A mission statement? Sheesh, people are really trying to turn this into TV. I hope this doesn’t get here.
I didn’t like this episode, but that’s fine. Drew and Amanda, please remember that this is your creation; do what you think is right, and let the viewers guide you, not force you to wherever it is you go next. All bloggers and vloggers should remember that it’s up to them what they do, and it shouldn’t matter (within reason) whether anyone else thinks they “belong”. If you think this or any vlog is crap, don’t whine about it - just merrily go on your way and find another one. That’s the great thing about the Internet: it’s not TV. There’s something, somewhere, for you.
Rocketboom is it for me, and it’s not about attractiveness, popularity, or any of that. It’s often good, informative entertainment - and I was hard-pressed to find that on any TV screen I saw.
I like how Loretta comes out when something might boost RB’s popularity (now, CSI…). It’s not all about numbers here. It’s not TV.
No it’s not TV! But it should still be entertaining enough if IT wants to stick around and have a following.

Couple thoughts on the vlogging thing
Video blogs aren’t for everyone. There’s still a prohibitive cost factor (nice computer, nice camera) as well as a technological learning curve for filming, editing, uploading, and hosting, your content. Sure you could rtfm, there’s lots of em online, but only technical minded people really know how to do that already, a nice catch 22.
And 2ndly, you gotta have something you deem worthwhile to say, and you gotta have something lots of other people deem worthwhile to listen to to be popular - and then you have to pay for hosting (prohibitive again), well unless you torrent it or slap it on youtube or something else, and those kinda sites have an unknown future right now anyway.
But yeah, blogs, and video blogs, are cool, and they’re a new medium for freedom of expression, and as such should be protected by the 1st amendment.
Even if they’re lame like the fake one you showed today.

Casey seems like she has less of a budget than Loretta. She’s a bit more streamlined too. Noting there is going to cause any turbulence at high speeds. But it is interesting to see what gets inspired by RB.
