Casual Friday Comments. It turns out we will need to reinstall the comments db in another domain directory due to the auto spam that hits our cgi script.
Please stand by, we are working on it and wont relent until the old comments section is restored, thanks!

can i have the last 2 minutes of my life back please? your faux-informational approach leaves me bored and confused. you managed to turn 12 seconds of information into 2 and a half minutes… maybe Ze’s model is betterâ€â€Âget everyone to send you t-shirt designs to sell out to the masses, rather than wearing the tight t-shirt around your masses and selling out.

You should use a better integrated blog DB engine
you shouldcall Kingsley Idehen at OpenLinksw.com - he will fix you upgood - better database and blog system for Video.
Please dont say thanks no.

Thanks.
Know:
This is more proof that all morons wear hats (as if we needed more proof after Drudge).
The gait Amanda displayed during her kebab-fueled frolic between emails had me thinking she could pull off disguising herself as a 90-year-old (of either gender) and wandering the streets of Manhattan. Might be an interesting premise for another Casual Friday…?
Good luck with the comments fix. I’ll be circulating a petition soon to make spamming punishable by death.

Wow, Andrew Congdon really behaves very similarly to his sister. Acting? Coincidence? Are you twins?
Posted by: Hans Horlacher at May 26, 2006 10:34 AM
thanks, YES.
The Boom is the best on Friday. Outstanding segment. It is what keeps me coming back every Friday and (almost) every day.
Posted by: Bill at May 26, 2006 10:35 AM
Amanda, brilliant performance as the kabob seller! What a creative way of exposing the problems of spam we all unwittingly send (not just crazy spammers, but people like these characters who have good intentions, but need to be wary of whom they send their solicitations to). An e-mail revolution is certainly in order! Thanks, yes!

If ever there was a jump the shark episode for Rocketboom, this was it. Painful, painful stuff to watch. To your credit, I did wait till the end to see if it would click into a worthwhile use of my 2 minutes. It did not. I am inspired that something so badly executed (my opinion, I’m sure others thoiught it was worthwhile) can be so popular. Hope for us all looking to create something that can also hit the pop charts of internet airwaves. Good luck.

most boring and retarded casual friday to date. congrats!
Posted by: Rik at May 26, 2006 11:55 AM
And I thought Spam was the official meat of the internet.. who knew.. now I’ll have to start sending kebabs.. thank you.. no..
Posted by: ray at May 26, 2006 11:56 AM
Spanks? Yes!
With all due respect, Amanda, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity with the kebobs. Many noted scientists have said that kebobs are the wave of the future. Beyond being the ultimate food delivery systm, transportation officials are considering a future where commuters ride to work on massive people-kebobs. After all, what works for food always works as sound public policy. Just look at the Minneapolis “Marinade Doctrine”.

Shouldn’t it be Kaboob! Not kabob. Kaboob owns 95% of the internet now, but wait…breaking news….
THE DARK SIDE WANTS TO TAKE CONTROL… so vhat else is new!
Whether advertising is invasive or non-invasive this is what happens when corporate entities pull out the tentacles and take over. Content was a big issue one day last week. Well, guess who wants control of your content? Sad thing is, these guys have the bucks to make it happen.

And……………………more breaking news……………
I think Scientologists have infiltrated HONDA. The brain waves are coming! The brain waves are coming!

Merlin Mann’s site becomes more useful every time I visit (I even ’shudder’ use the paper pda…). At the risk of dating myself, it’s the Whole Earth catalog of life hacks.

Andrew C, in your first segment I thought you were just being yourself, a self-centered partial idiot riding on your sister’s coattails. That was why the character was so realistic after all. But that Butterworth character — that was genius. So I guess was wrong, you’re a great comic actor and probably Bulldog isn’t really you after all. In fact, looking at the Bulldog segment again I see it’s really funny too, now that I’m in on it. Anyway, hope to see you on more shows.
I also really liked the music and camera work in this ep.
And Amanda, brilliant anchor/narration as usual. Although your generous talents do not include playing comedic characters, the kabob-guy wasn’t too bad. Better than Loretta anyway.
That’s enough gushing for now. Would you like to hear about all the stuff I didn’t like? Thanks, no? OK.
Posted by: Nab at May 26, 2006 12:44 PM
Painful. I’m glad you guys are around and like RB most of the time, but, like a friend who should tell you when you’re embarrassing yourself, you’re embarrassing yourself.
Posted by: Tony at May 26, 2006 12:55 PM
Clever and stupid — I expect no less.
KABOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(or kebabs, if you prefer)
p.s. I’ll never get one of these e-mails for sending you my deepest darkest secrets, will I Amanda????? I thought not. Good day to you.
p.p.s. Did you say “Thanks. No.” to line breaks?
p.p.p.s. Requiring an e-mail address & posting it makes baby Jebus cry.
Posted by: GOD at May 26, 2006 01:19 PM
Well look at that… line breaks.
Your preview has gone a little screwy. It didn’t show line breaks and it looked like you were posting e-mail addresses.
Or, I’m just having another mental breakdown, in which case just ignore me.

the one who receives the thanks no will say oh thanks yes!! i got a reply!

Let’s hope it’s really not jump-the-shark time, but instead maybe 400-episodes-is-time-to-take-a-vacation time.
Nepotism is never good, even in videoblogging.
Have a good Memorial Day everyone!

Amanda needs to teach someone how to chug beer. Those cans were clearly already empty.
Alas, 72 hours until the next boom. Or are you taking the holiday, you loafers?

amanda i liked rocketboom so much right after that rolling stone article i was like “hooray, a new place to go when bored” then u turned me onto ze. thanks, because now your show has lost something its easy to see that his show is only getting better. good luck

As a ‘Christopher James’, I feel rather insulted by today’s Vlog…
Posted by: Christopher James at May 26, 2006 03:23 PM
I liked it. I think a lot of the objections came from guys waiting for that e-mail from Amanda saying “let’s hang out, Dude”.
I think it’d gonna be a long wait.
Posted by: SteveL at May 26, 2006 03:49 PM
You yanks crack me up.
I’m off for a run.
Posted by: Niko at May 26, 2006 04:05 PM
“the one who receives the thanks no will say oh thanks yes!! i got a reply!”
In my opinion, not replying at ALL ( if that is what you are suggesting) may fall into being immature or rude… Which polls say is bad.
It would be fun to reply with this video instead of the whole letter, maybe they even could come and post another pompous comment.
GReetings Rocket Staff.

Wow, the heat you get for doing something fun….
So quick these people are with their negativity over something that is FREE!!!!
Audiences are so fickle aren’t they? (like they could do better …)
I’d say something clever like “Get Lives Folks!” but it would be a waste of a good fontwork.
How did you make the characters glow while in motion across the field? Very cool!
Posted by: rabbett at May 26, 2006 05:27 PM
i love my dear rocktboom, watch my vlog
Posted by: jesse at May 26, 2006 06:25 PM
Nice.
I am forced to assume that ‘Andrew Congdon’ is in fact a spliced-gene combination morph of andrew and amanda.
Posted by: ronen at May 26, 2006 06:52 PM
Hmm. I guess I don’t get it.
Seems to me that thanksno.com is primarily aimed at people who do the forwarding, mass e-mailing, and cc’ing faux pas(es). I don’t see how the examples you gave are really related to those at all.
If you start drawing this line, how are viewers going to know when you might consider a submission (or link, or t-shirt) valuable and when you’ll send back a letter requesting no further e-mail? Seems like a good way to lose a viewer to me when you could be a little more polite instead.
Posted by: Justin at May 26, 2006 07:10 PM
Rockin…freakin…roll. How do you do it? Wit? Alcohol? Lack of sleep? Spining yourself in circles until you’re silly? Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know what’s behind the curtain. Keep ‘em coming crew…keep them coming!!!

I would hate to be the bringer of bad news, especially to vlog geeks, however: Gummi Bears are made primarily out of gelatin which is itself made out of PIG KNUCKLES i.e. cartilage. Now, that wouldn’t normally be a problem however in the USA farmers are in fact feeding dead cows’ ground up carcasses to pigs. That wouldn’t normally be a problem, but only 0.1% of all cows in the USA are tested for Mad Cow disease. That wouldn’t normally be a problem, but Mad Cow has a way of destroying humans’ brains.

I’d been looking for a way to politely tell my friends to f**k off and stop sending me lame ass invitations to social networking sites or chain letters that predict that you’ll meet your true love today… or die in an accident if you don’t forward the email. Thanks, No is the perfect solution!

It can’t be expected that every single person who watches Rocketboom will fall in love with the show or take to heart what Amanda reports.
But maybe that’s the awesomeness of internet videoblogging. Instead of catering to the masses by determining what people want to hear by airing blatant mental waste 24/7/365, sites like rocketboom continue to pump out much more profound-entertaining news on a daily basis than cnn or fox ever has in its existence!
Great work, rocketboom. Keep coming out with intelligent and humorous shows and your viewers will continue to multiply!!

God, I love Casual FridaY
Love da Boom
If everyone listend to all the critics of the world there wouldn’t be any creativity or beauty in new ideas. Keep doing what you’re doing……. I enjoy my daily rocketboom and wouldn’t want it any other way!
Amanda you rock girl!…….
Much love from the West Coast of Canada.
Hi I would have sent this in the suggent a story section but it wont work on this computer. Sorry. my friend showed me this very intresting clip on cspan.org that i thought you should see. The clip is listed under the audio/video section at the bottom of the page. It is called “Comedian Stephen Colbert at White House Correspondents’ Dinner” and it runs about 25 min. Its great.
Why my comment was erased?
By the way… I don’t know what are you smiling about when you say “thanks, no” … I don’t see any reason to make a big frantic fake smile… at least you could do it chewing gum loud, wearing a tight top and playing with your hair…
Gummi bears are made from pig knuckles. Which is to say, their principal component — gelatin — is made from cartilage.

I think you worry too much! If what they say about Mad Cow is true, we will all die anyway. Great episode!
Thanks, no!
