I read about the beta RealPlayer on ArsTechinca last week. The copy from YouTube is awesome and the ads look less intrusive but I\’d be afraid of it slowing down my computer like the last one did which sucks because I used to love RealPlayer when I was in high school. I used to go to the computer lab after school and watch all of these livecams from all over the world in it. Then it got all bloated and I got tired of unclicking the files I didn\’t want it to play back for me.
I\’m using WindowsMedia Player for everything except for iTunes for my iPod and Flash for everything else. I\’ll try it since they\’re your sponsor Andrew but I don\’t know if I\’ll use it regularly.
Y well i hope you have tryed say itunes or even WMP for that matter all are better
RobertT mentions some of the reasons below (bloat, etc.). But in a world that is clearly moving toward open source solutions, there is little room for proprietary ones anymore. When you have tools like Media Player Classic (with RealAlternative) available, why would anyone choose RealPlayer?

Who is doing the Rocketboom video transfer to Tivo??? Lately it has just been a mess. Again today a big chunk at the end of the show was missing. Why bothering having it on Tivo at all?

Gentleman, I can tell you as a RB viewer from the start that it\’ll take a lot more than last weeks little bru ha ha for RB to be \”broken\”. If you\’ll go back to around a year ago this July you\’ll see some real sh** hit the fan. If RB could get through that, than there\’s no doubt in my mind they\’ll be around for a long time to come.
