Congrtulations Robert! You da man!
Quit kissing ass amanda.
im going back to zefrank.. hes funnier..
He didn’t look too happy about that Boss remark. Uh oh, do we have two leaders and a problem?
Patrick, that is a fine t-shirt.
By the way, why isn’t RB beating the drum for net neutrality?
pretty good amanda!
what about net neutrality… ?
All these people want Amanda to tell them how she did it so they can do it too. The problem is I don’t think Amanda knows how she did it.
Rocketboom get $85,000 a week from advertisers according to Scoble.
So those news stories aren’t just news stories, are they?

Amanda was interviewed on CNN’s “Reliable Sources”. Here’s a transcript. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/11/rs.01.html (Scroll down; it’s at the end.)

KURTZ: Are you a journalist or do you just impersonate one on the Internet?
CONGDON: Yeah. I’m about as much of a journalist as Jon Stewart.
________________________________
CONGDON: I think that younger audiences are really going to blogs and going to video blogs because they do like that honest, candid approach and when they feel like they can get to know someone that they’re really involved with the site, I think that they become more interested in what’s going on.

Okay, the net neturality deal needs way more exposure from you guys. Rocketboom is an example of something that would be negatively affected by a lack of net neutrality and I’ve only seen very minor mentions of it in the past on RB. A big story is past due… Anyway, everyone knows about Robert Scoble leaving.
Obviously, the young Scoble is the smart one in the family.
hey everybody, don’t worry, we do have something prepared for net neutrality, it has just taken a while to get ready for the show, so everyone that’s concerned about a lack of RB coverage on the subject needn’t worry any longer. It’s coming very soon.
Scooped by the Jet Set Show! - they covered net neutrality last week.
What I learned from today’s Rocketboom:
1. Robert Scoble’s son is under the impression that he needs more stuff and that his father needs to give him more money.
2. Robert Scoble has a perfect MegaNerdâ„¢ laugh.
3. Rocketboom is hot and it’s popularity is soaring ever upwards, like some kind of fuel powered space cylinder…What do they call those…?
My two cents: Amanda Congdon, you are simply the most gorgeous, intelligent (and oh, so hysterical) person on the ‘Net.
And I thank you for doing your thing! I’m spreading the word.
$85K/week works out to more than $4.4 million simoleons a year. That seems to be their high-dollar package, though. Who knows what an average advertiser buys from them.
Apparently RB averages about 250,000 daily viewers, so advertisers are paying about 7 cents per viewer per day.
I would guess the local news and weather in any major metropolitan area would pull in a similar number of viewers. Of course, RB has a wider geographical reach and targets a choice demographic.
The local news and weather also has a lot more overhead expense, and they are producing 10 or 20 times as much daily content as RB.
RB makes a pretty good paycheck for what is basically a fanzine.
Amanda, you are a jouranlist. You just have no formal training. And it shows. But, you are a journalist. Really. Sometimes. And you should try and get better at it. It’ll make you famous if you do. Er, more famous. Mainstream famous.
Or maybe you don’t wan’t to be mainstream famous?
Well, it’d make the show better too.
Ask the hard questions, and ask them in such a way that they have to be answered. Don’t let em squirm out of it. Thats my cons crit for the day.
Nice show today.
buh bye!
I usually go by the philosophy of ‘do what you want, and I’ll either watch or not.’
But…
A video podcast about podcasting seems a little self-indulgent. Would TV be any good if 5% of the content was about how good TV is?
Okay I saw the enchanting Zadi in the background. So how can I meet Zadi?
Does that guy laugh like a Geek or what? I suppose its his cross to bear as he laughs all the way to the Banco.
Hmmm….videoblogging interviews with co-workers. The great Scoble has given me some inspiration for incorporating vlogging into the workplace (and here I was still working on just blogging…) Hmmmm. Something to ponder.
Sma: I find television far worse: a good 25% of TV is about TV. Or my fav’rite, news about news. One of Rocketboom’s areas of coverage is the new media, so this does fit in with their mandate.
Amanda:
I didn’t know about Scoble until I saw it here, so thanks for this live coverage!!
This looks very interesting, I’ll have to make sure to keep an eye on this site!
Alan — did anybody on here say there is something wrong with RB grabbing big sacks of money? I hope they rake in the loot until they have to hire sherpas to reach the top of the pile.
As for Amanda’s journalistic credibility — I think you have to judge her work based on its own merits and not the rep of the school she attended.
RB is a pleasant daily entertainment that is still new and evolving. It’s not 60 Minutes or the New York Times, and I don’t think anyone expects it to be.
Amanda is an engaging comic actress. Her own comparison of her work to Jon Stewart is apt.
Stewart draws a pretty good paycheck, too.
Hartless, too late - your intelligence has already been sucked out. Good move, however, letting Ze do your thinking for you. It’s a nasty job, but somebody has to do it.
Just to be clear, Amanda,
If I saw you IRL, I would, most likely, completely flip out.
So please don’t mind the earlier comment on your journalism abilities too much.
K bye
Rockin’ interview with the Scoblester; wonder if he executed those Microsoft options? The Prince performance bests this, of course. More Prince!
Amanda,
Great interview with Robert and John. John is a great guy and I wish them all the success that they deserve at Podtech.net
