    First!

And ewwww, puss caterpillar. It looks like a cross between a very hairy tarantula and who knows what else.

Okay, off to explore the United Federation of Planets!

  2. Billdozer says:

I for one welcome our new Hairy Catepillar overlords…
I want one of those supersized so i can walk it around on a leash, and play fetch.

Okay, off to play with GeoCommons!

  3. Smacktle says:

I wonder how many people it took to hold that kite? I imagine a big gust of wind coming along and lifting them up in a jackass movie sort of way.

      Martha2: \”Hey Martha3, the hole can speak!\”

Martha3: \”Yeah, well tell it to shuddup or I\’ll stuff it with cheese!\”

      • Mike Dixon says:

Martha4: \”With what, er, Swiss cheese, the extra holey kind? HA-ha-ha-ha-he-he, Ho-ho, hole, hole,… GULP!\”
        Martha2: \”Hey! What happened to Martha4?\”

  4. leron says:

“I really can’t tell you very much, officer. He was wearing a baseball cap and shades and up-market sneakers and he looked a little wasted….”

OK, the Google pix are cool as hell. I was able to “walk” right past the block I grew up on, and to note that the little post-mounted mailbox I remember so vividly from childhood has been replaced by your standard boring blue mail receptable. Pretty amazing.

But seriously, and without trying to be snarky, what is this good for besides making people like me go “wow”? I can’t think of a real-world application that even begins to approach the utility of, say, being able to call up street-level maps of the entire country, and even look at the sat photos to spot landmarks.

It must cost a fortune to send the camera vehicles chugging down all those streets. Any real purpose to it?

And: via reddit, here’s a guy who probably thinks Google should just mind its own damn business:

“I swear I was at the library!”

  6. B-man says:

Drew, why do everyone\’s links open inside the comments window whereas my links open up an entirely new window? Did I miss something in this month\’s issue of \”How to Post Comments on Rocketboom?\”

    • Nab says:

Auto-link adds target=\”_blank\” to the <a ..> tag. So you just type the tag yourself and leave it out. Duh!

  7. arena says:

il se fait tard mais celle ci je n’ai pas pu m’en empecher.

    Mille excuses Joanne

hope you’ll catch it … (the joke of course…)

  8. Kam says:

I don’t think I can top arenas image of Joanne as a Playboy bunny but if anyone is interested, you can see more of my Rocketboom chalk art here just scroll down to the bottom of the page.
    Thanks Drew, for showing them.
My friends tell me I have entirely too much time on my hands. Idiots!
    later people

  9. Mike Dixon says:

Mr. Kam, sir, I hope that you won’t mind: I could not resist stealing some of your original art work (from the link that you posted above) to make yet another “hole” montage-like ‘creation’…

    • Kam says:

I am flattered, honored & a little embarrassed but you can cut & paste all you want!
Apparently you have more time on your hands than I do. ;^) & please, it’s just Kam to my friends, friend.
Nab, you’re fired, Mike is my new hero!

Hey all, wanted to let you know Casual Friday will arrive this eve. We are also working on a major new sponsorship program that releases Monday. This weekend, I’ll give yall a heads up as to what to expect so we can discuss it here.

Knowing that we’re more sensitive than most of you on this issue, I’m pretty sure yall will agree its a pretty unique & awesome solution.

Thanks to all of you who helped us figure this out over the last several months!

  11. C-C says:

Glad to see I didn\’t miss the show today but it does look like I missed a rather fun \’commenting\’ day – sniff, I feel so lonely now …

While creating this mashup above, I came across some interesting history about the Mars Attacks cards that led to Tim Burton\’s movie. You can find it at http://www.marsattacksfan.com/homepage.htm

From the site: \”The cards, which sold for 5 cents a pack in 1962, were quickly denounced by parents who were shocked by the bloody, gory, graphic (cool!) pictures, and were pulled off the market after a very short time.\” Now a complete set is worth more than $2000.
