Great show, stirred up tons of ideas! here\\\’s a start..
I swear, if I ever catch that freakin\’ Askimet, I\’m gonna kick his spam catchin\’ ass!
Love the episode, but you guys are in your own world when it comes to getting the date.
Clever!
In honor of today\’s episode, Elllie is forcing us to listen to 80\’s pop in the studio today. So far the playlist has included:
Wham!
Pat Benatar
Journey
Sting
Whitney Houston
Billy Joel
Madness
Naked Eyes
Asia
Taco
If we move on to Olivia Newton John, I\’m calling the police.
That girl always Did seem to have OD\’d on the disco biscuits…
Oh well can\’t have it all, I guess.
Okay, here\’s the part where I admit that I have half of those albums myself.
Okay, over half.
It takes a man to admit his weaknesses, so here\’s a simple musicology lesson for today. Memorize all 500 LPs and you\’ll be the hippest cat on the block…and go do some album shopping.
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5938174/the_rs_500_greatest_albums_of_all_time/
I am happy to report that I have a majority of the albums in the RS Top 100.
And they\’re all filed next to copy of Rick Astley\’s Greatest Hits.
:-D
Come on! You kids don\’t even look old enough to remember what an \’album\’ even is! Why Ellie couldn\’t have been more than just a little kitten, if that, when those tunes hit the airwaves. What the heck moved her to pull that out now? Answer: today\’s music sucks and the solution is to dig back into the gold of yesteryear!
When those 80s tunes were \’in\’ I was digging back to the gold of the 60s & 70s - now that was music! Now my 2 little boys are anomalies; they much prefer tunes of the 60s & 70s as opposed to the 90s & 0Xs. I wonder why that is?!
Why I remember back when … oh never mind, you\’re too young! Cheers!
What about Simple Minds, The Fix, Thomas Dolby, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Talking Heads, Bowie and so on and so forth. Her list makes one think 80s music was just lame.
It\’s gotten better since I posted that. Although why \’Asia\’ and not \’Toto\’?

I prefer this one….

My id above didn\’t link to my site.
I did not link to speakinginparenthesis.blogspot.com
It should have linked to http://qualityarticles.com
Where did that come from? What\’s up with that?
That was very pleasant. And the LP on the bookshelf was clever. Fooled me!
Any chance of someone on the team posting the names of tunes you guys use in the vids? Right here in comments would be great.
Thanks! I love Rocketboom.
Thanks!! I made the music with Garage band and have been meaning to make an album out of all of the RB music. We have also been looking at making a music video pack, filled with Casual Friday music videos.
Now that\’s the classic RB Casual Friday type of stuff we all know and love! Great piece. Thank you!
Makes me miss the LP even more. 144 square inches of ART!
Classic Rocketboom
fantastic!
TGIF! Thanks for the lite news. Looks like it was fun.
Ok. That was pretty good :).
Thanks for this \”freaky Friday\”. It was a good one - it\’s going on my phone! Congrats to Joanne and Drew and anyone else(staff) who worked on this … must have been fun to do too!
This was a Drew-Joanne-Joe production (and a very fun one at that!)
So good to see casual Friday back… like it\’s suppose to be :-)
As I was saying, here’s a start:

& btw Joanne, thanks to you, my cat won’t touch his Puss’n Boots anymore, he’s sucking up the 2004 Finca Sandoval. He don’t swish & spit & I’m about going broke here. Jeepurrs!
Oh, one more thing, I know you were giddy from sniffing all that alcohol laden air but there are no “species” of wine, only varieties.
lp
Joanne lickin the empty wine bottles…what a lush! LOL!
(You were great last nite Jo…cheap date…I somehow doubt that)

this is fun! Drew your next!
I lied!

Oh, good God. Why did you have to post that mash-up? Two beautiful things — Tijuana Brass and Ellie. Click my name link for the whole Ell-ography.
Where\’s my link? Has Rocketboom disabled

This one\’s for you Disco Ellie

(the video is good for a laugh!)
Loved the piece. A great day at RB - comments, too. You all crack me up.
Ellie, now that you\’re covered in whipped cream…yummy…here\’s another 80s classic
One thing we forgot to mention in the links:
Although we were inspired by the flickr group LP Portraits, they, in turn, were inspired by this music video by the band Knight Music:
Ellie, quick play this before Yatta jumps out the window.

Cool Friday show! Very excellent filming/imaging; well done!
Half the reason to have bought an lp album was for the cover, according to my grandmother; as I\\\’m not old enough to remember vinyl albums.
Yes I am (old enough), sadly. Hey, a little while back in my life I once imagined collaborating with someone over creating artwork for album/CD covers. Today I still very much–maybe perhaps even more so, really–want to do that, but I fret and vex about things like a) my being qualified enough (Adobe cs3 is overwhelming sometimes (grasp resistant)), b) sending out inquires that probably won\\\’t get a direct response, and c) worrying that it might be now or never as CD\\\’s move on; although digital downloads do come with accompanying artwork, so hence maybe I\\\’ll get my wish after all, with this enticingly new media for the future. I\\\’d be a very lucky guy to get a gig like that.
But for now I moonlight weekends as an imaginary world-renowned pastry chef. Icing on one\\\’s fingertips provides a decent diversion. My specialty: Decadence-filled cream puffs drizzled with Smucker\\\’s Caramel Sundae Syrup and topped with dark organic fruit components. Tasty! I have no idea what I\\\’m talking about right now, and this paragraph has no further depth of meaning other then the following: I like whiskey; and I\\\’m enjoying a bunch right now as I type this! Belch. Pardon me.
Anyway, here\\\’s to RocketBoom making social visits to other websites, and moreover:
here\\\’s to Joanne who rocked
Wow, note to self: stay away from computerr when getting loaded… try again, herre goes:

More Robust: GO! (in a new window)
Joanne, any idea where those wines glasses were before you showed up?

/can you say Listerine?
A follow-up:
This demonstrates the awesome power Joanne
has to get grown men to eat cat food!
Wow, ntoe to slef, stay awya from teh copumter whne getitng lodaed!

Come on! Flip the \’other\’ one and post it too!
Hmmmm, I always thought they looked vaguely familiar.
Great idea maK , I mean Kam, a few Rocketboom Bloopers episodes would be a hoot and a half or 3/4. \”Rocketboom Uncut\”
That’s Kam the Man
Drew, you’ve turned him into Kam Warhol. Well the following video has nothing to do with LPs, but it’s pretty cool.
These are all hilarious.
If I weren\’t caught up watching Green Bay-New York I\’d make some myself.
;-)
far-out flashback…
Martin Luther King Jr. 1929 -1968
“But today our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change. The large house in which we live demands that we transform this world-wide neighborhood into a world-wide brotherhood. Together we must learn to live as brothers or together we will be forced to perish as fools.
We must work passionately and indefatigably to bridge the gulf between our scientific progress and our moral progress. One of the great problems of mankind is that we suffer from a poverty of the spirit which stands in glaring contrast to our scientific and technological abundance. The richer we have become materially, the poorer we have become morally and spiritually.”
~Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
