i love fall!!!!! can’t wait for that last dance.
oops, well, i really love fall!
The dude was right. We need to dance together again. We have lost the rhythm of the “other”.
Joanne
May I have the next dance?
AJ
Beautiful. Bittersweet. Made me feel like an old, old Leonard Cohen song.
Thanks for that.
Today’s theme caused me to revisit another Last Waltz. Thanks! Have a great holiday weekend!
When I try to waltz, I fall.
Oh, that was so beautiful. Congrats!!
Prime time TV could use you guys. America is so beautiful past all the crap.
Joanne really shines when she’s out from behind the desk.
Charming! Though, very hard to believe that Joanne could not find more than one person to dance with her. :>)
I don’t want you to see what I see. It’ll give you the heebie-jeebies. Cold, cloudy, and rainy day here in Hamburg. So with today’s episode I feel quite sure, that the sun is still out there.
Thanks for the dance.
Not all young people are clueless when it comes to dancing. I’m 23 and I can waltz and swing dance.
Love to give you some lessons! ;) You could do it, your frame (the way you hold your arms when dancing) looks good. Good frame is the key to good dancing.
Adorable piece . . . !
Ya’ll make Fridays something to look forward to! Great piece! I loved the couple (together) at the end.
Thanks!
I think if I was an old man and someone asked me if I wanted to dance my last dance I would be insulted!!!!
….well, unless it was Joanne asking then it would be fine.
Jack, my dear, sometimes there’s nothing to get or assemble; sometimes there’s just an effect given off, and the effect of this piece for me was really pleasant. Very sweet.
Fantastic!! I just have one question tho….
Amanda who?
Hey,
Now that was refreshing! I found myself smiling. Nice job guys!
So totally charming!!!
Thank you for sharing Central Park (?) with us on a beautiful Fall day.
Had I been there, Joanne, I would have lead you in a waltz like two leaves floating upon the autumnal air.
Autumn really becomes you.
(Music up: theme song from the Graduate: All the leaves are brown … )
I feel better about RB now. They had the good sense to put the Icon of Western Civilization back on center state.
Have a really Blessed Day…
Bill the PR Guy in Full Fall Reverie
Great work, those folks were awesome!!!
Is that guy Irish who danced with Joanne? Definitely sounded Irish. :)
A beautiful piece, Joanne. Perfectly in tune with the time of year and the biggest smile I’ve had all week.
Thank you!
Wonderful RB!!
Very appropriate, almost felt like the moment just before the last waltz!
Very sweet. Not enough of that these days.
awww, that ‘couple’ was the sweetest.
best. rocketboom. ever.
Bravo! The first Rocketboom to bring tears of joy to my eyes. Reminds me of my Gram who thrived to almost 98. Life is what you make it. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.
Love it, love it, love it.
Very entertaining and brought a large smile to my face. Extremely well put together.
Thanks RB
I like autumn. My favorite time of the year (spring next). Fresher air. No insects! The harvest. The festivals. No insects. Cooler days. The colours. No insects. All around the best time of the year. Did I mention no insects?
Bonsoir,
Nice episode.
a small sociological remark :
It is interesting to note that the lack of communication between the generations, here like the dance, brings a increasing heterogeneity of our society.
The impoverishment of values transmission towards the future is a pity reality.
Thanks RB to highlight this loss, vital for our evolution, concerning the channels of communication by a ludic context.
This is the same in all countries.
Good WE.

Joanne, you are great.
Joanne has a genuine sweetness about her which, i believe, is perfectly suited to Rocketboom. This story proves it.
What’s your secret to a long and fulfilling relationship?
She lives on one side of the park and I live on the other side……
Great piece, charming, bittersweet, as others have said well. And excuse me, but how gorgeous is Joanne?! Drew, how do you find these extraordinary women?!
JELOHAC,
The secret to thier relationship….being seperated by Central park is very cute and funny I agree.
and STEPH from Paris, I believe you hit a proverbial nail on the head. This piece brings up some interesting points on values and our society that should be adressed.
We must all dance the Last dance!
Here’s a great site with free instructional videos on many types of ballroom, social, etc. dances. http://www.ballroomdancers.com/

That old guy with the pony tail was kind of a jerk. His woman should leave him.
I love the fall and I’m kind of glad the sweltering heat of NYC summer is over. I dance the last dance with glee.
A wonderful way to end the week. Perfect.
The park, the people, the long shadows, the music…
What a nice feeling this piece conveyed.
Thanks for that.
That was the best video I have ever seen. British people are our friends. Go Britain
Nab :
you should come here.
We use to dance like this :

I agree that in the middle of Central Park, it is not properly “suitable”.
Very nice. Joanne was perfect. I think the last old guy was a gigilo.
In Great Britain, they can dance like this :

“Impossible is not French” ;)

Bush ans friends should know it.
That certainly made me smile- I hope my husband and I are that cute later on in life!
Man… I gotta get me some old people.
Was this encoded with H.264 today or something? It seems to me to be crisper.
Wonderful episode. It’s really a shame how not many people at all would stop to give you the time of day… or even talk back like the first person.
Wonderful, sweet, and very touching.
Thanks for this episode.
I’m in love with you joanne!
;)
keep up the good work guys!
A great change from all the techno stuff of the past week or so. Brought a smile and a chcukle.
Joanne and old or new waltz fans…
That was lovely.
I’m far from NYC, but just checked the cdny calendar for you… and found a workshop that sounds like a good follow-up to casual Friday in the park:
“Swept Away… the Art of Waltzing,” Sunday, Nov. 19, on the Top Deck at the Seamen’s Church Institute near South Street Seaport.
It’s billed as an advanced waltz workshop, but if today’s outing was Joanne’s first time, I bet she can pick it up…
After the workshop, just her romantic cup of tea, literally: “…then enjoy couple dancing, a break for tea, and a spectacular view of the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset.”
See http://cdny.org for more, particularly http://www.cdny.org/waltz.pdf
And to warm up with some old-time American contradancing (with a waltz or two thrown in), try one of the regular cdny Saturday night dances Fall Fling on Nov. 4
http://cdny.org/fallfling.pdf
I wish I could join you.
PS Here in Knoxville, the weekly contradance is on Monday night.
So sweet.
I like the moment you captured as they walked away.
i would have waltzed with you, joanne!
I can already see the show getting better. Great show today. Whoever was behind the camera, your very good at filming! Joanne, your quite good at “the waltz”.
Bye Guys,
Chris
I loved the sound of a 78 rpm recording(even coming from an Ipod) with all its wow and flutter and surface noise to add just the right aural atmosphere. A nice touch indeed. This attention to atmospheric detail is what separates RB from he rest of the pack
Cheers, Joanne!
You got old people to dance in the park! That is one of the more uplifting things I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, after a long day in the office. :)
If you’re ever in northern California, I’d love to waltz with you!
Thank you!
Hi,
Just bought an iMac 24 and it has opened up a whole new world for me (get a life Barry!) Saw Andrew Baron’s video at Portable Media Expo and thought it interesting. I liked the customer focus. “Everyone get back! I think he’s trying to focus!â€Â
Then saw Joanne Colan’s waltz in the Park. Delightful! Watched her interview with webpronews and thought how delightful she was too. Great smile, intelligent, sensitive and good energy.
Co-incidentally I was approached today by some Parliamentary Company in the UK to participate in a blog on training. Only 6 companies chosen. Sounds great but it will cost me nearly £2k - that’s what my Apple iMac cost with all the bells and whistles.
And up until tonight I have never watched a podcast so this is all new but also scarily co-incidental. A bit like the Celestine Prophecy. Where will it all lead to, I wonder?
Shall I take the red pill or the blue pill in the Matrix? How do I make a podcast and what is a blog? Don’t answer I’ll look it up.
A new life at 64! The iMac was a birthday present to myself. I’ve always wanted an Apple but ‘duty’ prevailed and I lumbered myself with a corporate, work based Microsoft all those years! Just bought a second hand laser dinghy too. Whe-e-e! I’m young again!
Barry
(I just copied this from webpronews where I posted it by mistake. Still learning!)
Yay! That was great. I want to dance with Joanne too.
Genius.
wow, didn’t we conclude yesterday that men weren’t too sentimental? the comments to today’s show are inspiring.
RB was absolutely the high point in my day today….too bad I couldn’t watch until 11pm!!!
very Woody Allen…
Hey Nab :
great vids too.
Actually, who is the “directeur” ? ;)
S.
Joanne;
That was one of the most touching things that I have seen in a very long time.
Bravo!

1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3
The bats are in the belfry
The dew is on the moor
Where are the arms that held me
And pledged her love before
And pledged her love before
It’s such a sad old feeling
The hills are soft and green
It’s memories that I’m stealing
But you’re innocent when you dream, when you dream
You’re innocent when you dream, when you dream
You’re innocent when you dream….

“One of us lives on that side of the park…and one of us lives on that side of the park…” Awesome. Classy. Nice work Ian and Joanne.
Nice park. What was it called again? It’s always nice to see Newyorkers not mugging one another.
But seriously, if the USA becomes a police state as the Neocons and the mainstream media are planning, that may just be the last waltz for everything.
That was about the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. Are all folks from NYC so cold in the fall?
This is the lamest Rocketboom I’ve seen in a long time.
halo, joanne that is point.no aids in italy,no aids in germany,no aids in england.where is that?this is the matter to day(the one’s brain flight).and the walzer is good sport but I like tango and samba ok,bye bye
Does’nt get any better. THANX !
Wow! I’m charmed! And for some strange reason slightly moved.
Hey Joanne! Update your blog :)
Joanne, you’re presentation is so relaxed, charming and wonderful. Great camera work and editing by the team too.
On screen, you are rapturous.
Hey, after you finish with Rocketboom, (which won’t be for a while, I’m sure) you can come work for me in Australia.
All the best for the cool NYC months.
I am sad that this generation has lost the ability to dance WITH one another. Interacction is a lost art. Sweet video….
