ooo, good point. Though somewhat depressing.

There should be a 1-10 scale we can use to describe the strength of the urge to rip out our own eyeballs after seeing something online. After what I have seen at various outlets today, maybe it could be called the Britney Scale.

It’s obvious that September 10th is one day before 9/11, please don’t insult our intelligence by telling us & on December 24th don’t tell me it’s one day before Christmas.
Put the fat air guitar guy on the remote control skates & hand me the controls please!
    Nice bracelet in the interview.
Why wait for a flying car
& the answer is “like, such as, hand me the map, I can’t find my brain, such as”

Does 9/11 still weigh heavy on the minds of on-site NYers? I know it does out here but most of those people are nuts and think Osama\’s hiding in the municipal water tower. (As, apparently, does Fred Thompson.)

I remember thinking, the terrorists fucked up. They attacked the only city in America that could ever really get over what they did.

Maybe we\’ll find out here tomorrow.

On my trip to NYC in July the general reply from several unrelated people; both business types and blue collar, to \”Let\’s go and have a look…\” was: \”Why, when there is so much else you can see and do?\”

I agree with you. Hitting the municipal water tower in Dust Bunny, Nebraska would have had a longer term affect. Hitting NYC was, I\’m sorry to say and with all due respect, a flash in the pan.

I don\’t think we\’re discussing state secrets here — though these days I could be wrong. But yeah, you could paralyze this country and do a trillion dollars in damage to the economy just by staging simultaneous attacks in four different small-town Wal-Marts. Or two NFL games.

And there was ol\’ Fred T today, saying that he is sure al Qaida has agents in this country. Not that he has any proof, mind you. But that\’s how his ilk gets votes: wave the boogie man, be it Osama or two guys who want to get married. So much easier than, say, addressing health care issues or why so many of our schools suck.

And then in his next breath Fred says that Osama should get due process — right before we kill him, he said. I suspect they\’ll save a bit of time and dig the hole while that there \”due process\” thing is going on.

I live in fear that Osama will get nabbed or blowed up three or four days before Giuliani and Hillary face off in November. It won\’t change our actual security a whit, but it\’s the kind of shadow-puppet move that pols, GOPers in particular, live and die by.

  7. Joanne is delightful on Rocketboom. But can we take her seriously if SHE takes seriously the celebrity bimbos of HOllywood? I understand that she needs to make a living, but must she sell her soul to the alternative reality of the entertainment business? I am very disappointed she made this choice; I fancied that we shared a lot of liberal values and virtues. Sigh. Another beautiful face with Celebritus degradocius.

    1. Barry, this wed. Joanne is interviewing cast from the Heros and next week its cast from Entourage. Both of these shows are extremely popular on TV in the geek crowds too. Won\’t it be nice to have someone like Joanne asking these people questions instead of your typical Hollywood interviewer?

  8. Drew, I don’t want to hear anyone interview celebrities of any sort. Those who dislike their own lives so much they need to live vicariously through tv or movie celebrities will no doubt prefer Joanne to interview them. But I believe in living my life as if it were important, living my beliefs moment to moment. No celebrity opinions are important to me. In the cosmic scheme of things surely most thinking people would agree in principle. But a great many people do not choose to focus upon their OWN lives and beliefs moment to moment. I do.

Oh yes, let me say that Joanne is an untapped gold mine of REAL news presentation talent. Her intelligence and personality and appearance are truly special. And I’m truly disappointed in this choice she has made.

    Thanks for listening.

In the cosmic scheme of things, you my man, must be a drag to live with! & who the hell are you to assume our lives aren\’t important to us all & believe you me, no-one lives in the moment like I do. You insult us with \”Those who dislike their own lives so much they need to live vicariously through tv or movie celebrities\” It\’s called interest, curiosity, amusement & most \”thinking people\” can figure that one out. Who gives a darn if certain people don\’t focus moment to moment like you. I guess you can walk on water too!?

      1. Kam, methinks thou dost protest too much. Your real life must be very unsatisfying, and I extend my sympathy. Now run along and play with the nice celebrities. Don’t worry . . they won’t ever tell you the truth about your life. You can pretend any reality you can stand.
Walk on water? Hmmm. Dunno. But “I am immense; I contain everything.” So I don’t need Hollywood or “reality” TV.
