If the Firesign Theater can make a five-course meal out of dogfood and dishwater…I guess I could make a Mellotron! I’ll warn ya tho’–I’m more of the duct tape/krazy gloo type than one who could master a soldering iron. I also come from the Fred G. Sanford school of bang-on-it-twice-to-get-it-to-work!
But hey! Give me an extra five pounds of shellac, and I could make a Mellotron MkII!
But seriously, when I came across Mike Walters’ Melloman a couple years ago, it was “superinspiring” as the lads quote, yet I was thinking more along the lines of Laurie Anderson’s violin in tandem. The bow was the tape strip, and the head was on the violin.

I can’t describe in word how much that sucked..But i loved it!!! =)
My suggestion would be to stop buying those way cool hipster glasses for a year, find a barber instead of a stylist for your haircuts, and use the money you will save buying a real mellotron from Streetly Electronics, who are still in business. Then, learn how to play music on it instead of making farting noises. One question: Why was this video letterboxed? Or is the point to be 16×9 dweebs?
