Amanda, I’m a big fan of the show and watch it regularly. Keep up the good work.
Just had to say something about your beer vendor story… yes, I’m sure they would know about what’s going on at the ballpark. But baseball is a “boring” game? Without going on at length here, I couldn’t disagree more. It’s beautiful, a chess match with moments of explosion thrown in. Apparently you never had someone who cares about the game introduce it to you. But anyways, love the show!

Regarding yuor comments on Bill Gates dissing the $100 laptop project, it is no coincidence that Craig Barrett, Intel CEO ( http://www.engadget.com/2005/12/09/intel-chairman-harshes-on-mits-olpc/ ) was busy last week ALSO bashing Negreponte’s vision. When Intel and Microsoft go out of their way to put you down you KNOW you are doing something right!

Last time I had a PC custom-built for me - I used to do them myself, but I got tired of scraping my knuckles - I read over the parts manifest, and the single most expensive component (not counting the monitor, which was purchased separately) was a copy of (gag) Windows.
No wonder Chairman Bill doesn’t want $100 laptops around: they don’t allow for $90 to be sucked into the Great Maw of Redmond.

Amanda - Bravo on covering MARINA’s Pandemic Podcast. Most people do not understand the immense problems a pandemic of Bird Flu will cause. It is perhaps the gravest threat the human race faces. Dr. Robert Webster, the world’s leading Flu expert who has been studying H5N1 (bird flu) said last week on ABC news that as of now, there is a 50-50 chance of bird flu turning into a pandemic in which 50% of the earths population could die. We should listen. He knows. While the government’s motto has been “inform, not inflame”, H5N1 continues it’s spread worldwide. The only thing we as individuals can do is prepare our homes for self imposed quarentine of up to 3 months, should the pandemic occur.
