  3. These were the most entertaining tree-huggers I’ve seen in a long time.

The tweety birds in the background were a nice touch as well.

Amanda is a bit more photogenic than Bre in all honesty.

  10. Very interesting! I couldn’t work out if the final “moment” was the ringing of the bell or a drop of water falling into a pond?

  11. Awesome!

In school I built a Rube Goldberg device that actually did a card trick. It went through about a dozen different objets / machines, and then at the end there is a red deck of playing cards on a platform. A magician’s top hat drops down on top of the cards, triggers a weight to fall which pulls the hat back up, and when the hat is lifted the deck of cards is now blue.

I really wish I had video of that! And of course, I can’t actually tell you how the “magic” worked…

  16. Yikes, what a lot of crappy attitudes.

    Oooommmm, guys, chill out.

I thought “rubeburg au natural” was wonderful, appropriate to it’s setting, with the bell as a fitting finale. However, sadly failing to impart it’s peace to some viewers.

Guys, Amanda is just a click away in the archives, nu?

  18. Great clip if a little out of date.

The vernacular “Rube Goldberg machine” was officially replaced a few years back with the phrase, the “Donald Rumsfeld Device”.

Otherwise, a great piece. Hope Amanda enjoys the weekend!

  21. I was going to make some lame comment like “someone’s got too much time on their hands” and “what kind of awful parents would name their son after cheese” (yes, I know it’s spelled Brie), but what the hell, it’s Friday. Why shouldn’t those guys spend a few days in the woods making….whatever. If it gets them up from the alter of Roddenberry and out into the fresh air then go for it.

  28. Lovely RB today. Amanda is very nice to see when she is here but let her be when she is not. Or she becomes a fetish object and her body does too and that is no good. Try to enjoy a nice offering when it comes your way.

  31. This was fun. I especially liked the spinny leaf thing.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Honda commercial a few years back in which they built a Rube Goldberg machine out of all the parts of the car. At the end, the machine finally causes the car to roll down a little ramp and present itself. The camera work actually allowed you to see what was happening (sorry Bre).

Anyone else remember this? It’s one of the best I’ve seen.

  34. Verry nicely done!

Please also have a look at the work of the world famouse artists: Peter Fischli & David Weiss.
They made a film caled Der Lauf der Dinge (thats german and means: “the way things go”) it is 30 minutes long and none stop “action reaction objects”. When i first saw it i was realy amazed (and still am). It has been released on DVD so if you can find it bey it!
I think they are to old to be online people.. so i could not realy find a good personal site of them..
but if you google for these words “Lauf der dinge Peter Fischli David Weiss” you wil get a couple of hits.

  36. I’m so sick of looking at that backdrop, glad she got out of the “studio” which is probably just a wall in her converted living room or something. Do you really think they didn’t edit that sequence? Come on how stupid are you people? This is the cut and paste generation, remember? Hello non-linear digital video editors? So, when exactly is this “new media” supposed to replace TV? About the same time the “new math” takes over? Last I checked people still add and subtract. So is Rocketboom hot media or cold media? This feedback isn’t really replied to in the segments unless you are in the “cool kids” clique at the lunch table equivalent of this message board, so I don’t think it is that “hot”. The idea is a good one for sure, but the wider her viewing audience, the more she becomes like regular “old” media like TV, there has to be by definition less response, less feedback, more static. It is kind of a catch 22. And another thing, the way some of you guys fawn over her! Sure she is attractive, but if you’re just looking for a lil t and a, there are 100s of other places you can find that with hotter chicks. You know, I guess I just don’t get it. All the fuss. Clue me in, please, would you?
