The football field is in Munich in the olympic park and I saw some people playing on it when I was there for the World Cup. Very funny to watch - wish I had a video to share with you of that.
BTW the pitch was in the Olympic Park as part of the Fan Fest for the World Cup. We were there with 60,000 Germans watching them play Sweden (in the stadium outside the city) - an awesome atmosphere, almost as good I imagine as being with the 60,000 in the actual stadium!

I’ve watched Rocketboom on and off for the past six months, admittedly not as closely and attentively as I have the past few weeks. Maybe because of the recent drama, or maybe because I feel I have a chance to catch up and feel involved with the new Rocketboom initiative.
Overall, I miss the faster pace the show had before, however this was certainly one of the better shows I had seen since Amanda had left.
better drew–almost a show:
- joanne needs to cut off about 2 inches of her split ends. hot oil treatment might save an inch, but I say nuke two inches.
- you need to triple the pace of the show–i almost fell asleep. the kid missing an eyeball woke me up… but I’m not sure that ogrish footage is a long-term recipe for retaining sleepy viewers.
- if you’re going to define a recurring theme, try and make it more interesting than shoe laces. and try and wait at least 72 hours between recycling the same footage. that way people perceive it as ‘thematic’ and not ‘crap we still had on the hard drive.’
- the jazzbo music footage: that got old in rocketboom 1.0. there are another dozen songs on that record, and “they might be giants” only reworked one of them a decade ago. either be original, or artful, or at least mix it up. TMBG does three. I’d settle for you doing one.
really, where’s the new stuff my friend? such an opportunity to get rid of the things that were old and annoying — the hair bobs, the dorky visual puns, the ridiculous map. all back in version 2.0.
only microsoft manages to do less between revisions.

Speaking of amanda - I have to apologize to you drew. I first linked up to rb through the one red paper clip story and landed right into all the drama behind the scenes which was a pretty interesting story in itself. I listened to amanda story on her blog and it was sooooooo convincing. How could it be anything but true? Well that is till I read your side. Then I got it - Amanda’s actions are totally conducive to someone trying to enforce their legal position. It is weak to go into court and claim ownership after you have quit but if you go in saying you were fired and had acted in good faith the whole time then that is a much stronger postion. Now that makes sense why her version is so different then yours. Boy it must be wierd having your whole drama aired so publically but the upside is the hugh publicity for rb. So all not so bad. Well there ya go - note to self - listen to both sides before judging. geez always something to learn or re-learn

In this episode Joanne says that the blob may have been around for 200 billion years. Nope. The article itself says just 2 billion years, and the age of the entire universe is estimated at 13.7 billion years.

For what, exactly what were the Colombian hackers taking revenge?!? I understand that hackers take pride in attacking government sites but it seems a lame excuse to use a Muslim vs. Hebrew conflict to break the law in the Western Hemisphere. I hope someone catches the hackers and sends them to Lebanon to fight side-by-side with Hezbollah. Then, and only then, will their message have any credibility.
I hate to be a miserable bastard but I just thought Joanne was trying too hard. What happened? She was natural last week. And you don’t need all the silly gimmicks - the paper-catching, ball butting, wacky camera angles. Just be yourself and rely on good content. BTW you seem to be using a fair bit of BoingBoing’s stuff. You called for contributors and you don’t seem to have used them. It’s not time for self-congratulations. This was alright but it didn’t exactly turn my crank, if you know what I mean. But I’m hanging in. Cheers.

have to echo the others: drop the hamanda effects and let jc be jc - she’s a better, more dignified anchor anyway and having her copy what dongdon made a signature is really kinda betraying and underestimating jc’s own unique charms and talent. give her some room to be herself. it’s a formula that worked in the past. trust your judgement and let do her own thing - personality is the currency here. don’t try to manipulate or counterfeit it.

Today was a good show. But I’m not sold on playing football (basketball, or anything) in that piece of land.
I agree with the other posters who said that Joanne must not have the same ways as Amanda, when presenting. I think she could develop herself naturally. I agree with pixelstackr when said that she’s a better anchor. Thats why I think she has to be just herself. I (and I guess, many other) don’t want to see another clone, just let her be herself. I trust her presenting skills.

I’m losing interest in this show. I agree JC didn’t seem herself today and it bugged me. And I guess it’s only me but I don’t find many of these stories interesting. I’d like to see some more important stories but handled in the unique style of RB.
I must *really* be a freak, though, because what I do like is the map. What do you propose replacing the map with? I love maps, personally.
i say keep the map — how is it in any way more “amanda” than anything else? just because people are having difficulty adjusting doesn’t mean it should come down. using their logic, the name “rocketboom” should be changed and all references to “rss” should be changed to “feed-based syndication technology”.
and put a larger target over england — it’s the central foundation of the civilized world after all, both in terms of time zones and the whole stonehenge mystery hints that it could even be where time in fact began, right after rocks were invented. it deserves a special highlighting in my opinion. maybe add a few umlauts to really make it right. and for this idea, i expect you to charge that idiot who’s always “pricing” his ideas US $6 thousand million.
i’m really glad, also, that the question of how old the universe really is has been cleared up on this comment thread. it’s the perfect place for it, and i’ve always been uncertain. until now, that is.

Well, if she claims ownership, I hope she is coherent enough to accept the burdens of a common venture, that is,to participate in the expenses of RB, not only in profits. Because if not, this is not a fair co-ownership. Anyway, having being partners for some time, does not force any of the parts to be partners “till death set them apart”, and no court will tie them together for the eternity (and that is the impression I have of Amanda’s intentions, that is, to be a capitalist partner-wonder if only in profits- untill the end. And that is only viable if Drew agrees, but considering the status of things…), rather than decide the moment of the separation and give each his part of profit, considering that each has to finance her/his part of expenditure necessary to make the show (it’s not free at all)

Well, different sites cover the same news. Some ones will have the advantage of airing them first, sometimes will be RB this one airing it first. Perhaps this one thing for improvement, specially in a increasingly competitive media.
