What beautiful poetry. Low light shooting was real good - I guess this isn’t a cellphone movie -grin-. Now I have to guess at a “Sleepwalking” Joanne and also her wearing heels. And the ending is poignantly sweet … “OK I am alone now but the day is dawning”. Happy Spring.

RB loyalist almost from the beginning. Today was one of my all-time favorites. Joanne, you are a light in this world. An absolute light.

It had been a lovely party, good friends, much laughter, though perhaps it had continued on just a bit longer than she had imagined it would, and perhaps she’d had one glass of wine more than she had known she should. It was time to go. Hugs, a peck on the cheek or two, plans beginning to form for next time and then, at the door, the man with the slight limp, the only one she had never really met before, handed her a flower without saying a word. He smiled, or did he? Maybe it was just his eyes. And then the door was open and she was heading down the corridor toward the lift.

There was still an edge on the airasshe opened the front door of the building, the bite of cold not felt indoors, but it felt good, and she breathed it in, and her head cleared just a bit, and she was glad for it. It was warmer out than it had been, she thought. There was an energy coming to her on the breeze she had not felt for a while. The streets were almost empty, except for the taxis of course, and here and there a devoted owner walking a dog. She was very aware of the click of her heels on the sidewalk on the otherwise quiet street.

And then she saw them, was surprised by them, the first streaks of light in the sky, dawn. And for the first time she realized the quality of the light in the city had already changed, there was more yellow and pink in it, and less of the cobalt blue-greens of winter, even in the blue of the sky. Spring.

By the time she got home the sun was teasing her, orange and yellow streaks growing stronger and deeper to the east, and even though she was tired and she knew the day was coming and she had things that must be done soon, she just paused at her stoop and sat down. She swept a strand of hair back from her face, wondered for just a moment how her makeup had fared, and then regarded the flower in her hand once again, and wondered why the man limped the way he did, whether it was an old wound from an adventure survived, or maybe just something he had been born with. And she waited for the sun, knowing it would not be long in coming.

Fantastic, Leron! I would give you a +1 but for some reason that doesn’t work for me anymore.

That was a fantastic clip; from beginning to end! The same image could not have been carried by a group of people, a couple, a guy, or, dare I say even another *lady*. This one is now jostling with Backwards in Time for position as my all time favorite RB episode … ever.

Congrats on a job well spun.

I agree. This is going on my website, phone, laptop along with my 2/2 NY Fairy Tale, 2/9 Backwards, 3/30 Beat, 4/27 NYC, 5/14 Art all from 2007. I have to go through 2008 and add a few. Although I appreciate the news clips here I really love the artistic creations.

  7. HEY!! -Joanne actually looks like a genuine, real, … -Girl- in today’s episode!??!
-I never before realized she had feet, shoes, hair, lips or eyes before.
The smile looks slightly familiar, though.

      pretentious as in:

      1) making demands on one’s skill, ability, or means;
      or
      2) expressive of affected, unwarranted, or exaggerated importance, worth, or stature

Personally, as my comment above would suggest, I’m going with #1 but your comment is lacking in detail and can go either way. So, which is it and why?

  10. Near the end I was trying to figure out if there would be a story/message/punchline. At regular video resolution, I thought I was watching Joanne dressed in her winter outfit, walking her puppy, then at the next moment she was all dressed up. Still very pleasing. I enjoyed it, even more with Leron’s story line for the video.

  19. While I am quick to admit the piece was enjoyable and well done, it feels like a trend at Rocketboom. The last time i checked on Rocketboom, she was dancing across America on some roadtrip. Is rocketbook running out of newsstories, and becoming more video clip art? Just curious.

You’ve been out of action for a long, long while. This new one still has blond hair.
