Joanne really messed up with the Michael Phelps story. I don’t care much about the “controversy” that isn’t, however, her constant reading of .01 as one THOUSANTH of a second serveral times is just bad, bad BAD research. They measure in the hundredths, not thousanths at most Olympics events. They only measure in the thousanths at motor sports events and such. To pound this home, .01 is 1/100th of a second, not 1/1000th of one. Even the headline on this story on the website says “1/100 of the time” how in hell can you release a segment and NOT QC it for accuracy of the reporting? Sheesh.
rick, take it up with the website for being 001 and not 01.

Showing pictures of modern apes, Joanne referred to them as our ancestors. Modern non-human primates have evolved for the same length of time as humans have. We are not descended from them. We and modern NHPs are descended from a common primate ancestor (or, equivalently, from the same first replicating molecule). You knew that.
