  2. Wow, I must laud you for the variety of useful information today.

But please do note, 9/11 was a government operation:

PS: As for ending extreme poverty: ridiculous! How about eradicating irresponsible over-breeding instead?

  9. Well if this anti-poverty/hunger campaign is anything like the UN iniaitives to eliminate disease including aids in recent years as well as their extraordinary effectiveness in bringing about cease-fire after cease-fire in war zones and pseudo peace agreements then I really have to say GOOD LUCK.

All the UN is capable of doing is drawing up “sanctions” which they never seem to enforce anyway.

“The only generation that can eliminate poverty’??? NICE SLOGAN
Really makes the adrenalin pump…until you run up against the political beaurocracies and big business interests.

I think hunger and poverty could have been eliminated a LONG, LONG TIME AGO.

I was remiss in not mentioning yesterday was John Lennon’s birthday.

I urge you all to see The US Gov’t Vs. John Lennon

    He said way back then

WAR IS OVER IF YOU WANT IT.

    Yes, it’s that simple.

    Same with poverty

HUNGER IS OVER IF YOU WANT IT.

It could take a year, if the country club members of the UN had the political will, which they don’t. Sorry, I used to be an optimist about such matters, but I’ve grown accustomed to man’s incessant growing greed and ill-will towards his fellow man/woman & child.

There is no need for anyone to be starving, anywhere, especially in the USA.

    Peace

  10. The interview about the poverty was interesting and the animation was funny. Was that Chung Lee’s mouth, not a white guy?

I think today’s show feels fun and peppy. Great job.

  12. How ironic that the interview on hunger was with a UN guy named Hussain. Anyone remember how much of the UN’s “Iraq oil for food program” went to Saddam Hussein and Kofi Annan’s son? Anyone remember how little the Iraqi people benefited?

This problem is bigger than rich Americans giving more. Was anyone else in Somalia in 1993 watching planeloads of aid come in but the Somali warlords intercepted the vast majority before it got to the population?

The U.S. was the second largest provider (and largest transporter) of relief supplies after the Dec ‘04 Tsunami. For the past year, the U.S. has been providing much needed aid to the folks affected by the Oct 8, 2005 earthquake.

Why is it that USAID had to purchase relief supplies for Lebanon because the receipients refuse to accept bags of food w/ American flags on them?

I for one sleep well at night for the leaders of starving countries bear the responsibility of placing the needs of their citizenry above their personal wealth and politics.

Finally, if you can’t feed them, don’t breed them!
