  1. Rocketboom is the best entertainment whether on the net or the network. I would love to see you guys do a 30 minute show on Fox. Or for that matter, how about a movie?

Joanne, did you discover the secret remote control feature on your iPhone? You look amazing in those interstitials. I love the relaxed look of your hair. Feel free to take a nice long nap after all those videos and iPhone tapping, you deserve it!

    Today you have a Voice.

What animating the inanimate object is to film, expressive movement is to dance, this is to the real nature of Vlogs. A Voice. The stamp of personality. A single guiding intelligence.

This bite-size collage evokes, its compression is resonant, it is a kind of audio/visual graffiti, since its impulse is to be subversive, yet it wants to be seen by the masses; it wants to partake of the capitalistic exchange, yet be free of it, it wants to be democratic, yet singular; it wants to indulge its extroverted self through the tools of a shut-in. Like the 19th century novel, realism and romance are at battle, and the synthesis wants to be deeply personal, yet part of the mass market discourse, the public battles to build a good and just society. And it\’s very American — entrepreneurial, hardworking, with an itch to strike it rich, as a means to prove one\’s virtue. It speaks to the generation who have seen their parents\’ downsized ruthlessly, social legislation lose its teeth, watched a boomer generation act like children, it is a demographic which has not worked through its real feelings about so much divorce, non-traditional families, the most marketed-to generation ever.

This is the tension that makes Rocketboom unique. This generation y cultural neurosis.

And geek guys love the pretty girl with the cheery persona.

Oh, yeah — I liked it, too — because it seemed to be what it it wants to be, truthful.

Oh wait, never-mind, it’s just my computer’s monitor smoldering from that burning-it-up, red-hot Rocket Boom episode I just watched!

      2. Yes, you know, those special pop-tarts that are marketed only in Hawaii (pop. 148,677); the ones with the pineapple n\’ smores filling, coconut icing, and are specially shaped like a surf board: I hear they are very temperamental to toast just right, and jam-up frequently, tarnishing the indoor air with lots of ebonized cloud cover.

Or perhaps it\’s just another lightning strike over there in Montage Village.

    2 thumbs UP!! Great show!

The van is almost packed, the Gameboy batteries have been charged and the kids are stoked as we prepare to hit the road south towards the Big Apple! Can I pick up my RB t-shirt in person? Joanne, if we make it over to Manhattan can I buy you a cup of tea, or ice tea? Would you autograph my t-shirt?! OK, how about just a smile and a wave then?!

    Rock on!

  12. Good one guys.
Hey Old Man, easy on us Boomers. We\’re not nearly as neurotic as you describe. I got to go through Beatlemania in the 60\’s. Free love, College, and some great Rock and Roll in the 70\’s. Discos in the 80\’s (more free love), and, hey, I made a few bucks on the way. Relax old man. I think we had it better than any generation before or after.

Cultural Progression Note: That turkey weighs 8, 9 pounds tops. It is light-years removed from the commercially raised birds of today that start at 11 and can be 30, and which are bred to have lots of white meat. I bet that \’50s bird had a lot more taste. But you\’d have to work to keep it from drying out, maybe brine it for a few hours first. Today they inject Butterballs and whatnot with a fat/salt/you don\’t wanna know solution that is supposed to do the same thing. Feh.
