Joanne needs a sleep comfort bed.
She is just tossing a turning.
Maybe if she didn’t sleep in a sweater she would be more comfy?

    Good day.

  4. Nice show and great quality on the video you shot! And I am one who is interested in NYC as I live in AZ and don’t get a chance to see the culture of a large city very often. Phoenix is still a small (hot) town.

  11. Hugo Chavez and a lot of those other South American presidents are just leftist dictators in the making. People in the U.S. who haven’t lived under regimes like Castro’s and Chavez’s shouldn’t think that communism is all pink flowers and equality. Leaders who try to rule by class struggle always end up creating authoritarian nightmare regimes that cost millions of people their freedom and lives. In the end no communist regime has ever lasted long without running into horrible financial difficulties. Neither as a communist regime ever comes to power without creating a society in which everyone lives a life of misery and squalor to support a tiny minority of ruling elites in fancy “palaces of the people”. To promote that Circus Amok thing is irresponsible. Its political message is an attempt at creating positive images of those lying sacks of filth that run half the countries in South America like sweat shops and prey on the poor by filling their heads with empty, self-serving populist propaganda and communist rhetoric. If Rocketboom is trying to associate themselves with that crowd I’d argue against it. I mean what’s next are you going to start interviewing Al-Qaeda’s web designers? There can never be a communist democracy, and dictatorships are never fun places to live for very long. It’s high time the world moved past Mao, Stallin, Castro and Chavez.

  14. Hey Bob -

The difference between socialism and communism can be likened to difference between Catholicism & Protestantism: If you’re flat out anti-Christian the difference is moot and of absolutely no consequence.

It’s all a matter of degree.

  15. The problem isn’t that Chavez is a Socialist (which he isn’t) or a communist. It’s his method. He’s seeking to overthrow Venezuelan democracy and put his “enlightened” self in power in place of it (*ahem*… just like communism advocates one should do…). The fact that he -says- he believes in social welfare is beside the point. It’s mere propaganda to sell his image to the masses of poor Venezuelans who’ve grown up on the wrong side of the capitalist tracks. He has no intention of making Venezuela a better place for those people, he’s just going to pull a Castro and use their desperation for a better life as a means to put himself in power indefinitely and then stab them in the back, it’s what -ALL- Latin American communists/socialist leaders -always- do. In the end there’s barely any difference between the right wing dictators and the left wing dictators. They’re all bad. So thinking Chavez is such a great guy is ignoring the fact that he’s just using the ignorance and naiveté of people like Bob to supplant what could in a few years turn into a successful social democratic or Panama style capitalist republic.

Chavez is never going to turn Venezuela into France, his goal is to turn it into Cuba. How can you be so blind to his intentions? Unless you accept the fact that he wants to end democracy in Venezuela and admit that you’re like the moron’s who cheered Lenin in Russia or Mao in china. Chavez’s plans will turn south the moment the Oil based cash flow of Venezuela is disrupted and then he’ll just resort to typical South American strong man tactics to stay in power because “no one else could possibly be qualified to lead the Venezuelan people”.

If South American democracies want to turn their countries into social welfare states like Europe’s that’s all well and good, but if they’re going to let anti-democratic bullies like Castro and Chavez fool them with their utopian nonsense that’s another thing completely. All Americans especially Latinos have a duty to oppose these monsters and their lies before they’re allowed to rise and destroy what little we have managed to achieve in our few decades of freedom in South America. It was after all only a 20 or 30 years ago that most Latin American states were under the fist of some caudillo A-hole.

And Bob you should seriously move to Cuba if you can, send us all a post-card from one of those lovely single bedroom condos they’ll set you up in with three or four families.

  17. Look it’s not that I’m against treating everyone in society fairly. I don’t care so much if you want your country to tax 90 percent of people’s income to give everyone a house, a job, a car, medical insurance, retirement benefits, free education, free food, free clothes, free everything. But why does Chavez have to end term limits on the Venezuelan presidency? Why does he have to fly to Cuba and suck up to the Dictator? And why would you want to support that? Venezuela is going to turn into a terrible place if opposition views are not allowed and if no one but Chavez and his lackeys can ever run for office again.

I link Al-Qaeda to Chavez because they both seem to want to destroy democracy and the USA. In any case I was trying to create an analogy which now seems a bit extreme. But, I mean… it’s not like they don’t want to destroy democracy and the USA, just that it makes you sound a bit crazy when you write it.

I grew up in Puerto Rico and next door to a lot of Cuban exiles who had to leave their country because they didn’t belong to the right social class or didn’t agree with all of Fidel’s “great” reforms. Talk to most of these people for just a little bit to loose any love you might have for silver-tongued devils like Chavez.

Communism or heavy handed socialism will never fix the economic problems in the South. Even if you wanted to try though, why does it have to be all or nothing? Why can’t Chavez accept that term limits and free elections are good ideas? If his plans are so sound why can’t someone else carry them out?

Think how wrong it would be if an American president said he wanted to end term limits in the U.S. and just run for president until he felt it was the right time to retire.

I’m sorry for the tone of my arguments but I just detest Chavez and seeing people follow him like sheep to the slaughter just drives me nuts. I’m also not completely right wing I don’t support America’s adventures in Iraq or anything. I think one should be allowed to say Chavez wants to become a dictator when it’s plainly obvious to everyone and not be branded a partisan. Where you prefer the line be drawn for criticizing leaders who go a bit too far to the left? Is a bit to the right of Mao ok?

Nice show - not being an NYC resident - seeing how you do things is interesting. Please do not send JC out on the road - leave that to the field correspondents.

Saying that it would also be nice if you could get some more african stories. A video from Iraq or Afiganistan would also be nice every so often. I views you guys as fairly objective and neutral (except for that awful New Orleans acting materclass from last year and other Amanda episodes) you are getting the balance right - but invest (somehow) in some more international stuff - and don’t be afraid of showing us the streets of NYC.

Keep it up and enjoy labor day.

Paris, NYC and Honolulu became the common places of the 20th century traveling.

Tour operators offers NYC as “Basic Combo”.

  27. Drew, of course there is a lot of real love and caring for New York City. There are critics everywhere (especially in this comments section!) Thank you for bringing it home to us. Also, Chavez-guy, Chavez offered aid to Katrina survivors when Bush was asleep on the job. You have a one-track mind. Open it and let the fresh air in for all the people. Let’s expand our consciousnesses.

  40. 1) showing examples of the things that are available on a sunny labor day weekend in NY was just great. you did not mention the US Open tennis tournament, but I guess that it is too mainstream. But now I am even more interested in planning a trip to NY to seek out the eclectic..

    2) people seem to be willing to post comments directed at JC that would not in any way be appropriate if said in person. I am concerned that high quality talant will think twice about entering this medium if this is the response they can expect to get. For those who cannot seem to keep it together, I’d suggest they leave this form behind, and instead subscribe to nakednews.com.

  42. Chavez: I agree with you. But the left is wrapping him in the same romantic cloth as Che and Fidel. Your logic is on target and your passion is admirable, but take it from a greybeard…you won’t convert those who live purely on emotion (and those of the church of what’s hip, cool and happnin’ now). At least you won’t convert them with logic and reason.

Turing: Damn, man…the dude’s dead. Cut him some slack. Sure he was a dork, but millions (including me) enjoyed his antics. Except when he dangled his kid…

Others re creepy remarks about the bed: Hey…the chick (or the svengali guy) CHOSE to show her in the sack knowing the deomographics of this podcast (about 90% unattached male). WTF did you expect?

Personally, I’d choose SF over NYC. Love Londinistan but I’m too Western to feel comfortable there now.
