  5. Great Episode. I didn’t realize Einstein was so short…Joanne’s like Wilt Chamberlain next to him. Some really cool stuff. Though I agree that playmotion isn’t quite as cutting edge as they would like us to believe.

  6. Do you think I could get one of those Einstein-y bots with my face. He could sit at my desk all day and look aggravated.
    I love this stuff.
It’s O.K. Joanne, it be a little afraid to walk through that door too.

  7. Mildly interesting but not Rocketboom doing what it does best. The technology was pretty droll … I mean lets face it …seems like robots will always be in that funny but totally useless mode. The baby seal thing was cute but weak.

I guess I always look to Rocketboom for high energy, zest, and something really edgy, even if silly…like the eye staring bit.

Always remember that your show is about people being impacted directly …. not passively observing.

Technology without the wow and gosh factors is the most boring thing on the planet.

Now… if that robotic arm would only have squeezed you on your awesome rear … whoops, I’m lapsing into Crespolian dialect.

(I’m sure to hear from Steve or Leron) Got to hand it to Leron, he is a well-informed guy. Steve … well all I’ve heard from him is “shut up” which may indicate high intelligence on his part …

    … or not.

JayCo, when you only hold a mike and nod, the show looses the JayCo Factor … British-tinged ebullience and girlish wonder, alloyed with a sophisticated world traveler’s experience.

I know its casual Friday but this was not up to the usual RB.

Hard to be great all of the time isn’t it?

Don’t worry, I still love you, and will browse the comments throughout the day.

    Happy Weekend Friends!

  10. Cool tech! I’m a little confused… I’ve only been watching about a month or so. If this was last year, how did Joanne do the show? Anyhow, great show!

  11. Bill, thanks for giving us the Rocketboom mission statement and defining for Drew and Joanne what the show is about. I also enjoyed your far reaching view of technology. I wonder if MIT has a “wow and gosh 101″ course I could take.
As for my aforementioned response to your comments of a few days ago, I gave it as much time as it merited.

  12. I think the baby harp seal should have wheels hidden inside itself and a super powerful motor that lets it scoot down the road at 60 miles per hour! Imagine seeing that on the road one night? Ha!
Also: I’d be interested in knowing if the baby seal comes with its own club so it can beat itself. Even the guy couldn’t resist! I hope it has a warranty…

The einstein spaceman guy’s range of expressions seemed remarkably similar to a lady with Botox in her face. I wonder if all those women here in L.A. are actually from Stepford…

  15. Yeah…Neat show and all…but it just didn’t connect. Feels like your show these days is in need of more oomph, more edginess, more sarcastic banter and wit.

    Just my opinion

  17. I thought that was an excellent casual friday thing. Shows like that make you look forward to the future (in a way that watching the news doesn’t!)
However, future-shaping guys, where the hell is my rocket pack? I’m still waiting!

  18. Steve L …. oh my …. you do have a nasty way about you.

Even after I playfully tipped my cap to you. Even Leron and I are friends now.

But you … seem to have a terrible time allowing others their opinions. I guess its easier to just say … “shut up!” when you don’t agree.

Well, News Flash for you Stevie-Boy … this is the Internet … and while you may order your friends and family around … here you have no authority … and I hate to be the one to tell you … everyone has an opinion on the Net. So go stand in the corner for being a rude bully.

In regards to Wow and Gosh 101 … you definitely need to enroll … you seem to have little room for play in your mind. Once you graduation from W&G 101, we’ll change your name to Stevie Wonder … because you’ll be filled with wonder about life.

Gentle Reminder: If I want boring techno stats, I will reference MIT … when I want casual Friday fun on the Web … I’ll go to Rocketboom.

Follow-Up News Flash: The purpose of the comments section … Stevie Wonder … is to voice your opinions … without needing to be concerned about the Thought Police pulling you over and giving you a ticket.

    Example from today:

“Yeah…Neat show and all…but it just didn’t connect. Feels like your show these days is in need of more oomph, more edginess, more sarcastic banter and wit.”

Gee! That sounds like sometime I said … but I didn’t, Brevity is the soul of Wit did.

Leron, I suspect Walter Crespo, gentle soul that he was, has been so intimidated by the Thought Police that he has limited himself to watching old Bay Watch reruns … you remember … jiggle, jiggle, swim, swim …

Anyway … I think JOANNE NEEDS TO PERSONALLY ASK FOR WALTER TO COME BACK HOME TO ROCKETBOOM … perhaps even during the show … something form fitting would be most conducive … LOL

Hey… if you can’t get loose on Friday … when can ya.

I can’t wait for Stevie Wonder’s next post … probably wants directions to send a hit man … LOL

    Happy Weekend Stevie Wonder

    God Bless you all…

  20. Actually,
I’ve noticed Walter commenting on Amanda’s new vlog (O.K., I thought I’d look in. There’s room for everybody), and he’s been as polite as he could be.

And happy weekend to you Bill.
BTW-You can take off your aluminum foil hat. Those “thought police” that have been following you around are on vacation.

  23. Yeah - that was just just fine.
Wish I’d been at that show.
Highlight for me … the hand, oh and the door.

On the Seal front - I think
you’re in real trouble as a
    technology company when
    hostels are one of your
    target markets. They’ve
    obviously spent too long
in the lab, and not enough
    time researching the market.
They’re in for a shock when
they find out what the annual
    budget for the average hostel
    / retirement home is.

Mind you if they mass produce
them for 29.99 I’d buy one.

… how about getting GreenPeace to buy 100,000
of them and leave them lying around the North Pole
when they do the seal cull ?.

Right - Friday night .. off
    to the Pub.
    Swinging doors and
a human hand manning the pumps….

..suddenly that all sounds really dull.

  24. Reads Nab’s posting …

    [cuts eyes around nervously]

So … I can take my head off of my desk now? You guys really like me after all?

    [wipes tears from eyes]

You mean … you really LIKE me?

    [Takes aluminum foil hat off]
Steve said I should take my Thought Protection Device off (funny as hell :-)

But wait … Steve is a TP! Of course he’d say that! [puts hat back on but backwards this time.]

Ironic isn’t it? I finally make good buddies outta Leron and Steve … and then some hired gun named Vince wants to call me out inta the street.

Seems every young gun in Texas
wants to make a name for themselves by calling me out.

    [straps on gunbelt]

Well … here we go again.

    have a good one!

  25. Happy birthday Jo?

Walter? Wasn’t he the guy who always had a “hump” in his draws? I was beginning to think he was Joanne’s camel… Now he appears to be foaming at the fingers for Skinny Mini.

    Have a fun weekend!

Right Walter? (don’t you love all the attention?)

Since you’re reading these posts (I have ESPP) I think you too should get yourself a baby wig…

Hey, let’s all get baby wigs and wig out this weekend. (what the F that means ;)

  27. Leron speaking of Rasta’s have you ever listened to Masada by Alpha Blondy?

Houphonet Yako is a really great tune.

Reminds me of Marley in terms of reggae composition creativity.

If you were a Wired magazine subscriber you’d know, because they promote it to an annoying degree in their magazine.
