The Finish woman could almost use some subtitles.
JC as a mannequin was cool.
Let’s see JC in a skirt when she goes on a field report:)

  10. That Finnish mannequin really looks like Joanne! Spooky!

…um…..some Finnish trivia that is interesting is that they’re language does not relate to any of the surrounding scandanavian countries….. their language is rooted in Hungarian….

    Wierd huh!

  11. please talk more slowly if at all possible. the information density of this programming is just far too great for me to handle otherwise.

nice use of Fisher-Price Pixelvision camera, though. combine that with the tiki audio and you’re totally up to cable access 1985 standards.

Good work - but please get back to the desk for a bit this has been a strange week.

From Joanne’s linkedIn profile it seems she is a very capable lady. I just hope that you are able to keep her interested and challenged with RB for more than a couple of weeks.

Roll on next week and I hope that is what you are building up for - the field reports this week have been while your studio complex has gone through an upgrade?

  19. Good, but I still think Joanne has less “presence” compared with Amanda. She doesn’t seem to carry the whole weight of Rocketboom, but only being a guest (which she is, of course). But these things take time, and it’s a difficult thing to come in at this time. Let’s see, I wish everybody good luck. And btw: those mannequin were spoooky! :-)

  23. why when you are on the desk when the keyboard-clicking arrives you congeal yourself in this mannequin fashion to show the transitions?? also you could put the desk with all the drawers that we saw today as a background, i say all drawers in the background but each drawer with a map andy-warholized. for this idea i want u$s 60. thanks. i also think that the best are this field reports, when rb can produce its original content and not when you surf the net for us.

  28. I didn’t realize Joanne was playing mannequin, rather I thought she was taking a few time outs from that intense and exhausting minimalist interview which only goes to show that the “space” between words can actually say more than words themselves.

Sauma rejected my “word” installation because I’m not Finnish…yet.

  34. What’s with the media quality lately?

The video is choppy, the colour is bland, the dynamic range is small…

The sound is okay, better than the tiki episode, but worse than the studio. it’s understandable since your doing a field report, still, annoying.

When interviewing someone, try to do more interaction with each other, long monologues are dull and we stop listening after 5 seconds.

    Keep the spirits up.

  35. Took a few to realize JoCo was the mannequin. Thought Manda had reappeared out of the blue for a moment.

To regain Rocketboom audience so it will become profitable it seems that a little more seperation from the old is needed. Amanda is loved and Rocketboom should leave her alone and move on.
I think a change in the background is needed for JoCo. The click disappearing was FABULOUS since it was Amanda’s little trademark. JoCo needs a few quirks that are unique to her.
Unless she’s just an interim host i think it’s a great time to evolve the way rocketboom is delivered just a wee bit more.

RB 2.0 is shaping up wonderfully and I think I’m officially no longer watching to see if it’s going to still be the rockin’ show it’s always been and have fully accepted that Rocketboom is back!! 40. I like RB loads more than Tikibar, personally. And another thing I’m sure those behind RB are aware of….there are more of us watching now, some that didn’t see much of Amanda. I know I like what I see, and I have nothing really to compare it to. I don’t think I’m alone.

    Keep up the good work!

  41. I don’t think having Joanne play mannequin is really where you wanna go.

We know from the Casual Friday-Tikibar segment that she seems to have exqusite comic timing and great facial expressions. You should put her in one of those “sketch” bits at least once a week.

She seems to have a bit of Sally Phillips/Catherine Tate in her, which is all good.

Pieces like this “Jetsons Go IKEA” reduce her to a mere Katty Kay, just another BBC World talking head.

P.S. Mike R should quit playing Amanda Monitor and get a real job.

  47. Hey Rick, Very good point that people should take to heart. It took Amanda a long time to get her stride so to speak, and Joanne is hitting her’s quickly.

However, the unwarranted Joanne bashing and Amanda whining really seems to have died down, thank God.

I’m digging the variety. Really don’t care what Amanda is doing at her parents’ pad, but I do look foward to see what she does next.

As for the deletion of negative comments; some of the ones I’ve seen are unecessarily ‘hurtful’ towards one party or the other and hold no sense of logical argument. If moderation means limiting those irreverent trolls, then good riddance.
