“They just come into my head from Pluto.”
The planet or the cartoon charachter?
Nice show today.
Once again ingeniously communicating the opportunities of the web. Excellent.
Very nice show, and cool music in the background. Seems somewhat similar in style to the rocketship song ;)
Thank you…this was much more entertaining than Dan Rather.
Good info. Thanks.
fff
i understand alexa kitchen, the same happens to me….they just come into my head from Manda
I think I have a secret crush on Sherng-Lee Huang…
Ah, brings back memories of getting the latest ZAP or Yellow Dog comix in the ’70’s. I LOVED the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers back then. Wishing them all the best of luck.
I thought this was a great report. Very entertaining, and I liked hearing from the different artists.
Ok. Where can i get the ENTIRE Rocketboom theme song? I want to blast it from my car as I cruse the strip, yo. =) Seriously, who made it and where can i get it?
Inspiring. I’ve been doodling cartoon ideas for years. As soon as I heard “quit his day job and never looked back” I knew I had to act. I’m off to explore the web and find out what tools I need to start a web comic.
What happen to motion abby?
Whent to show a few people and it was gone. What the…
Why is it gone and can you put it back?
Thanks
Thanks for another great show!!
Diesel Sweeties rocks!

I liked his Palmer Cash T-shirt…ive got a few of them myself.
Amanda, your Freakin Gorgeous!
Looks like you guys beat us to this handsome new comic correspondent… awesome report, Sherng-Lee!
I have only one beef (which has nothing to do with RB), I dislike how the guy at the end says “5 million kids”… he should have said “5 million people”, “kids” don’t really care about web comics as much as adults.
Outstanding report today. Amazing that an independent artist can gain 250,000 regular readers through the web. Yet another example of how this medium is decentralizing media conglomerate power. As someone who comes from the world of independent comic book publishing, it is difficult to convey how HUGE a success that is in that world!
In my defense, I call myself and my Mom and the President “kids”. It’s just my generic word I use instead of “dudes” or “humans”. Old habit, gotta keep it under control when I date someone younger than me.
Leron! I would love to know more about how how to figure out audiences and demographics, but I went to art school and work without a support staff. (OK, I have one person who helps fold t-shirts)
Any suggestions on how to wrangle numbers better would be extremely welcome.
me likey!
fyi, I used to watch CBS News to hear Dan Rather’s opinions. Since yesterday I no longer watch CBS News.
I applaud anyone with the passion to work independently in a creative genre. I too took that risk a few years ago, After selling my first screenplay, I quit my 40 hour work week.
As for this numbers game thing, I’m lucky, I only have to keep tabs on the checking account. The fool I mean Producer who buys my screenplays has to worry about bottom lines.
Oh yeah,,,, nice shoes.
What exactly is your criteria for “prodigy”? It is true that Alexa Kitchen is 8-years old and draws pictures, but the difference between hers and the vast majority of other children’s are that hers are being published by market-saavy parents.
See Kitchen, Lind and Assc, LLC– Artist Representation.
Wow!! Do you think the guy giving the tour was a gay. I think that he has been on his knees a few times in his day. lol. I really like that little girl. I hope that she does not turn in to a bleeding heart liberal like you could tell all of those people were. I hope she gets to listen to michal savage. I sure can learn the truth about liberism that it is a metal disorder.
Richard,
Leron is right-on with advice. Suggest you start with the people you pay to post your work. Some web-hosting companies will (for a few more bucks) provide all sorts of metrics.
Good luck!
I actually post the comics and do most of my web work myself… BUT these very comments have gotten my friends and I talking about sharing logs. Hopefully something will come of it.
Great VodShow!
To me, this show today is what makes rocketboom special. Giving us an inside look at a world we’re not all that familiar with. And kudos to Sherng-Lee– that’s the kind of quality reporting that rocketboom should strive for.
thanks, rocketboom, for making my day.
I have a crush on rstevens.
back in my grad school days I had a whole pile of modelling programs that estimated population characteristics based on mark-recapture data. Never thought about applying them to web readership though. I’ll have to think about that one.
Fantastic choice of subject, good reporting.
This is what people generally hope vlogs will do, give us important reporting that the mainstream ignores because of bean counters or bias.
Cool Report! And I watched it on my TIVO too :)
Lots of coverage of webcomics goes on daily at the 3 three old industry bible (using “industry” and “bible” very loosely) for webcomics: Comixpedia at comixpedia.com
There’s also a growing wikified encyclopedia of webcomics at comixpedia.org.
