SO GOOD!
I watched this over an over, sweet ep.
Wow, just checked out Dateh’s link, he rawks!
Actually, Miri Ben-Ari is The Hip-Hop Violinist.
Check her out:
http://www.miribenari.com/
Yeah, that “Hip Hop Violinist” title is a funny one. Miri Ben-Ari’s management had apparently trademarked the phrase and sent a cease and desist order to Paul for using the words “hip hop” and “violinist” in the title of his YouTube posts. After the story created some bad feelings among the blogosphere, they realized that they were being a little overzealous and backed down.
Anyone who rides the NYC Subway can tell you that there have been quite a few young violinists playing hip-hop on the trains for spare change for decades. It’d be a shame if just one artist laid claim to the concept.
Here’s a video of the group Nuttin But Strings who’ve been around forever:
Great way to be played & plucked
Did anyone break their G-string?
Jerry Goodman
Jean Luc Ponty
Lovely.
The guy who follows me around is wearing a silk kimono, a cowboy hat, half a dozen glitzy necklaces and snakeskin boots. Sometimes he’s toting a 12-string but usually it’s this beat-up red Strat with a too-fat neck on it and the thickest damn strings I’ve ever seen. I woory sometimes because even when he’s not plugged in I seem to hear him just fine. But the music is too sweet to ask him to leave.
Wait… that’s you I’ve been following?
I have a hard enough time getting a puppy to follow me.
That guy’s personal site is his really well done
ok.this is true music ,but Bach is in 8°up and RE minor or Beethoven in 1/4 of DO.thanks
All of you at Rocketboom rock! Thanks so much for inviting me to come visit you. I had a great time. :D
@jo: The main thing on my mind was to just get my fingers to move; it was brick cold outside! LOL! Also, I was improvising different variations of classical (and pop) themes, so I transposed the themes to different keys from the originals. But thanks for listening closely enough to notice! :)
brilliant…only exceeded by the vegetable drama
When you took the first sip of your liquid concoction, I would have upped the tempo a bit, that parsley & lime buzz one gets ya’know!

Great show though, got me thinking about all sorts of stuff like sensors in music earbuds that could register mood change, bio rhythms, heart rate etc. & then play corresponding music, thing is, I love the blues but I’m always happy, so…
oh yeah, one more thing…
Wow! How the heck did you spot that!?!
I can even see subliminal messages!
Can you spot the blind guy & his white cane? (I’m assuming he’s blind)
Piece of cake! He’s behind the hydrant at 0:20!! I wanted ask about the shoplifter but after watching again and again I realized this is NY and there were just too many to pick one!
Pineapple, green apple, parsley and lime sounds good?! Yikes!
I see Jesus!
The sensor thing has been done…but not using bongs…so depending on the strength of the inhalation, a new musical tone could be born as your synapses collapse. Give it a go, as they say in England.

Complete with awesome Joanne pic:

Miss Colan is very pretty. Oh yeah…. green apple, parsley, and lime? Is that her beverage?
The place around the corner where I get various combinations, apple, grapefruit and kale for example, or, barley grass, kiwi and arugula, wouldn’t serve me for some strange reason. I can’t think why. They backed away as I approached. Maybe they were just all out of kale.
Do the whole Hendrix pouring lighter fluid on a violin while on your knees, that should get their attention.
No offense, but I prefer HOT female violin players like Vanessa Mae.
Today’s broadcast was beautifully bowdacious. And Paul Dateh is amazing! Does he play a reed instrument also?
Thanks, Rocketboom, for pioneering a perfect daily place for people to bridge the gulch between (our) harmony and (your) melody.
I once bought a second-hand fiddle. I never learned to play; and it soon got stolen from inside my storage closet. The thief sprayed an entire can of Silly String over everything remaining, then raided the fridge of all my wild cabbage and rocket salad greens, leaving behind a sweet citrus scent within my nostrils and a stupidly stolid ache within my chest.
OMG!
He’s BAD — but 6 mins of hip-hop is just barely enough to warm up with!! ;P
:D
Who was the lady talking about meteorites on U Tube? I think it’s you who needs to come to Earth!
That was great. Sorta goes with my program tomorrow on music and the mind: http://library-cafe.blogspot.com/2008/02/jamshed-bharucha.html
Post-Starbucks Herrman
What’s the very first melody? Bach, Beethoven?
Thanx

“Joanne’s Inner Soundtrack (with Paul Dateh)”

Hilarious!
snl did an operatic version of this with lorraine newman in the 70’s or 80’s.
this one is less dramatic, and a lot nicer on the ears.

I wonder what kind of music he plays when shes taking a dump
