I say NO to the Yes men. When they held the paper up to the bulls ass, that was the epitome of their statement. How many trees did it take to create 1.2 million newspapers. How much money was wasted printing this bull shit. This is about as stupid as me getting my mug on a fake Times magazine for Man of the Year.

plnety of oil in the world we are getting no oil from Iraq thatd for damn sure. I did put a sail on my 70 SS Nova and it just didnt seem the same as firing up that 572 blown big block and even a powerful electric motor still wont give that same feeling. Though a electric motor could run the 8 second 1/4 mile, but thats some battery power. What would i need to do to convert my Nova to elcetric and still run the 8s? COST also please

    am I reading this right?

    your addicted to “power”?
you need more power for your boat?
are you dumping oil into the lakes by using a block motor?
am i fu%%%ng reading this right?

YOU SEE FOLKS! THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE TO WHY AMERICANS ARE FIGHTING IRAQIES.

THEY WANT POWER! THEY WANT OIL!
AND THEY’LL SEND YOUR FAMILIES TO DIE JUST TO GET IT

    Oh, how precious.

Let me echo Kam’s sentiments re: more dead trees.

And maybe this doesn’t matter to the masses, but no journalist could ever mistake that for a real NYT front page. They got the font and format wrong and tombstoned the banner heds. Morons.

I’m sorry, maybe it’s because they were screwing with my favorite soon-to-be-dead medium. But I don’t see this as creating positive energy or expanding anyone’s possibilities.

It’s a new era, goddam it, as of last Tuesday. We should be capable of better. This is just waste.

Y’know, screw the trees, here’s a what if that puts that to shame.
Let’s just say that 1.2 million people actually read that rag & let’s just say one of them was as mother with two sons fighting there, one of them already dead from a bomb & she sees this headline & her first thrilling feeling is a rush of joy that her only remaining son will be safe & coming home. I can’t describe her next heartbreaking feeling when she discovers it to be nothing but a joke, some stupid prank.

Yes I love horsepwer, I dont own a boat, I dont dump oil anyplace I recycle my old oil products. Not sure what a block motor is I have a 572 cubic inch big block Chevy engine with a 6-71 blower in my 70 SS Nova. Nothing electric can replace that sound of that engine at idle or when you put your foot into the GAS peddle. I do not know where you got this ideal of a boat but it was cute.

This is what the Times does already. They try to mold society’s thinking into actions. They basically bend the truth and tell lies aimed at getting certain outcomes. Ever heard of media bias?

You mean like every media outlet? They are expected to be biased, you compensate for that with the ability to think for yourself.
This was an obvious work of fiction done to send a positive message to the people, and also of course, for the lulz.

  38. I agree with Kam, you shouldn’t play with people’s emotions-war is serious business. It’s one thing to “wish” for “good news”, it’s another to scam people. This speaks to people’s hopes, “hope/change” embodied by Obama–but hopes are so high now that he (or anyone) cannot fulfill–be prepared for a let down once the reality comes back into focus. Real journalism has been stretched past credulity recently with bias-and it’s reputation for accuracy is already damaged. This will only help to place doubts in people’s minds that what you read may actually not be accurate.

Well, maybe this is for naught–because no one actually still reads the NY Times, do they?
