I just assumed that you guys would add something about the VA Tech tragedy. I don’t own a TV so I haven’t observed the barrage of reporting that people say is going on.
Of the reporting that I did hear, on NPR, which as usual from them is full of fake sentimentality and pious commentaries, I haven’t heard anyone point to gun industry lobbying as a major cause of gun violence in the USA. I guess the editorial types at NPR don’t want to link lobbying to tragedy.
As for the Chinese shooter: clearly if he had been an Arab, his interest in guns would have drawn much more attention.
The fact that he murdered so many in firing squad fashion could also originate in Chinese culture, which is supportive of the police state there and sympathetic of executions that feature a rifle to the head.
The guy was Korean. Learned that from NPR news.
He apparently came to the USA at age 8 from South Korea and was on depression medication, so if anything it was US culture that influenced him.
