This is a truly inspiring episode. Rocket Boom demonstrates the power of the internet. Thank you, Amanda, for your continually diverse and engaging vlog!
Thanks for showing us this
I miss the rocket boom theme song. zoom zoom…
Laughter through tears, man. Did anyone else see the stat about Africans paying $1800 per Gigabyte storage per month? (Compared to $20 avg in the West).
Good job getting the word out about such a good cause.
There may be hope for the internet yet.
Good one Amanda ~
Thanks for sharing this wonderful effort - I only wish I hadn’t watched this at work *sniff*.
I love when you guys run focal pieces such as this one.
Seriously, thank you so much for this.
Here again is an interesting article I posted last week when I raged against the 180 member states of WHO…
yeah who?

AIDS Toll May Reach 100 Million in Africa
Jun 03 4:04 PM US/Eastern
Perhaps, Jon Rawlinson should take over WHO’s inept handling of the AIDS crisis in Africa…all the money that goes to pay the international league of Super Rotundo Beaurocrats could probably drastically reduce if not eradicate the Aids problem & educate many in the villages of Africa….
Direct donation seems the way to go, instead of feeding the fat cats who drive from banquet to banquet in chauffeur driven limos…
Great report! As a returned Peace Corps Volunteer myself (Cameroon, West Africa 2002-2005), this hit home. More power to those who want to help make a difference in the world any way possible.
Thank you, Amanda, for giving this the spotlight it needs.
Keep up the great work! I am a huge fan of Rocketboom!
Thanks so much everyone! We really appreciate it!!!

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing this. It’s very personal and direct stories like this that get very little, if any, attention in the mainstream media. Sure, we know that Africa has the highest incidence of AIDS in the world but it’s so much more meaningful when connecting with a personal, on the ground story like this. Keep up the great work.
leron,
I just had a chance to check out your Menthos vid from Monday. Gross…but cool.
I’ve noticed that a lot of RB stories I see in the morning(the “revenge” vlog from last week, the Menthos/Diet Coke from Mon.) end up on the National news that night. You’re scooping the pros.
This is the man I’m going to marry :)
Amazing! Thank you…
the excitement in our eyes only match the thrill in our hearts only more than the pulse in our hands! just like amanda and the rest of us who believe in what we do and are extatic at this new way to share we sparkle and crackle through the net we weave. thank you rocketboomers again and again for being there and here!
I wouldn’t mind donating if I knew it would go towards sterilization and/or condoms. 47% HIV??
I don’t know how anyone could watch that video and not be moved by the simple human tradgedy that is occuring in Africa. Yet, apparently, some people can. Sad. I’m sending money because it’s needed and helping others helps them and at the same time helps me.
This really made my day. I’m always interested in innovative uses of the “new media”. Nice one.
Thank you everyone for your kind words and donations!!!!
We are approaching $2,000 US!!!!!!
Thats absolutely amazing. In two days, $2,000 U.S. Im totally blown away by everyones generosity. Imagine what $2,000 can buy in an african village!!!!
Cheers,
JON.

Get over yourself Karim. Showing that your ignorant is one thing, but patronising the people who are actually trying to make a difference is pitifull. It’s always easier to sit and moan, about the hardships of being black in a white society, well i’ve tried it, and if you weren’t so busy complaining and excluding yourself, you might find that life doesn’t suck. The class of neo-racist blacks you repræsent make me ashamed of my herritage.
Don’t know if anyone ever comes back to look at these posts but I’d like to respond to the negro in the back row. As of January 4, 2007 we officially became a registered non profit organization in Botswana. We have no desire to get a 501 (c) 3 as we are not an American non-profit organization. We are now legally and officially registered in our country of origin. Thanks to all of you who donated to us. To date, the Rocketboom donors have given us our highest amount of donations over a 2 day time period since we went online. We appreciate each and every one of you.
