First!
How sad that it all comes too late for Humpty Dumpty.
Every story that Bre does lays an egg as far as I’m concerned.
What I said was hurtful. I take it back.
Egg-zellent story, Bre.
Well, drop an egg here this morning and it’s liable to freeze before it hits the ground. It’s a cool -38 F this morning at the Permafrost Ranch in downtown North Pole. Our crop of Permafrost is growing well at these tempertures.
field correspondant - pah! Nothing wrong with Bre or eggs, but why oh why the cross site repeats… you can do better than that, purrrleeese
Useful information for the upcoming easter holidays? I just forgot when I dropped an egg from a roof the last time, must be a while since that happened. :-) Love the ending…
I did this as an assignment in high school. Instead of an octagonal wheel, he should have built a tetrahedron (or cube, or some other regular polyhedron), and also put the egg in a bit of styrofoam. Then it wouldn’t matter which way it was orientated when it hit the ground.
anyone up for an omlet?
Ooh, cute girl who knows physics. That’s the awesomest thing I’ve seen all week.
Some people sure seem to have a lot of time on their hands. Speaking of which CAN YOU DO THIS ROCKETBOOMERS?

Come on Joanne. I know you can.
I know you can. Didn’t you once put a ham in a can? Or some eggs on some spam?
I don’t think there are any kids out there wanting to grow up to be Bre Pettis. But I am sure there are a lot who want to grow up to become Joanne.
loved the egg-crash in the end!
Great facial expression, too…
That’s a pretty fun activity to try. I can’t resist throwing in my two cents worth, as an physicist/aerospace engineer! There are basically two ways to approach it:
- You can try to build a contraption that absorbs all the energy of impact at once. This is like bending your knees when you land on the ground, or like the crumple zones on a car. That’s basically what the devices Bre built do.
- You can try to absorb the energy in small increments over a longer time. This would be like when the Mars rovers Pathfinder, Spirit, and Opportunity landed–they bounced up and down on air bags until they came to a stop. Though I didn’t quite mean it to, that’s what ended up happening to my high school egg drop device many years back!
eggs? i can’t get past those eyebrows!!! coifed or au naturel?
No fun! Why take air resistance out of it!
Absorbing impact is lemon-squeezy… Velocity is where it’s at. Drop at 10 metres. Launch parachute at 7 metres. Pray.
Paula looks strangely like the alien in the “Space Cadet” episodes at http://www.tikibartv.com
Maybe it’s not so strange…
Oh my god. Something fell out of the sky and Joanne DIDN’T catch it.
That’s an historical vlog event on par with the Ze Frank episode where he blinks.
(I have to agree about the cute girl who knows physics…oh baby!)
I LOVE this guy! While I enjoy the eye candy of Joanne, this guy always comes up with cool projects! I actually had to do this in science class in my freshmen year of high school.
Don’t be so hard on him folks, while I enjouy Joanne and her sassiness, I enjoy seeing practical projects too! Besides his assistant was cute, and brainy! Oooh! Also, she sounds Canadian-always a bonus for me!
You’re all eggcentric!
Nice, but the Vo term should have been
squared. (Lucky it was 0, here!)
eggcellent!
Strange and amazing.
So we learn that peanut butter is too dense, let’s try marshmallow fluff next! And wrap some tape around the jar so it doesn’t open on impact, boy…
Great video….why isn’t there a high definition version :(:( …if available…I would go into the depths for it. thanks :). $$ even.
At last…a good-hair-day for Joanne. Did you use that egg-creme rinse?
