first!
please change it
Cool! FREE content + ’skipable’ ads + smooth new layout = 1 great combo.
Sweet! Congrats on the team-up! :D
Nice. It’s always great to see relationships happen between people and companies I admire.
The story link has it right, but Joanne mixed up mecca and medina :P he immigrated from mecca to medina
On a sad note, Amanda’s out at ABC.
I don’t like it. It’s like… commercial and… uncontrollable… like the Internet radio problem.
uncontrollable? How do you get that? Just click the X to close the ad if you don’t want to see it. Sure beats being forced to watch.
If you want to control it you’ll have to pay for it, or build your own!
Put overlay ad on left rather than at bottom.
Nobody ever takes video of the kid kicking Pluto right in in his furry planets. they only start watching when Pluto finally goes into orbit.
I can see telling Mahmoud to skip the WTC. But I don’t get the folks who want to deny him a chance to speak at Columbia. Listening to him helps people see he’s a reality-challenged ideologue.
Iran is the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.
Not to mention it has no problem stoning a young woman to death for infidelity
as happened just last week.
Ahmadinejad should never have been given a world platform to spew his disgusting propaganda.
Columbia University is a joke.
A sad day indeed.
I don\’t think anyone who stands up in public and questions the Holocaust does his blessed cause any favors.
Are you worried he\’ll get good play back home for it?
And, what about being snubbed at the WTC, do you expect some blowback among the faithful for that?
If students at Columbia need this special guest appearance to learn what he stands for, then they are clueless to begin with.
There is value, I think, to giving people a chance to look evil in the eye. Once you have seen it, some of the scales fall away from your eyes.
Please, please get rid of the ads, if you can.
There is a reason I get almost all of my news from the internet. It is not because I love the feeling of screen glare.
It is to escape the irritating, irritating ads on TV.
Especially the ones that pop up as overlays over the image I am trying to watch….an especially annoying trait seen on many channels such as Comedy Central.
If you HAVE to have ads, PLEASE use banner ads. Still ones, without animation.
Please, respect your viewers, who are so very sick of ads overpowering every bit of media they see, and we will respect you.
Thank you.
The ad at the end is fine. The overlay at the beginning is as annoying as any pop-up ad. I couldn’t close it fast enough. It also distracts from what Joanne is saying.

I second that.
My Rocketboom-watching routine just changed from “Go to rocketboom.com” to “Go to rocketboom.com, watch for ad so that I can immediately close it.”
wtf! I thought I was being invaded by Windows when I saw that pop-up, get rid of that crap!
Personally I don’t care for Silvermans type of comedy, I much prefer Lynn Koplitz
& just for fun bubble out!
Woo Hoo for flash encoding! It loads much quicker on my machine! With the Quicktime plug in, it was a toss of the coin if the player would load, or crash my browser.
As for the adds. I understand that your orginzation needs to make some profit to offset production costs, but with the new overlay it is too much. When I tried to close the add, I missed the (X) and ended up clicking on the ad.
It used to be when I bring up the daily Rocketboom video, it would assume Quicktime. Now it assumes Flash, which would be okay if the volume slider could go away after use. Also, my preference is to start the video on Pause not Run. Also, is there a way for the volume setting to be remembered?
I was kinda bummed to see the ads appear on such a cool site, but I understand if RB needs them. Also, I felt a lot better once I realized that you can skip them.
Thanks for putting the ads in for 30 days. Now I don’t have to come to the site for a whole month. Too bad because I used to click in every day.
I don’t like the ads.
Never thought I’d see a Sarah Silverman ad on Rocketboom!
(I happen to love Sarah.)
Congrats on the deal.
I’m SOOOOO happy that you have Flash although it has a problem in how it takes forever to load in Safari on a iMac.
I watch Rocketboom with my family on AppleTV but whenever we saw something funny that we wanted to forward in email to friends they could never watch it because they didn’t have Quicktime. Now there’s Flash with a SHARE link in every video! I expect your viewership to go up a lot from that alone.
The ads are not that bad!!! Doesn\’t bother me. I like the flash too! Does anyone know what happened to Pluto after this incident? Did the mouse fire him? Is mom suing? Just curious, never heard anymore on it.
I watch the quicktime RSS feed in. The popup ad corrupted the video, leaving only audio. Either blip.tv or Miro needs to fix something.
Sarah did you shave your poopy yet?
Ad at the end is okay, but never put a popup or floating ad, especially a moving one(!), over what we are watching or on the same page. Horrible. Could be enough to drive me away, although at least I can close it (immediately!). I avoid supporting things with annoying ads, so I guess I don\’t have to worry about watching that tv show ever!
Flash is crap, and waiting for that ad to load noticibly interfered with the download of RB! There is a reason I have the flashblock extension installed in firefox. Not really that big of a deal, it just means one more click before I get to watch! Like I said, no big deal.
I’m not a fan of QT either (wish I had any luck with democracy player), but until you start offering it in xvid-friendly .avi, I’ll stick with the big blue Q, thankyou.
About the flash ad: I abhor advertising, but I understand why it’s there, and with that said I think I would actually be more tolerant of a 15-second pre-roll ad than the “overlay.” Yuck! It is especially sad that you have now have the flash ad AND the trailing ad, what next, a uniform with sponsor patches a la nascar?
I think most of us agree that TV is a horrible thing. Please don’t let the internet follow it’s invasive & overbearing commercial format!
I’ll take the uniform over the slabbed in popover and end slug ads any day. PBS does ads perfectly. No fuss no muss
I hate it! I hate ads! And these are sooooooooooo out of place, the first ones with the earthlink were so much better integrated. These are just corporate bull
