  1. Hmm, I think Hugo “Little Ceasar” Chavez just needs to go back to his banana git-tatorship and leave us in PEACE!

Dick Cheney as lone gunman? I’d love to see him and Joanne go at each other in a Quake deathmatch.

Nice to see you back Grahsswatcher! Sorry if we upset your gizzard with our compliments…

I was hoping Joanne would continue to trade up and we would see her on the street trading up the necklace to see what else she could get.

If I buy the necklace and the procedes go to the red cross can I give the necklace back to Joanee and let her keep trading it???

    I’m glad she’s back today.

    Peace

  8. Showing Koffi Annan as an opener to peace day made me puke.

The guy is the most corrupt, inane, war-mongering leader the UN has ever had.

There were a million better ways to promote Peace Day than focusing on bloodlust politicians…and the pathetic Koffi

  13. Following up on your discovery about the surprising ads that pop up on your Gmail account, I suggest going to Google Maps and entering your address and the name “Satan”. For example, looking around near the Rocketboom offices Google has discovered the Devil resides in a number of Theatres (with Sunday matinees, no doubt), and has been checking out the competition at the local Churches. He’s also been spotted at Playboy Enterprises as well as a surprising number of Investment firms and Law Offices.

Doing a similar search in my home town of Boston also discovers the Free Software Foundation (!) and the local public library. Guess they have an old edition of the Necronomincon in the basement…

  15. If you think Chavez is crazy then you should see this documentary - maybe it might give you a little insight into why he called Bush what he did:

You should get out more - in the world that is ;)

  16. Oh and that comment wasn’t directed at you Joanne - oh and yes Cjavez can come and say what he likes in the states but it’s at home he has trouble saying it without people trying to topple him by CIA backed coups. I really do wish that some of yoou folks there over in the US stopped and thought a little before making such asinine and uninformed comments - thatg’s the trouble with a vidbyte culture - as Pope said:

A little learning is a dangerous thing; 1
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring:
There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
And drinking largely sobers us again.

And no - I’m not a Chavez supporter either.

    Sigh! Happy Peace day ;)

  17. chavez is not at all crazy, he is just a manipulator, he says what he says for his people and for latinamericans, as castro but as castro makes me vomit huguito makes me lmao. a time ago when he visited argentina he was interviewed by an old but pretty lady and he began flirting with her after eating and drinking some wine in some type of walter crespo style, that was something to watch.

  20. I’m taking a big risk getting this close to Leron … he doesn’t approve of my flirtatious nature … but I like you all the same Leron.

Hey, if you can’t rustle up a healthy little debate on the Web where can ya? (But do see my post from last night, Leron, it was very cathartic for me.)

Since it’s Peace Day, perhaps a bit of political discussion.

what really scares me is that guys like Chavez and the Iranian psychopath are actually world leaders … wow … I just can’t imagine having Halloweenish type wierdos like that actually RUNNING MY COUNTRY??? (VS. being guests on the Tonight Show).

I nominate Joanne as the Global Ambassador for Civilization … from the Digital Nation. her smooth, reasoned British logic and manner of speaking suddenly put it all in perspective for me … why even get concerned about buffoons like these guys. They’re a joke.

Please consider that wherever the British went they left behind law and order, good manners, and an awesome manner of polite political discourse.

And yes, Leron, Joanne’s womanly charisma certainly wouldn’t be a detraction in her efforts to soothe the savage male egos who seek to control the world.

Open Question to the the Global Group: Why doesn’t the world just stand up and tell it like it is. America defends freedom and encourages democracy even with former bitter enemies. While the guys from Venezuela and Iran want to be in total dictatorial control and wage war by killing civilians. Why the big debate about who is right?

I think Joanne should bring rocketboom to Dallas … we’ll build a digital media day around it … !

I hope you all have a great day … including you Leron.

    God Bless You All,

  23. This was a miserable show today. Why run the childish and populist tirade of Chavez (this idiotic rant is on display everywhere) and then a silly pseudo-genuine plea for abstract peace from Anon?

It is sad that the world wallows in anti-Americanism as a response to the awful Bush administration. Likewise, it is pitiful how Americans have comedy as the only avenue to express dissent with Bush. And people choose sides like at a sporting event.

The biggest danger to peace is populist, idealogical politicians. In post Cold War, we have a batch of rabid populists - bin Laden, Bush, Chavez, Ahmadinejad - spewing populist bullshit and people are actually choosing sides. What brainless people who applauded Chavez. Brainless as those which re-elected Bush.

    Resist populism in all forms!

  24. leron,
It is hard for me to understand why you don’t understand the resentment (although the justified resentment is fanned grossly out of proportion by populists with another agenda).

Simple example: US bombed entire neighborhood blocks of Bagdad pursuing Sudam’s son Uday. This killed innocent people, including children. What right did the US have to kill those people? Will the US explain to those families that their children died so the US can defend its homeland in post 9/11? The “colleateral damage” argument does not work - except for Americans.

Iraq is the greatest foreign policy in US history. I hope it stays so. It is outrageous. But where is the outrage in the US?

Chavez is awful, bin Laden is awful. But Bush with his adopted neo-conservative ideology (which he does not understand) and his weird religious undertones, has driven American credibility into the ground. For generations. Thanks.

And you wonder why? But don’t take boneheads like Chavez seriously. Certainly don’t applaud them. They are just trying to politically capitalize on Bush’s mistakes. And Bush has provided capital, as I said, for generations.

  26. Leron, good news! Now I’ve got to debate Version of Myself … LOL BTW, Leron, I just read your last post to me from yesterday … a bit vicious??

Okay on to the Bush haters …

Guys .. .reality check … we have begun to establish democracy in Iraq! Think of it! Changing the political climate is the only way we can prevent despotic governments from growing a whole new crop of suicide bombers.

Regarding civilian casualties … omigod! Give me a break. WHO is murdering innocent civilians on purpose everyday around the world … us or them? We bust our butt to use smart bombs as precisely as possible … but when cowards who insist on hiding behind women and kids (in their houses)there are going to be civilian casualities. BTW, killing that ugly fat creep probably saved thousands of lives vs. the perhaps dozen which were very regrettably lost.

We don’t fire on their mosques … even tho they keep weapons in them and shoot from them … we don’t kill innocents as a matter of policy … we DO seek out crazy killers and exterminate them so they don’t have time to foment deadly disaster like the one just avoided in London.

Regarding Bush’s so-called wierd religion. NewsFlash: he’s a christian … he prays … he goes to church … so did Washington, Lincoln and even Clinton. He doesn’t claim its his duty to wipe Iran off the map … behead infidels, etc. If the crazies just stopped the craziness we could all focus on other crises … like sealing our borders properly.

The Bush hating is totally irrational. Remember everyone called Reagan a relgious wierdo and a cowboy and freaks around the world demonstrated against him. But because of his strenght of vision the cold war ended (just ask Gorbachev). Now we don’t have to live in the shadow of nuclear incineration in the next 30 minutes.)

Bush has the “vision thing” to see that radical jihadists must be confronted and stopped … and he’s taking heat from around the world because of it. Mark my word, 10 years from now … the world will be saying “thank God that Bush had the balls to stand his ground.”

Why not get all indignant over a guy that comes to your country and calls your president the devil. The Pope dares to say quote a guy five hundred years ago who said that Islam is too often spread by the sword … and now he has to recant that “insult’ or face what? Death threats!

Its time for all rational people of the world to take giant step toward objective reality.

One more pleasant objective reality is that Joanne is a vision of female beauty and talent. LOL (Could’t resist infuriating Leron).

Regarding Pakistan, if you think its not so hot now … you should realize what that part of the world was like before the Brits … Hint: they burned widows alive with their dead husbands. I know .. just a quaint local custom that was “right for the them.”

    Love, Peace and String Bikinis.

Bush is not a Christian, or a least, if you call a person who deliberately breaks most of the 10 Commandments on a regular basis in a big, big way a Christian, perhaps you need to rethink your religion.

To Jimified - truth is the ultimate high. But … I am jealous that you got a personal email from joanne…grrr.

  34. Drew, Joanne, et al: I believe that the focus on Sr. Chavez was in poor taste. He had more to say than your sound bites. The move of the South American countries to the left has been profoundly important and has happened in the vacuum created by the lack of interest shown in them by the US (and in earlier exploitation by the US). There is horrible poverty to be faced. It is too easy to make Chavez out to be a fool and miss the larger picture of elected leaders trying to change history.
With all that said (and the big fuss I started with my post yesterday for which I apologize for any grief I may have caused), I join you in sharing a world day of Peace.

  37. Chavez ain’t perfect, but considering he’s being hassled by the CIA, Venezuelan Elites, and is recovering from years of mismanagement, he’s doing relatively well. He’s an emotional person, let’s hope his mouth doesn’t bring his downfall, as it tends to play right into the hands of the uninformed as well as American ‘leaders’. What’s wrong with populism? Much better than oligarchy, which is what we live under now. The West has been the aggressors, we have barely any moral clout, because we take so much, and give so little, except exploitive misery.
