  11. Although I love Joanne, and love rocketboom, what was the point of this vlog? To show J speaking French? We know she speaks French. Who was she speaking to? Why were they relevant to this discussion? There wasn’t anything in the content that we didn’t know. I want to have a “wow, I wouldn’t have known that if I didn’t watch this vlog” kind of experience. when I watch my daily favourite.

Shameless attempt to give J credibility that she doesn’t need. Just watch previous eps to know she is perfect for this format, and has researched the topics she is talking about. And is also a natural.

Give us something else. We already watch vlog/clip sites. We already know that they are (sometimes) a great way to get new info that isn’t presented to us via the mainstream old media. And PLEASE don’t give us the sh*t on youtube, or similar sites. many of us already see this on numerous sites. It is not blogworthy (well, not this type of semi-pro vlog format - leave it for the crappy ones!)

    Please stay original and fantastic.

  12. Entendre ta voix en francais est un brin de soleil.
With an english voice your a pro and the best host RB ever had. In french you proved that you can speak, but forgot all your quality as a host.
The person that ask you to do this in French is in love with you and dont care what you will say or do. Good Luck!

  13. Salut,

Anyway, I will go ahead in English because it is nevertheless the RB context. The subject developed today is very interesting, Blog Vs Net, Individual Vs Group, because we are clearly in a recasting of the sociological system, and precisely in the theory of the organization.

We usually evolve in an organization based on the system composed by workers, even if the theory of action indicates that it is desirable that the worker can express himself by his action to be performant for the system. (the worker and the system/the worker in the system/the worker create the system).

Within a company, that has an impact on the strategic analysis which we can carry out, like its operation.

This concept of blog by the worker is a good example of the action by the worker, and thus of this one creating the system.

It could be a revolution in this situation. We are at the beginning.

To finish by an example, I would like to subject to you a blog coming from Irving Wladawsky-Shepherd, VP IBM, in charge of the strategy, which individually expresses its vision of the business world, in relation with his domain.

    http://irvingwb.typepad.com/blog/

Another communication way for the ( big ) group which is IBM.

Bonne continuation et encore Bravo !

  14. I read the CEO of Edelman’s blog, and I noticed he seems completely unconscious of the fact that 9/11 was an inside job, that it wasn’t Muslim terrorists who brought down the World Trade Center buildings or a plane that struck the Pentagon.

But of course we also know that the corporate media has aggressively censored out any evidence to this effect.

Now the final piece of the puzzle is put into place. Rocketboom is somehow linked to Edelman as well.

NO WONDER Rocketboom and other prominent blogs have kept up the censorship.

  19. You make the same mistake many other podcasts do. You think we are fascinated with the topic of podcasting, just because you are a podcast. I didn’t subscribe to hear about the podcast community (as often as you do it.) It is like tuning into a TV news show and always seeing them covering the insides of the news business, the details of the newsgathering community, and so on.

  24. Jimster,

If you care about democracy, and are not a fascist, you should defend those who seek the truth about 9/11.

The physical and video evidence shows, WTC buildings 1, 2, and 7 were demolished using explosives, specifically thermate.

No corporation or cabal can suppress these facts, try as they might.

  30. The whole time I was watching this edisode I was thinking two things:
    1. Who is Joanne talking to?
    2. When is she going to pause and hear his response to the questions posed?

This was simply a monologue, en francais. I feel that it neither delivered new information about our world, nor added the perspective of the blogger to the subject (which would be podcamp2006? What French guys think about blogging? What French guys think about what Joanne thinks about blogging?).

Zut alors! Chaque jour n’est pas perfection.

Don’t you get it you chauvinistic swampmonkeys?

The whole frigging idea of blogs and the wonderweb is that it crosses all frontiers and boundaries and allows us to bypass those chimps in government who pretend to represent us.

We are citizens of the world, capable of respecting the differences between nations and humans who speak differently.

But maybe, just like George W, you’d rather bomb the shit out of anyone who speaks in a voice you can’t understand.

  38. Hmm…

I have to say that it was pretty cool to listen to Joanne’s monologue in French for a little while at least. However, it would have been so much better if it had been more of a dialogue with the other person, and if we had been told (and preferrably shown) who she was talking to.

PLEASE speak at the next event.

  50. Jimster,

On 9/11, we witnessed an attempted coup d’etat by the CIA and the Neocons. It failed, because firstly the Capitol wasn’t destroyed as planned, and generally there wasn’t enough for Bush to declare martial law. But ever since, Bush has been moving forward with his hijacking of America.

Did you know the USA now has operational concentration camps?
Do you think your loyalty to Bush will keep you out of one?

  53. I feel Joanne has done a good job of letting me in on the more philosophical underpinnings of vlogging.

What the mainstream media will not show, Mainstreet will not see. Esse est percipi. Vlogging/blogging is a two-way window. The Dawson College killer was blogging his mental states to the world before he went on a rampage this week in Montreal, killing and injuring a number students and pulling the trigger on himself, raising anew the spectre of Columbine, not to mention the horrific memory of the anti-feminist slayings of 14 women at Ecole Polytechnique 17 years ago (also in Montreal).

For those RBers who have not had enough French newscasting, there is the magnificent Melissa Theuriau.

  54. As others have been saying (or, at least, alluding to), this specific episode is not providing the type of contextualisation (”packaging”) described in the interview. It isn’t merely about steak and sizzle. Or about serving as anchorwoman. It’s about helping people get behind the information.
Of course, the content of the interview was relatively obvious. This is a context in which we would expect more discussion of, say, recent changes in the vlogosphere, differences between English- and French-speaking podcasters, or plans for the podcasting community. But it worked, in its own peculiar way.
