Why would the vote be hacked when the popular vote doesn’t matter?

I think 2004 was the hack, in 2008, the election will be circumvented by the declaration of some BS state of emergency or marshal law. Read up on the UN Charter baby, the constitution is dead.

Yup. I second that. Good one. I\’m not even going to try. What a sad way for me to start 2008.

Duh, but what\’s the \”& l\” at the end?

Nothing. Just a bad attempt at some semblance of humour as my slides continues.

\”& l\” would be the last 2 characters in the phrase; when reading only the 1st character of every line (downwards). Or was that really just a HUGE coincidence?!

      4. Right, I see \”WELCOMEBACK&l\” as the first characters. I don\’t understand the \”&\” or \”lp\”.

        Well Bob:

I was just dragging this out because he beat me to a clever post. What you see is correct but ideally he should have left a space or further removed the last 2 lines. However; he is an artist so I won\’t fault him on this!

The \’&\’ is simply that = \’and\’ to add the \’super…\’ remark about the domain names Joanne tried to sell on eBay.

        The \’lp\’ is Kam\’s signoff = \’later people\’.

This thread went on way longer than it should have! Buh bye!

For 2008 I resolve to pump more iron, drink better liquor, drive less and cook more things I’ve never cooked before.

And to drop that silly “Joanne is a robot” speculation. Clearly a myth.

It puts a song in my heart and a spring in my step!

It’s called “Zoom a Little Zoom” by Tom Glazer and, thank Jebus, it’s in the public domain. Some guy named %7Ebaron was nice enough to stick it on his edu site:

  19. My NY\’s resolution is to make this dish and share it with Joanne (if she\’ll have me)

    Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

    INGREDIENTS
    3 tablespoons butter or margarine
    1 bunch fresh asparagus
    3 cloves garlic, chopped

    DIRECTIONS
Melt the butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and asparagus spears; cover and cook for 10 minutes,
stirring occasionally, or until asparagus is tender. If you like your asparagus well done, reduce heat and cook an additional 10 minutes.

    2. Good choice B-man.
Asparagus is the leading supplier among vegetables of folic acid. A 5.3 ounce serving provides 60% of the recommended daily allowance for folacin which is necessary for blood cell formation, growth, and prevention of liver disease. Asparagus also contains a good amount of fiber, is very low in sodium and calorie content and is a significant source of thiamin and vitamin B6. Or so says the Michigan Asparagus Advisory Board.
Personally however, I prefer asparagus uncooked. Nothing against your recipe though and if you do choose to saute, try using something like unrefined olive oil. Consuming heated hydrogenated fats, meaning fats that are solid at room temperature, does all kinds of nasty things to the body. In fact, I\’m sure there are plenty of people this time of year who have sworn to stave off hydrogenated fats. Good for them!

Don\’t forget to hold a stalk by both ends and bend it, letting it snap where it may. This gives you a template to quickly cut the rest, eliminating the sometimes woody stems. Unless you\’re reeeeeally into fiber, as in, the kind that gets stuck between your teeth.

Though this summer my local organic farmer was putting out basket after basket of fresh asparagus that needed no trimming at all. I IQF\’d a ton of it and it\’s in my deep freeze, waiting patiently.

Hydrogenation = self poisoning. Lousy food corporations…..

      2. I agree on Hydrogenateds!!!!
They are so complex, the body has absolutely no idea what to do with them.
BTW, unless it\’s the \”Natural\” type, all commercial Peanut Butter (skippy, Jif, etc.) has a minimum 20% hydrogenated oil in it.
(if they haven\’t just hydrogenated the peanut oil & destroyed the vitamins in the process)

      3. Let’s cut to the chase Joanne, is it a date or not? I’ll make the asparagus anyway you like it. In fact, we can have an asparagus entrée party ranging from cooked, steamed to fresh-off-the-farm to sautéed.

By the way, folic acid, or folacin is also required for proper brain functioning as it is a catalyst for the billions of daily chemical reactions our amazing “brain” factory produces. Good thing neurons aren’t unionized, or life as we know it, would cease to exist.

  24. Hi Joanne,
Any news from Ruud Elmundorp? The news from Kenya is not good and he is not the sort of chap to keep a low profile (recalls \”interview\” with Joseph Kony).

Oh and a Happy New Year to you all at RB!

    1. Glad you asked. We will definitely be hearing from Ruud next week. The situation in Kenya is indeed a growing concern and the more independent coverage it gets, the better.
And thank you - Happy New Year to you too.

  27. Prior to finding this website, I only received current news through small children and rumors. I feel incredibly enlightened. Thank you. Now if I can get some more local news other than off the back of someone’s New York Post on the subway, I’m pretty sure I’ll be the most well informed person on the whole block or maybe just my side of the street.

In the year 2010, she could be replaced by a robot that looks like her and can smile from ear to ear. Trust the advance of technology to put machine in the place of man or in this case, woman. We may even have robotic spouse to woo you to sleep. Just need to make sure you can afford it, like my custom made Jaguar.
