Beautiful art! And a beautiful clip. What was the music used for this episode?
Nice post! Where is the music from??
Best
Andrea
Hey RB! That was the best casual friday ever! It was really beautifully shot and edited; a major pat-on-the-back to someone!
And Andrea, I don’t know who did the music but I do know that whoever it was, they did it using Apple’s ‘Garage Band’ and its built-in sound samples. I know that because I did a tune using some of the same samples! Spooky!
Does anyone know where I can get the seeds to grow some of those glass plants. (And why did the ones floating on the pond remind me of John Lennon?)
thats real purdy. nice tuney too.
chahoooooleeeee rocks i love his work.
Again you have out done yourselves.
Nice job.
411 question.
Why is it that shampoo doesn’t feel cold but when my kids fill up the shampoo bottle with water it feels so cold coming out???
Great casual friday video.
Excellent music track! Are you guys really sure it was made with garage band?
I hope you’re not insulted when I say that was a PRO job. Great work!
where’s the music from? If it really is from Garage Band can we get it posted to the RSS feed?
Saw his installation in St Louis this summer. Very nice. Little review on my blog: http://theaestheticelevator.com/2006/09/05/chihuly-in-the-missouri-botanical-garden/
I’m glad you shot this also at night. I got to see it at night, and I couldn’t imagine its being any better by day.

I hope Lex Luthor doesn’t get his hands on the kryptonite plants shown near the end of the video.
Joanne should interview Kayne West on the topic of music awards.
Incredible footage. Beautiful music. Rocketboom=versatile
Very peaceful (love the night shots)
Yupee!!!
That’s what we need - plants made of glass! Who needs fucking forest… it will rot one day anyway.
The video was excellent.
As for Chihuly, who is the art director for the Chihuly brand, scribbling nonsense and then having his ants produce art a la Gehry, and being from Seattle, and also seeing nearly the same thing a billionth time at the Franklin Country Whatchamacallit in Cowtown, Ohio, I have to give a yawn to the installation. I saw one or two things I hadn’t seen before. Other than that, nothing has changed. “ooh, floating bulb things” “ooh, thin red vertical sprouts” seeeeeeeeeen it. So 90’s.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Chihuly. I always thought his reputation was a little beyond the actual work.
Still, it’s always great to look at art, whether it’s something that resonates in you or not.
Have a nice weekend, Rocketboom!
I was watching this and other Internet videos when I realized I missed catching the Borat early show. Jagshemash!
invisible ink
Very nice!
Look at all of that recycled glass! It’s too bad that real flowers won’t grow like that in NYC this time of year.
Very pretty meditative last thing before leaving the office. (The triffids as tall as palm trees were a little scary, though….) Thanks for link to fascinating longer video at Chihuly’s site, including some of his crew at work, molten glass, torches and spaceman outfit… Makes it even more amazing to think of the work that went into the whole Botanical Gardenful… Loved his description of one piece: “half a mile of neon in a budding tumbleweed form and 560,000 volts of energy going through it.”

Even though Kam was a bit late (can’t trust those limo drivers) Leron and I had a great time eating his brownies, then we watched this clip to get in the mood for the Rocketboom Cabal…hmm…meeting…right Kam…kam…

Great exhibit. Chuhuly was exhibiting similar work at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago a couple of years ago. It was in the same setting although it was indoors amongst the palm and fig trees. Anyway I loved that presentation, but was present when someone knocked over one of his pieces. It was a rowdy group of people taking wedding pictures in the conservatory. Oooooh man did they get in trouble! Anyway, not to get too much off track, a very nice casual Friday indeed.

Grape Juice is RB CODE for the 4 cases of wine Kam brought along which inspired us to no end and we all began singing this song to Joanne… man oh man, then the party…hrrmmm…I mean meeting…began! (grape juice - nice touch Leron)

So, where is the video from originally? Don’t you usually offer credits?
I love all the beautiful artwork. Its really ties in with the nature.
FYI: Borat was outstandingly funny. You should have Borat as a guest host on Rocketboom or at least have Joanne interview him (with chaparones present of course) This episode was lovely.
a fine meditative relief. thanx :)
Good cinematography, rack focuses, iris ramps etc… Nice filmmaking and got to love Garagebands world music flare.
Arin

Needs a glass pumpkin.

The Chihuly is beautiful, too !
Where can one find the .mp3 of the music?
