A little thin, but much better than yesterday’s RB episode. The interviews were very informative. Too bad you didn’t have more time to get a little more flavor of the overall comic-con, as you did in the 21 July 2005 episode.

Hohum, …think a guest host would be better then taped audio. Knowing Joanne would be gone you should have asked Lala when she was in town. Oooolala! Displaced content is making the comments area more popular than the vlog. Will RB ever find an even keel again or will never-ending criticism of the show be the new trend? Shutting down the comments section would be like slamming the door (once again) in the viewers face. …..Won’t really be interested till Joanne gets back.
Good solution Drew - phone, very 21st century ;-). Seriously Well done, that should keep the JoCo addicts happy (but probably not happy enough!) - but what about your voice? - is it all that bad? Let the girl have her holiday - we can wait till next week.

you know what drew, when joanne is on her vacation which i wish is not as amanda’s vacation and i wish also she’s not doing the zidane thing there in france seeing that she’s in soccer, it would be interesting and i say it seriously to see you doing the show!!! perhaps disguised as a new host!! who votes for this?
I keep watching hoping that it will improve. I want both parties to succeed…but Amanda’s latest film is hilarious. This one is ho-hum.

The fact that Drew responded to the overwhelmingly negative comments from yesterday by incorporating JC via cell phone shows one of many reasons why RB is (and vlogs are) unique.

This piece made all those comic books geeks not look quite as geeky. Won’t make me run out and buy a comic book…but at least they look better.
Looks like another week of field reports. When are you guys going back to do the news?
Stuff is happening and you guys need to cover it, not cover comic-con.

Yes, and all we whining “leeches” (?) have the right to note that RB with Amanda at Comic-Con could very well have turned in an interview with Dean Devlin talking about “Flyboys”; with Guillermo del Toro discussing “Pan’s Labyrinth”; with Sam Raimi talking about “30 Days of Night”; with Ben Stiller talking about “Night At The Museum”; with Alfonso Cuaron and Justin Long talking about “Children of Men”; with Robert Rodriguez talking about “Grind House” or Nicolas Cage talking about “Ghost Rider”.
But, then again, people know who Amanda is. Any media student at a junior college could have come up with this scintillating report.

You either have a secret crush on Amanda and feel scorned by her departure, or else you’re the kind of bully-lad that feels empowered by bashing women and putting them in their place.
In any case, there’s really no need for you to trash Amanda every time someone posts something positive about her.
You aren’t changing any minds, only revealing your own rage (or lapse in meds), and you should really go back to pulling the wings off flies, tying cans to cats’ tails, or blackening your ex-girlfriend’s eyes.

Lucas… Stop acting like a child… Don’t trash Amanda in this forum - this is to discuss today’s show… which by the wsy sucked… While I would love to see Rocketboom continue to thrive in version 1.0, BETA 2.0 has been pretty lame. The content needs to be more interesting and informative. The MSNBC newscast was the same in that its nothing new here. Drew has yet to yield anything amazing and seems to be a lack of effort into making Rocketboom succeed with Amanda’s departure. Let’s keep Rocketboom going… do something new, something different, something version 2.0!!
I find it rather interesting that when the current episode of RB is weak, as it was yet again today, the conversation here always degrades to who likes whom better as host when it’s the content that needs replacing. I watched RB 1.0 because of the content not the person delivering it and I would venture to guess this is the case with many of us. Anytime something unfamiliar is introduced to an audience there is bound to be an adjustment period, but the problem here is that there has been ZERO continuity from episode to episode. One day poop and the next day poop, literally. I haven’t given up yet but I have to be honest, that time is soon approaching regardless of the host. Good luck gang.

Of course you are regularly like this, Lucas. And of course you’re going to read what I post. I might have something nice to say about Amanda, and you can’t let that stand!
If you compile the posts I have made here since Amanda left, you will find the majority of my comments have been complimentary of Joanne, praising her comic abilities, with high praise for the Casual Friday TikiBar and “Sliding Doors-Shoelace” segments. But that’s simply a fact so don’t let that get in the way of your rage.
You state, incredibly, that not only do you know Amanda’s feelings about Comic-Con, you slag her because, once upon a time, she didn’t react as you might wish when a group of your geek-friends screamed her name across a hotel lobby.
All the celebrities I know LOVE to be shouted at from across a room. It’s what they LIVE for. They also love to have things thrown at them.
In that Comic-Con is as much, if not more, about Sci-Fi and horror films these days as it is about graphic novels, you would have us believe that Amanda wouldn’t have the slightest interest in anything to do with cinema, SAG card or not.
When nothing else you say has any relation to reality (time for a job in the Bush administration), you resort to reducing any and all that admire Amanda to chicken chokers, telling us to get out the tissues.
Someone is whacking off, all right~~you by way of your keyboard. Too bad’s there’s no money shot. Just you playing Don Quixote while attempting to turn all Amanda’s fans into windmills.
So very sad.

I can think of some other blogs that manage to publish when the host is traveling — and that becomes part of the show and the fun.
Seems like the voiceover could have been recorded on computer then emailed, no? Perhaps with a photo of the host in France instead of the stock image of the two mismatched maps?

Joanne started well, but then goes on vacation. Couldn’t they have forseen this and created some generic video lead ins and bumpers? Cellphone intro with the wrong date?

*ahem* But about this Tuesday episode at hand… I just wanted to say that although I appreciate your being in France, I sure hope that you are collecting some sort of story while you are there. And beyond that, I reccomend that you look for a time, means, and mission to some NON-euro location (or snag another willing reporter) . Rocketboom can only benifit from expanding beyond its USA beginnings with you holding the banner, but predominantly referring over the Atlantic to Continental Europe might apprear slanted all too quickly. We’re happy you speak French. Now go out someplace where you’re as out of your element as the rest of us Ceptics! ;P
