re: Paul Hodes; I didn\’t catch it the first time but I watched that segment again and he sure as heck bungled his words there!
More telling, I think, is Kucinich drawing a blank on the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq. You can see that he reaches into his head for the number, right after saying a million Iraqis have died, and comes up empty, then covers up ASAP.
Sorry, but to me this was an example of new media bringing us the same old story. There was nothing here that Katie Couric couldn’t have told us. New media need to be more than a couple of guys reporting from in front of their laptops. Otherwise, what is the point?
You have to use the freedom of the new medium to go in a direction the MSM can’t or won’t. Just being there sporting with a haircut that wouldn’t pass muster on an NBC Nightly News anchor isn’t enough.
Instead of repeating your words, I’ll just say I agree with your point as well as with ’silverageguy’ below.
Through the whole segment I just kept thinking how a couple of nice ties would at least distract from the haircuts when I could have been mesmerized by poignant questions and a New Media direct approach. You’ve got the guy 1 on 1; hit him hard and show us what he is made of. I think as much as we would like to see this kind of reporting happen just as quickly as blogs, podcasts and vblogs appear, it is going to take a while to convert to that kind of style as these New Media reporters are still afraid of offending someone, or perhaps burning future bridges yet unbuilt, and if this is the case, as leron said, what’s the point?

BTW, the site has been wacky for the last couple of days while we have been working on restoring it. Our data server on Dreamhost was compromised and someone wrote over many of our site files.
Everything should mostly be restored now, please let us know if you notice any disconnects.

Saw a couple articles about the hack on some agg sites. Bummer you were one of those affected.

Drew earlier this week I sent you an email mentioning that a log-in window from a company with a very strange URL kept popping up when I clicked on the comments section. Had I entered my name and password, they would have had access to my computer and RB. Was this the case? Also, are we as RB viewers and commenters being compromised in any way? Our computers that is? Would appreciate a response.

General advice: Never never use your trusted super-secret passwords anywhere except where you need super protection. This includes banking sites, on-line accounts (hotmail, gmail, cell phone, ASP), shopping sites, any place that has your credit card. It\’s best if you have a separate super-secret password for each. And then for sites like RB you can use (and re-use) simple less-secure passwords because there is nothing to steal.
Although I don\’t know your situation, I know if someone found out my RB name (Nab) and password, I would be in no danger.

How are they able to set up a \”fake\” login page window for Rocketboom? It opened up in this window. What would be the point? Why ask for my Name & Password? Why would they bother, if there weren\’t any ulterior motives.

After watching these loony politicians, I think what happened in the Paris case is very relevant. There are 2 justice systems, one for the filthy rich and one for poor slobs like us.
It’s disgusting that there are no new “political” ideas, no new ideas to revamp the justice system so the Paris’ of the world can’t flaunt the law, no ideas on health care, the FDA just approves drug after drug, air quality sucks, plutonium storage,,,,and on and on and on and yes, then there’s the major Joanne paper bag issue as well….will that ever be resolved?
None of today’s politicians have a clue about the real world you and I have to live in. Period. Bring on the 3 Stooges, I’d vote for them anytime!
