A convertible in the Northern Pacific?
I don’t know if I would want a pacific harbor seal or a even a fur seal, not to mention a California or a stellar sea lion, for a hitchhiker. And definitely not an elephant seal.
I mean, they can be cute and friendly outside of smell range, but try confinement in a cave with a happy bunch, not to mention having one perched on the gear shift. I mean an adult male Pacific harbor seal might reach 400 lbs., an elephant seal, an unimaginable 5,000 lbs at 20 feet. I mean, do they think they are whales or something?
Some of them can be friendly, a little too friendly, if you know how that goes. These are the mammals that, according to some, had to learn to swim when Noah wouldn’t let them on the boat.
But, at 1.5 mph, they’d probably tire quickly. I know I would. Bucking the eddy off the tail of one of those creatures, would be hard enough, much less the undertow.
Always watch out for the undertow. A nice metaphor for something.
