used to go see a lot of sickos at rallies, up to and including the KKK and the Nazis. I have seen crowds descend into riot more than once. And I have often felt the contempt I felt watching today’s video, the desire to stick a fist in Little Obama Guy’s face, just to stop that laugh. But as a reporter you get a lot less stories filed when you get yourself arrested. You learn to just smile a little and keep your thoughts to yourself.

Hey lady, the name is pronounced A-yers, not Eye-ers. That was not an accent. You have his name wrong. I guess you haven’t heard it on cable TV often enough, huh? Don’t fret. Someone of your intellect is bound to pick it up sooner or later.

It chills me that these people will vote. But I am not scared. I believe in my heart there are more of us this time. We are better organized than we were in 2004, there are already lawyers standing by in key states, and there are a lot of 20-year-olds who were 16 when Bush got re-elected who like Obama a lot. My local Obama office is flooded with them. They’re kinda cute, trying to run their phone banks, clueless to what makes for good calls and bad calls. (Hint: stop calling the undecideds. Anyone still undecided at this point is unbalanced.) But their forthrightness and passion and optimism are genuine, and contagious. And they heading in the right direction.

I regret I haven’t spent as much time on this board of late. But I’ve been busy, and will be busy for the next few weeks. There are calls to make and doors to knock on, and data to be entered. On Election Day I’d like to be driving a 15-passenger van around, taking people to the polls, a so-called “knock and drag team.” That’s about the most fun I’ve ever had.

I’m not forking out as much cash as I did in 2004, because the Dems finished the election with $30 million in the bank, which still pisses me off, and because Obama doesn’t really need it at this point. He can run a full spread of TV ads in 30 states. You know you’re successful when the GOP gets on you for outspending them.

I did kick $5 to Saxby Chambliss’ opponent thanks to a Reddit link that collects donations for good candidates. Amazing what computers let us do.

But mostly I am giving my time, and I urge everyone else to do the same. The madness must end. We must do whatever we can.

I foresee only one night off in the near future, the regular Rocketboom Fan Club meeting at kam’s place tomorrow night.

        Then it’s back to work.

That video is a non-sequitur. The difference between the people on today’s Rocketboom and the people in your video is that the people on Rocketboom are definitely Republicans, and the people in your video are just random, entirely disorganized people.

I don’t even understand a lot of what the video is trying to convey. Why did the overlay say the random people on the street in NYC are intellectuals? That seems pretty nuts.

Posting this is divisive and inaccurate. Yes, unfortunately there is hatred and ignorance on both sides. Focusing on the worst of people does little to help bring us together. I can understand that there is frustration in economy. I can understand that people are desperate for some solution to the situation they find themselves in. But I am sad that humanity has learned nothing since the days of Hitler.

Why must we always blame societies problems on one particular group of people?

Im just scared that idiots like that are allowed to form the future nation by voting. some folks should inform themselves at least marginally before they form a political oppinion about any given topic.

Hatred, in all of its forms, is not to be tolerated in a just, honorable society. Regardless of which side of any debate. If we as members of this country called the USA don’t learn how to get along with each other, it will be at the peril of us all. Forget who was behind this video, or which side it was. Just stop it and get along, or risk losing what little respect we have left for each other. Good luck to all, I will be glad when the next 14 days is over, whatever the outcome.

One of the greatest ironies in the US is that its the small town Jesus-red states that are so worried about terrorism compared to say New York who are ambivalent to terrorism and oppose Bush and his so-called “anti-terrorist” policies. And its these same small-town pieces of shit that call for executions, violence and killings of muslims, arabs, africans, gays, anyone different to themselves, and the like that exhorts domestic terrorism. People like McVeigh, the KKK, and Fred Phelps.

Transplant these vacuous ignorant trash to 1930s Europe and they would be the Hitler Youth. Transplant them to any middle eastern state and they would join al-Quaeda, or any other intolerant, bigoted extremist group that loves violence and killings.

They are deathly afraid of terrorists while they themselves are terrorists.

Slavery is dead and racism should be too. Kudos to Obama for persevering through the hatred and name calling, in hopes of making our country better than Mccain or any other white christian president has.

It is just really sad to see that this kind of hatred and cultural xenophobia still exist. I watched the other video above that was trying to show the other side of the coin, with the disrespectful (assumed) Obama supporters in Manhattan. And even though they were disrespectful (I hardly think it something to be condoned), i still feel as though the pro-mccain/palin supporters in the first video were far worse. Boos, flipping the bird, thumbs down…eh, it’s bad, but not pure hateful unadulterated bigotry and ignorance. What they did there scares me a lot.

On the one hand, it is a bit frightening to know that they have a vote come November 4th…but on the other hand, I have hope that by having more and more people interested and involved in the political process, perhaps some of those evil-spewing people will become just a bit less ignorant over the course of time; and perhaps, someday, they will be able to make a truly informed voting decision.

Perhaps the educational reforms Obama plans to make while in office will end up helping them see the error of their ways. We can only hope.

Uh, THAT’S the democracy we’re “gifting” Iraq with? What a joke. I wouldn’t want to be a Black Republican waiting in that line to see Palin.

So, the Klan is alive and well and shops at the Gap. Looks like the economic downturn hasn’t made any of them is a meal though.

The same ugliness seeped out in Australia when Pauline Hanson created and led the One Nation political party. She represented the “regular Australians” (read: white) who didn’t like foreigners (anyone brown) “taking over” (being in) her country - including the Aborigines who were already there when her folks washed up on shore in prison boats, but I digress….. She whipped up a lot of Klanish frenzy too, but eventually, the sewage drained back down the toilet where it belonged. Hopefully the same will happen here.

It was never a secret why my Dad left Portage as soon as he possibly could. He was set to work as a child laborer, picking coal, and he lost the tips of two of his fingers in machinery; experiences that left him with a life-long impression. He was a life-long Democrat. Dad and I went back there to visit when I was a kid, and we looked out on what remains of the dam there in Johnstown; a tragic demonstration of Trickle-Down Economics, literally.
