  • kent says:

    amanda who?

    Way to go RB!

  • Random Dork says:

The hair-twirling Andrew-on-the-floor-shot made me laugh harder than anything I've ever seen on this show- for whatever that's worth.

    Seriously!

Even if you get flamed by Congdonites- which seems inevitable- that little moment of self-mocking comedy was truly inspired... Good luck!

  • HARTLESS says:

LERON, you can come back now. They got the show fixed! I can't explain the target on UK on the map yet. It must have sumthin' to do with the Canadien hostess.

  • Phil says:

I think you guys are going to do fine. Keep up the good work!

  • Devin says:

Wow, english, English, and spanish. World class, guys.

  • creen says:

Wow did you ever screw up a good thing!

  • Talasyn says:

Joanne Colan is da bomb! RB is much better off! Good job Rocketboom :)

  • regiaart says:

    Hi, I love it...
good luck to you with joanne colan. I also get inspired by the red paperclip guy. Look http://onechandelierart.blogspot.com/

  • BB says:

The jury's still out on RB beta 2.0.

  • I enjoyed it. Joanne seems very nice and she is actually quite funny. Good work RB!

  • Brian Solis says:

With style and grace. Nice job Joanne.

  • canoeman says:

another example of companies and business treating their human assets like disposable containers.
    i'm out of here.
hope yer out of busines in a week.
    later prick.

  • I was kinda hoping for some puppets. Version 2.0 should have puppets.

  • Yardrat says:

    Drew,
Why don't you give Joanne almost half of your share in RB? Then Amanda can run things. Seriously, both you and Amanda have a great future ahead in what ever you guys do.

  • Eric Rice says:

Anyone know what the word 'interim' means? Just askin'.

Good luck to everyone, been a rough time for all. You know the drill.

  • Jameson says:

Wow, 21 comments and only 2 (and a half) bad reviews.

Love the episode. Especially the hair twirling and the tomatoes.

Very good for the first episode of RB 2.0. I hope Joanee stays.

  • Welcome Joanne! Great first episode - I hope you'll soon let go of the shirt on top of the stretch top.

It's part of the selling process ;)

    Dr R.

  • I didn't get it before.

    I still don't get it.

I must not be hip anymore.

  • TtT says:

I must say I find the comments surprisingly just-positive. I sure hope there is no 'selective editing' going on here.

And can I just say that if Amanda keeps insisting she was fired from Rocketboom and you keep insisting she was not that I would like to hear your side of the story.

  • atomic elroy says:

    Hmmmm...
seems like you've made something that was unique, common.

have you ever thought of a career in broadcast TV?
    not an amanda fan BTW.

  • nebraskazac says:

NICE! NICE! NICE! You can never go wrong with a bit of self-depricating humor. Truly a LOL intro! & Who says no one listens to blogs...Amandas split has been front an center for the better part of a week. Good thing you were hustlin' to get this episode up and going, the sharks were smelling blood.....

  • Grant says:

Hey I have been watching rocket Boom since it first came out. I have always loved the show. and i would like to say that joanne colan did relly good for the first show on rocket boom she is going to be really good. i know we will somtime miss amanad but she moved fowars with her life. so keep up the work folks you never know where life might take you.

  • Tuesday says:

I enjoyed this...the accent sure doesn't hurt...looking forward to seeing how she handles a typical RB news reading. Well done JoCo and RB!

  • Eddie says:

Finally! A great new start. And hardly a tomato thrown so far!

The cigarette case was definitely a down trade from the jacket. You could have had a lava lamp or toaster by now. Congrats on the birthing of 2.0!

  • anon says:

I dug it. Good job guys. Loved the tomatoe (tow-may-tow, not tow-mah-tow) throwing and the crazy Andrew clip. I laughed out loud a few times. RB hasn't done that for me in a while.

  • 2.0 beta? Nothing really changed and nothing is beta.

Dump the 2.0 beta name it's just lame.

  • Martino says:

Bye Bye Amanda we'll miss you here, welcome Joanne! Well, after all it seams that things changes so... good luck guys!

    A reader (???) from Italy.

  • ChrisM70 says:

So is she the host or is she the INTERIM host?

Does that mean your looking for ANOTHER host?

Will that mean there will soon be a Rocketboom 3.0?

  • j10s says:

is it just me or does she have a mustache?

  • trev says:

It was OKay but I still miss Amanda. I think the holder was a trade down, not a trade up. Maybe just me. Best of luck to Rocketboom and Joanne.

  • Kat Caverly says:

Excellent! Glad to see you LIVE again at Rocketboom. Good luck Joanne and good luck to Amanda too!

  • wolfman says:

Wow, congrats to Andrew, Joanne, and the RB team for handling this difficult transition with grace, humility, humor, and a very clever take on the red paperclip story!

Joanne has beauty and smarts and especially poise, in front of the map and on the streets. Obviously, as a reporter she has far more chops than Amanda ever did. And I find her manner in front of the camera much more believable than the Amanda of late.

Is she really just the interim host? With more episodes like this, I think RB2.0 has the potential to far eclipse the original.

Joanne, prepare for the flood! There's room for two superstars in the vlog-o-sphere!

  • Glad rocketboom is still here. Sorry Amanda is gone.

    Jay

  • JusMe says:

That last little comment seemed like a bit of a dig at Amanda. Can't say I like it better yet, but time will tell. Definately better than nothing and, hey, I'm someone who didn't like John Stewart on the Daily Show at first. Takes some time to warm up.

  • Vinvin says:

Very good first shot!!! It was not easy.

    We watch you in France!

    ,-)

  • range says:

Well, the funniest thing was the shot of Andrew twiddling his hair. Hilarious.

    On JoCo...
Well, I'll reserve my judgement until I've seen a bit more from her. She didn't suck. She's hot. She's got those things going for her.

  • Nice job, Andrew. Despite the technical hiccups, I think you came up with a pretty nice start for Joanne -- complete with a bit of poking fun at the blogosphere. And I think Joanne did a great job -- calm, cool and funny, and some good street interview technique too. The British accent doesn't hurt either. Well done.

  • hauk says:

Yeah! Their back even better! Hurrah!

  • tagami says:

Well done, and welcome back. The self-deprecation was a great way to diffuse the last few weeks of tensions.

Clear of the launch pad, entering orbit..prepare to drop the first stage...

  • Ken says:

Wow... excellent work and so glad the blog is back. Joanne... please stay :-)

    Best wishes to Amanda!

Take a deep breath Andrew... :-)

  • Ken says:

Wow... excellent work and so glad the blog is back. Joanne... please stay :-)

    Best wishes to Amanda!

Take a deep breath Andrew... :-)

  • Devlon says:

    Nicely done.
    Loved the traumatized Andrew shot.

I wasn't a RB watcher before, but I will be back tomorrow.

  • Neal says:

I applaud Ms. Colan for taking the plung into the titanic shoes of Ms. Congdon. Regardless of any differences RB was phenomenal. The wit, intelligence and joy of life that Amanda brings to vlogging is still unparalled...I eagerly await her next endeavor.

  • SteveL says:

I always liked it when RB took it to the street. My friends at "Fine Living" Network say Joanne's the best. I think she did real well coming in to a tough situation. Best of luck to all concerned (you too Amanda).

  • packie says:

    Yea Joanne!

Nice job - like the less over the top - a little dryer sense of humor.

Liked Amanda - but the swearing was an unneeded detraction.

Hopefully that aspect of Rocketboom will be left in the past.

Good luck - hope you can look past "interim".

  • packiewacky says:

    boo hoo swear words! :(

Good job so far but people saying this is better than original, after being subjected to weeks of no new shows remind me of a person drinking their first water after escaping the desert and saying its the best ever.

  • JoCo can you not move your head so much? A head movement with every syllable is a little distracting. Every other syllable is plenty to provide that talking-head-news-anchor-overly-dramatized hyper-annunciation. Thx

  • A Fan says:

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised enough by today's episode to comment for the first time ever in the comments section. I've been worried since the news broke that I'd have to search for a new way to waste three minutes each day. :-) Thanks for a great show and keep it up!

  • Bev says:

Didn't know how I'd like it, but I did. There were lots of good things about Amanda, but please don't keep the hair tossing. That drove me nuts. I very much enjoyed Joanne's more subdued approach.

  • anonymous says:

Excellent start! I look forward to future episodes. Glad to see RB alive and well.

  • Cool. Joanne's a honey. Don't know about the "you'll always be welcome back Amanda" bullshit comment. That aint gonna happen but she's off to other things now. No matter. One thing though...while I'm making this comment I look across and you've still got "Rocketboom 2.0 daily with Amanda Congdon" on the page(june 22, 2006). Oops.
Now to mash your first show, Joanne and you can see it here - inyourfaceforbreakfast

  • notdrtiki says:

    I was expecting a sphincter-tightening train wreck of a restart...but hey! I'm pleasantly surprised...nice work...welcome Joanne!

  • drew olanoff says:

Nice work considering all that has been going on. I think Joanne shined during the "on the street" stuff. I'm sure she'll get more comfortable in front of the map.

  • Yeah, but can she dance???
    But, seriously folks...nice show.

  • Zedcaster says:

Yes! Yes! Yes! Make Joanne "permanent" instead of "interim" and I'm a subscriber for life!

PS: Joanne...get it all in writing.
PPS: Does nobody know how to spell Tomato?

  • qarl says:

wow... didn't think that was possible. rocketboom may yet survive.

  • The feed description is still "Daily with Amanda Congdon" (the dc:description element).

  • Ale says:

I never really watched RB before. I will start doing TODAY. Love the Brit!

  • jake1895 says:

Shes fantastic! Totally authentic. So glad Amanda is gone....

  • Fritz says:

She does a great job. Does she like Marmite?

  • TY says:

Great job Andrew. Joanne is a great host. She is very strong, and has a great TV presence.

  • Jim E. says:

Good job with first show. Looks like YAHOO! is jumping on the bandwagon with "The 9" that started on Monday. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

  • Zacharelli says:

She's all right, the pirate thing was dorky, but I do like the barter idea.

She should interview one of those groups of people who meet regularly to barter.

  • nicoz says:

    please.. this girl *sucks*
it's IMPOSSIBLE to get all this good reviews..

  • S Benton says:

Great job! This gal is more on the ball than Amanda. Not to take anything away from Amanda! She has a distinct thing, no doubt. But it's easy to see that your new host is just...smarter.

  • Noonan says:

Well done, if a little late. First impression is that you've made an upgrade. Joanne comes off more professionally and is easier to watch. Best of luck here on in.

  • Good synopsis here:
    briansolis.blogspot.com

  • ilse says:

Well done! This is your baby Andrew and wish you much luck. If ya need a hand...always here for ya!

    cheers

  • billy boy says:

To Jim E, I saw "the 9" on Yahoo!. Totally influenced by the Boom

  • Eric, you know what "interim" means... Steve Jobs was the "interim CEO" of Apple for three years. So I guess Rocketboom has some time before they make any long-term decisions.

  • Huhhuhhuh says:

    Colon? *beavis laugh*

  • Bastet says:

Amanda who? This gal is much nicer.

  • missbhavens says:

I think the show was just peachy, and I give props to JC--she made a potentially totally uncomfortable situation look easy.

Way to go! Y'all didn't take yourselves too seriously, you got back up on that horse and rode off. Good for you.

Also, a little self-decprecating humor goes a long way.

    Nice job, kids!

  • Dave Winer says:

    Awesome!

The bit with Andrew on the floor twirling his hair with a vacant stare was the best bit.

Joanne is smart, lovely, mysterious, irreverent, and self-deprecating as well.

The RB attitude is still alive, and nice use of all the standard bits.

    The corner has been turned.

Most important it's so great that you're having fun with it.

    Bravo!

  • zone says:

I kinda like it.. tho it's still a little weird without Amanda. Joanne, you did very good! I'm gonna give RB 2.0 a chance. best of luck!

  • Jon says:

A no-look catch at the end!

Well done Joanne and Andrew. Looking forward to more shows!

    JON.
    http://scourist.com : daily travel video

  • Interesting. Glad to see RB is back. Hope things with Amanda work out, and also for Joanne.

  • J.W. says:

I like Amanda better than Joanne. Way better.

Joanne sort of has this "I'm not a real human being, I'm a paid professional, watch me be all professional" thing going on. Well, Amanda was getting paid too (I just watched a zeFrank show where zeFrank disclosed that she emailed him 'I don't really have a crush you, the writer made me have a crush on you on the show') But Amanda bridged the gap and made everyone feel like they know who she is and also want to be her friend. That takes something special.

Now, its only the 1st show today so the jury is still out on our new intermim host, and who knows if she'll even be around long enough for me to form a more educated opinion on.

Ya still got an uphill battle ahead of you, RB et al. but if ya keep making content and AC leaves or only comes back to the vlogosphere every once in a while... Well, who knows?

And...well, the accent annoyed the daylights out of me and probably contributed to the feeling of distance between Joanne and her viewers. Does she sound that...fake...in real life I wonder?

Keep working at it RB et al.

Amanda, for the time being, where are you and can you please take us with you???

    buh bye

  • ct2000 says:

well done - good work can't wait for more!

good luck Joanne for the rest of the shows

  • JimG says:

Very nice. I can add the rocketboom link back to my bookmarks toolbar again. I thought RB was done.

The Queen is gone; long live the Queen!

  • Amy H. says:

Am I the only one who's sad that Amanda left? I was a HUGE fan of Rocketboom, but now I'm not anymore because Amanda left. Amanda was the face of Rocketboom; she's funny, had style, awesome, and really generous and nice (for those who are wondering, I'm Amy from the William Hung Cooking Show and we had some episodes put on here, thanks to Amanda). It looks like lots of people like you, Joanne, and that's great! I wish the best to Rocketboom 2.0.

  • Black Eagle says:

First of all, I want to say that today's show was great and Joanne's debut is fantastic. I don't think is fair to make comparison with Amanda's era. Two diferents styles.

Bienvenida a RocketBoom Joanne . Keep up the great job (here I include Andrew too)

  • Todd says:

Will Joanne be able to cry out with passion -- "IMPEACH BUSH" ?? :-)

  • TLB says:

WE LOVE YOU JOANNE COLAN !!!!!!

  • C.K. says:

Congrats on the 2.0 relaunch! Looks good.

  • Jordan says:

Hey, that was actually pretty entertaining, I must say.

    http://www.akagegaijin.com

  • A. Viewer says:

Jury's out on the new version, I'd say, although I am still interested in the outcome of the experiement called RB. But I have to agree that "amanda you will always be welcome back" rings false, given what little we know about the creative conflicts that led to her departure, and the knock-on legal problems. I hope that RB can be real enough now and in the future to recognize when and where it has succeeded and/or failed in its goals. That would be the best thing, I think.

The Malcolm McLaren episode of This Spartan Life is relevant here, I think:
    http://thisspartanlife.com/1003_mod5.html

  • bigzero says:

Too bad. All good things must come to an end. Sure is fishy to see such a long string of enthusiastic comments!?!

  • Rochelle says:

Good job Joanne and Andrew! To the critics... Amanda is not coming back. So we have to just move on as things change, okay? Okay. Yes, Amanda has left some huge shoes to fill and we all are sad, but you can't be totally brutal-- it's only her first day. I know I'm coming back, good choice Andrew and best of luck to RB.

  • Jim says:

    I miss Amanda...

However, I thought Joanne did a very good job. At the same time, it was a little too much like Joanne channelling Amanda. I would love to see her break out and be different.

    I will keep watching though.

  • /pd says:

JoAnnes Cute - different , more better :)-

I like here. she's gets my vote..

...but what the heck was the lanuguage she was trying to speak with that other guest --spanish ??

  • LJS says:

Like others, I will miss Amanda, but Joanne you are awesome! Great job.

  • Well anyway you see it as long as the RB franchise keeps chugging along Amanda will be pocketing 49% of the profits while "Drew" et. al do all the work. Sweet deal Amanda. Didn't take you for such a sharp lassie.

  • Juan Falla says:

Glad to see RB back on track. Nice episode considering all that has been going on. I liked the black humour at the beginning... specially the Andrew shot.

Sorry Amanda isn't there anymore.... I'll be watchign her steps closelly as I am too a fan of her, as of RB.

Nice job Andrew!!! And to the rest of the RB team!!!!

  • DENHam says:

Great Job. Joanne is very fluid and funny.
Best of luck with the reincarnation of RB.

  • Jason says:

I never really watched Rocketboom before this whole fiasco occurred, so I don't have much to compare this new episode to, but I must say, Joanne did a really good job. Amanda who?

  • hmmmmm - the bush/tom delay (spelling?) jokes wont make much sense now.

Good heavens its Suzie from englands BB7

  • Amanda who?

Smart, funny, really funny, and smart. 2.0 kills 1.0.

    Nice job.

  • new fan says:

I hardly ever watched Rocketboom because Amanda used to irritate me but this Joanne I can take. I like the new direction and, though you may lose some old fans, you are sure to gain new ones.

  • Susan says:

I read about 50 comments, and that was enough for me. ;) "Joandrew," instead of "Amandrew." I love it. She is hot, and definitely has quite the stature. I'd have her do some practice work with that unidirectional mic, though; seems she hasn't used one much. Couldn't hear some things she said on the street.

  • VB says:

Carry on, lads. The Miss is making it dandy!

  • brite says:

RB inspired me to make my own videoblog, so it's sad to see Amanda leave, however Joanne is very cute! I love her accent!

  • maverick says:

Great show, once I got passed the weirdness of not seeing Amanda. It's the same, yet it is different. Too weird! It feels like I just learned I was adopted or something. You might have lost your mind Andrew, but look at all the publicity you received. Tell me was it worth trading your integrity for more popularity? Think about it.

  • Krmit says:

Great job all. I think I like Joanne better, but I will have to see more of her to be sure. Amanda will be missed but I think this shows that RB is more than just a one person show!

    Keep it up!

  • John Mahoney says:

    Good on you, Joanne

    Stay with it

    Best,

    John Mahoney
    Log Cabin Chronicles

  • Katie smith says:

Awsome show, its a shame amandas gone, but oh well, they say the newer the better. Love the show RB staff keep the good work up!

  • burning20 says:

BRAVISIMA! I love it. Keep the fire it burning, Joanne - you are brill...

  • LiamH says:

Hmmm, as a Brit I'd prefer a Yank presenter. AC was always going someplace else.

Oh yeah: STOP THE AMANDA LOVE IN STUFF (you will always be welcome back etc) get on with it OR YOUR BUSINESS WILL DIE. It really is simple on TwIT I got the impression that Mr RB could take over the world - I hope he meant with CONTENT AS OPPOSED TO CONGDEN (is that how you spell it I forgot already)!!!!!!

  • I think the new host and the first show are fine. Certainly entertaining enough for me to remain subscribed.

My only question is, with such a public and ugly separation from Amanda, why just stuff Joanne into Amanda's desk and shtick? Why not alter the format a bit, and make it something new and different? It almost looks like you're trying to deliver the new show in a way that people won't notice that the host has changed... which is insulting to Amanda, Joanne and me (the loyal viewer).

  • Wow! I will definitely miss Amanda, but I think Joanne is going to be amazing. I know that Amanda will do well where ever she is, because she has great talent. Anyway Drew keep dreaming big, like I heard you on the Vloggercom episode of Twit, and things will keep going well.

  • whatever says:

    sexy accent. im digging

  • One of the things rocketboom haters complained about was Amanda's accent - even my ex-housemate hated it. I have to say...this is the sort of british accent I hate...It is a posh southern accent...

Or as We up here in newcastle usually say "Southern Pancy." It is not going to stop me watching...since she is only a temp...It will just grate on me a bit.

  • J-Pizzy says:

Well after a couple of delays the new episode got released. WooHoo... (With the delays, it was almost starting to feel like a Microsoft release.)

Not much seemed new though, other than the host. Same desk, map, introduction etc. Hey that's kinda like a Microsoft release too.

Rocketboom is/was a niche thing. Quirky news with a quirky host. We'll have to see if joanne measures up in the "quirky department".

...I replaced someone at my current job, does that make me J~Pizzy 2.0?

  • dem says:

looks like andrew got all of his friends to rig the comments section. nice.

nothing against the new host but i prefer amanda's delivery.

  • dH says:

I don't know what should I write now so I just drop words to get some tasteless promotion of my own blog. Also, the vlog is cool.

  • Whiplash! says:

Honestly, that Congdon chick was annoying as all hell. And I have a thing for accents anyway. ;-)

  • Brad says:

    pony up for a hairstylist...

  • anon says:

I always found Amanda very attractive but a terrible actress... though she seems to have a nice personality.
I liked Joanne very much in this episode... perhaps more so than any Amanda clip.

Perhaps the girl is sulking somewhere now... yes, they can do the show without you, it seems.

  • SteveL says:

There's only one way to decide who the host should be...I'll bring the mud (or jello if you want to get fancy).

  • mharp says:

Hmm. I can't believe how many comments are up already. Wow, folks were really waiting for this episode. Joanne did an interesting job with this "transition." I still wish for the sake of those involved that things could have gone more differently. Or maybe... its all a big conspiracy to drive up ratings!

  • joe b says:

VERY impressed. I figured that you had a great mix before and that would be almost impossible to match. You are either lucky or worked very hard at it, but I really did like (A whole lot) today's podcast!! [I still don't see how you can pay for this stuff and make money, but you must have something cooking.] Let's see if you can make tomorrow as captivating as the podcast for today..??

  • brem says:

What's the point in criticizing an interim host?

We'll see if it gets back to it's old coolness.

    Just not there now.

  • Rocks! says:

    Great job, great host!

  • rbdead says:

yeah, so I wonder how many of these positive post are from your friends or people you paid off. rocket boom is dead.

  • Mütze says:

You really should not be acting as if Amanda just left because she wanted to. SHE tells two sides of a story, but whoever is in charge of rocketboom.com seems more and more insincere by the minute. I am not saying that she is necessarily saying the truth and that you are lying, and yes, maybe I do have an emotional attachment to Amanda, as it is her I have been watching daily and not her partner.

But! Not evening publicly ackgnowledging her accusations and continually (also through the "interim host") smothering her with comments full of politeness and without content - that is just not sincere.

I recommend everybody do what this episode of Rocketboom suggests: Take a look at http://amandaunboomed.blogspot.com/ and think twice if you believe Amanda has left Rocketboom because she wanted to.

This certainly was the last episode of Rocketboom I have ever watched.

  • Zipnoff says:

I say Joanne is a keeper. I can't believe you found 2 gorgeous women who don't take themselves too seriously. Can't wait to tune in to the next installment.

  • Carson says:

Actually - wow, nice work. I loved it. Perfect execution of an insanely touchy situation.

  • Well, I must say RB2 is an interesting change and we'll see what happens. However, I liked Amanda much better. The brit is a bit... over the top.

    Andrew I don't like liars...

    Play life straight!

  • hank says:

If I didn't know about the drama, I wouldn't have really cared that much about the hosting change. Still a good show, plus we get another one from Amanda too....it'll be like 2 shows for one.

  • BobM says:

I see why there are so many positive comments. Nice job for first episode, congrats and good luck.

  • Curt says:

Welcome Joanne! Best of luck to you in the anchor seat.

Last night, I posted a suggestion that Andrew have a Rocketboom Idol contest...
    http://snipurl.com/rocketboomidol

I think such a contest should still be conducted to identify either a co-anchor to join Joanne, or other supporting cast for the show.

  • Tracy says:

You should have had a shower scene and had the new host come out of the shower and say that the first version of rocketboom was just a dream, wait, too Dallas-y I think.

I like the way you Darrin-ed it, the audience will hardly notice that there was an earlier Darrin.

  • Robert says:

Way to trade up guys. I loved Amanda, but am much impressed with Joanne. I actually find her style a little better. I love a good upgrade.

  • in case you missed us...we welcome joanne...

    http://www.rabbitbites.com/archive/rocketboom.html

  • meettravis says:

    Great Andrew! Rocketboom lives.
You have a great brand. Joanne you are beautiful, and global. Good Luck and i will be watching.

  • Luis says:

Boooooo....Amanda has bigger rockets...(0)Y(0)...Brit accent, who cares....

  • Appleswitch says:

I wasen't going to say anything but all these positive comments are freaking me out, I think its being monitored.

testing... testing... the show will die with Amanda, that curled in the corner shit was such BS, you fired Amanda, joanne colan drowns kittens!

  • Rainmyn says:

To be honest, Amanda alwas struck me as a tad bit smug. I like Joann's edgy, flop sweat confidence much better. Keep up the good work; I don't think you have to search any longer for a new host--this one is perfect.

  • Greg Wishart says:

    I think you're ok! I don't care what anyone says... :-)

  • Vic says:

Bloody awful I dare say! How Ironic that joanne looks like Amanda.

  • Lurker says:

    Beguiling smile...check!

Can handle herself with punks, pirates, and Spanish women...check!

    Quiet confidence...sense of humor...double check!!

And thank God we're done with that INCESSANT WHACKING ON THE KEYBOARD!

    Nice job people!

  • SteveL says:

I didn't know they still named people MEL.

  • SteveL says:

I didn't know they still named people MEL.

  • PAT in MTL says:

Not so sure. The comments on www.digg.com seem more honest.

The voice joanne doesn't have Amanda's energy.

Sorry, I give it a week or two and I'm deleting the rss feed.

  • Porcupiness says:

Really guys. If you have nothing of substance to say about the change why say it all? at least if you are going to trash talk let it be constructive trash talk. If thats possible. Theres too much hostility in the world as is. Love a little. Group HUG!!! :)

  • All of the drama aside, this episode lacked... quite a bit.

Although the tomatoes & Drew cameo provided some small amount of humor, RB 2.0 is nothing short of a huge disappointment.

RB has always been the place to go for NEW, interesting, and often geeky news. RB 2.0, however, seems to be the home of the tired, dull, and unoriginal. The red paper-clip story would have been interesting when the whole world first learned about the guy months ago. Now, after he's accomplished his goal and is all over the associated press… it’s just plain boring.

And, of course, let’s not forget the hostesses(eseses). Amanda, a refreshingly unpolished anchor (and I truly mean that as a compliment), had a wit, demeanor, and kindness about her. Joanne, on the other hand, seems to be better suited as a field reporter. She’s painful to watch in front of the map (although it was just her first show) but takes to the streets with ease.

    I’m going with 0.5 stars.

And, Drew, if even half of what’s on amandaunboomed is true… you’ve really thrown away something great.

  • Kraki says:

I know you've got to move on, but I'm going to miss seeing Amanda on here every day

  • ok. amanda was pretty. thats pretty much it. joanne colan is much better at this. Much more interesting to look at and listen to and that accent makes my ears stiffen. Don't replace Joanne.

  • Rob Beckett says:

Not bad, not bad. Hoping to see more. Making no hard opinions till we have some more episodes to watch. :)

  • butterfly says:

Amanda war juggs so viel besser! Ich mag die neue Prostituierte nicht. Viel Glück. Gut tschüs.

  • jamieyoung says:

The accent wins for now. But I did tune in every day for Amanda, so I'll just have to wait to understand if hearing sexy is better than seeing sexy.

  • butterfly says:

    That was LAME!!!

  • Monika says:

Excellent job. Best of luck moving forward to the Rocketboom team and Amanda. Joanne is lovely.

  • Jonathan says:

By far the best RB episode I've seen. New host is polished... a professional.

  • IronHelixx says:

Great Job - Keep up the good work. Just get pass all the negative energy from the remarkably moody netmonkeys out there and you guys will do just fine. Joanne did a great job and with time she'll make the show her own.

  • jan says:

I really like the new host. She is sexy, smart and self-ironic.
    Best wishes from germany!

  • We'll never know what really happened, and everyone will be sore about the original RB being gone (even if Amanda were to reappear at RB), but change is inevitable.

It's just too bad it couldn't have been a smooth transition. You all could have made the best of the change; instead there will be a wound here at Rocketboom for a while. I blame the mediator.

Amanda's the one who'll probably come out on top, but that's just my prediction.

Good job today no matter what; welcome Joanne!

  • Joanne has subtle, but not cheesy, sex appeal and an incredible ability to transition smoothly in and out of bits with, dare I say, more fluency than her predecessor. This definitely helps to tone down what was at times a forced or contrived feel that bordered on public access television (Wayne's World, anyone? :) ). Perhaps it's the British accent and 'tude? Keep up the good work!

I'd also say, like this is some big secret, that based on the comments section, your demographic is largely male...guess that dictates ones choice for host, eh? :)

  • Vlad says:

Nice work. I look forward to future episodes.

  • tycobrahe says:

Good. And 221 comments to boot so far. At this rate you'll top Gay Day easily.

  • Touch of class... great way to get on with RB 2.0 and Joanne has a great style that I'm sure could develop fast into a different, but equally absorbing daily soap. Tough act, well acted.

  • John Piercy says:

definelty not AC , but she is cute and sounds sexy ,,

    Hope they bring back Amanda

    JP

  • Lastof says:

As many others have said, it's a good start. I don't think you could have had a more positive new begining. I would prefer amanda back, and that this who thing never happened, but, whatever did happen, I hope everyone involved makes the best out of it.

I also have to agree with the other brits that the accent, which I would describe as BBC primetime circa 1985, is painful. It seems drama school trained, over emphasised, and something that only seems real if you've never been to Britain. I know it's probabaly something that's so ingrained now that it's hard not to use when infront of a camera, but, from the little I could find on google (the blogosphere makes it very hard to google someone after they've taken an intrest in them), she was born in Lancashire. And I am certain that BBC english isn't spoken there (or anywhere in Britain for that matter).

It'd be lovely to hear her real accent. Please?

  • aldo says:

was crap! amanda is so much better. one of amanda's eyes has more personality.

  • mariano says:

    excellent job :)
    Even with that spanish :P

  • Ben says:

    Wow!

You had to get someone who looks alot like Amanda! Too bad for that accent or you might have fooled some people.

I can't wait to see how Amanda trumos your ass, Andrew!

  • Jim says:

A Brit presenting the show has me sold. Amanda's moved on and I think you guys just got yourselves a great presenter in Joanne.

  • Brian H. says:

Great job by the nice young Brit. Kind of like relpacing Lou Gehrig in the Yankee line up. With that lovely British accent I'm a fan!

  • jan says:

Congratulations one and all. You did it. Hang in there, Drew; and welcome aboard, Joanne.

  • juster says:

i love joanne!! forget abote "interim" - make her permanent. I haven't been watching RB for a long time because Amanda kept doing that thing with her head, like EVERY time. I couldn't take it anymore. I have now resubscribed to RB on my iTunes.

  • Rockets firing, and lift off on the 2nd mission ...no fuel tanks dropping off or foam tearing holes in production. Great work and great new presenter. It feels like it will have a new sophistication.

  • jessica says:

It seems you just plugged in a British version of Amanda. It was ok, but I expected more.

Also, some of your viewers are female. Not everyone's opinion of a host is directly correlated with how hot she is. :P

  • Topher says:

    Andrew,

    Stay involved stay interested.

  • Worked just fine for me!
Looking forward to the summer of Rocketboom 2.0!
    Best of luck...

  • rayo says:

    Nice first show!!!!
    AC still better
But even Amanda wasn't good in her early episodes

Joaane , make it unique and RB 2.0 will be yours

    Stilling missing Amanda

  • Thegirl says:

Goodbye Andrew. Glad to know you see women as "just plug one blonde in for another". No offense Joanne but when he tells you that you have a percentage, don't believe him.

  • bluebunny says:

What's the deal with the new trashy... computer. What happened to the TI99/4a? A Trash-80? Give me a break!

  • Our views on the departure can be read in the FFF blog, it's absolutely spiffing!

  • Paint says:

Nice. Very nice in fact. Pleasantly surprised. I wish Drew and Amanda well in their separate future endeavors.

  • Len says:

Huh...not bad. I'll be watching to see how Joanne does. :)

  • jbowers says:

I must admit that I was tuning in to see how miserably Andrew would fail without Amanda.

I was not only surprised, but delighted - I loved it! The only thing that could make the "new" RB better is to make sure that the Joanne's "interim" status is changed to "permanent" ASAP.

I think it's safe to say that she's won over the majority of RB viewers, myself included!

  • I miss Amanda, and I'm sure I'll follow whatever she does next, but I'll stick to RB. I like the new host a lot too...

  • Brian Fraley says:

Time for Joanne Colan to go.

  • This is terrible. Nothing funny or interesting about the segment at all. Her voice is a bit deep/low and annoying. Her looks are very average, maybe even below.

  • mac56 says:

Well done Joanne, good show first day, let's hope there many episodes to come with your own style :)

  • MarianoPR says:

very nice. I think could talk more on spanish.

    Saludos desde Argentina!

  • Boom_Request says:

I wish Amanda the best and Joanne the best.

But Andrew, you are full of boloney. It's dishonest of you to try playing the victim role.

Strewth mate! Her accent is thicker than a Pint of Pommy Piss!

  • Eric Poster says:

Ey, that was rather jolly good, ey! That british accent of yours is cute, Joanne! Fantastic start with all the self-mockery, not-so-good ending with the self-congratulary. All in all, lots of potential - I like it! :-)

  • acb says:

i like joanne colan better than a.c.

joanne is more sincere and appears to have multiple facets to her personality.

RB will probably improve now, which I'm eager to see, because i'd stopped watching a couple months ago.

  • Ed Minchau says:

Sorry. You tried, but it isn't Rocketboom without Amanda. Not that any of you care, but I won't be back.

  • bubba says:

Wow. Joanne rocks. Now I don't have to tune in just to see what T-shirt is being worn by the host but I'll actually listen and be entertained.

And let's be honest here, folks-- Amanda was so much better in the beginning before her head swelled up and she went Hollywood.

Well done, Drew. Rocketboom 2.0 is a definite upgrade with no bugs.

  • Bravo to everyone past and present in the spirit of innovation and most importantly good fun!!

  • d henry says:

Good Lord, One Episode and everyone is burying Amanda and saying how they think Joanne is "great" and "better than Amanda". Give me a break. Amanda was wonderful, is wonderful. She has been the delightful, spontaneous face of Rocketboom for so long and I miss her. Let's take some time and see how RB progresses without her. Okay?

  • Shannon says:

I am glad that bitch amanda is gone. Maybe this new lady won't be as liberal as amanda was. I know who should take over rocketboom. Ann Coulter.

  • Gerry says:

I expected a compromise and was treated to a fantastic episode. I adored Amanda and am surprised that the show could be so awesome without her. I wish Amanda well and continue to be an avid Rocketboom fan!

  • iDrifter says:

Goodby Amanda, you'll be missed, at least by me.
Hello Joanne, keep the good effort! You have big shoes to fill. Good luck.

  • Andy Doan says:

I'm amazed that you guys were able to maintain the high levels of positive energy considering what you've been through this week.

It's too bad the haters don't have blogs and vidcasts... check that ... I mean popular blogs or vidcasts so that you could flame them back a little.

    Keep up the good work!

  • daScribe says:

    Life goes on.....

Way to go! I LMFAO at the opening sequence. The tomatos & mask were perfect.

Congrats to joanne on the new gig!

I look forward to the continued success of RB w/ joanne.

  • Great job today everyone. Just wanted to chime in with positive vibes amongst all the craziness.

Loved it and laughed a lot. Nice work.

  • Jon says:

This woman is a diamond in the semi-rough. Polish her up a bit and she just may leave you too. But not for awhile, I hope.

  • zimminz says:

Good move! Joanne comes across as a class act. The show must go on ...

  • kentkb says:

    Sweet!
    The brit is ok, cute.
Was Joanne really found on Craig's List?

  • sheepdog6 says:

Excellent recovery: totally unexpected, takes the high road, and is an engaging first episode for Joanne (and Drew). Keep at it like this, and I'm positive you will always have an audience.

  • Les says:

    Drew,
Nice work. You are now on 2.0. You got through it. Now relax and just produce the show.

    Joanne,
Welcome. Great Start. Focus on the positive comments.

    Amanda,
(If you are reading), best in whatever you do.

  • Linh says:

eh, she's an alright host, but I loved AC's personality. Probably the main reason I watched the show. Best of luck, I am curious to see how this turns out.

  • Casey says:

    nice. pleasantly surprised.

had gotten tired of amanda anyway and was only watching once a week.

    can't wait till tomorrow :)

  • fuzzy says:

Thats it!This is rocketboom. This is more like crashandboom.

  • Maybe I'm the only one, but correspondents week was the best I've seen of Rocketboom.

Do we still need the talking heads?

  • porkchop says:

Joanne and Andrew did a terrible, terrible job, but I love it ;) hahahahaha! I enjoyed the show. Thank you. Great job!

  • Gary says:

Excellent, wonderful, exciting, sexy, funny - ok, enough about me... y'all were dog-gone good too!

  • Elle says:

A little espanol thrown in there, very nice....

  • Lion says:

    Joanne was better than Amanda

  • dedums says:

Good show! Welcome, Joanne. I'm bemused by people having such a reaction to an accent. People DO have accents, like having hair, eyes, etc. What a thing to kevetch about. sigh. I look forward to watching RB for a three minute bit o' fun, interesting information, entertaiment and global education, at times. I like Amanda, but I'm fine with Joanne, too. Can't say I'm that emotionally involved, otherwise. You know, not like when Firefly was cancelled...

  • Greg Furry says:

    I made Rocketboom - Yeah!

    http://dazilgroup.com/blog/?p=706

  • flower child says:

    Good job, y'all.

And glad you took the high road. No point in playing the 'she said this' and then 'he said that' game.

I be proud. Y'all should be too.

  • Amber Mac says:

Awesome job Team RB! It was a wonderful first show/2.0 style, and it's nice to see you base this ep on such an innovative Canadian - the paper clip trader-upper!

Now we just have to get you both (Andrew and Joanne) up to Canada to interview Kyle in person ;-).

All the best. And congrats again!

    -Amber Mac

  • bob rooney says:

She is great but the last thing i need is another brit, aussie, nz correspondent. This is the same reason I am done with HGTV. Mate.

  • flower child says:

I liked the 'trade up' story. Makes me think that um . . . I've gathered way too many material goods since my 'fit all my worldly possessions in my VW Bug' days. Anyone got a paper clip?

    Peace and love, y'all.

  • Zack says:

It is in Amanda's interest for Rocketboom to prosper. She has nearly a half interest in the company. My prediction is that Amanda and RB will both come out of this just fine.

I'm amazed by Joanne Colan. She is remarkably poised, considering the circumstances. The entire return episode is remarkable for how successfully it projects a gracious tone.

RB is still quite a new enterprise. There could come a day when people only vaguely remember that it had another host before Joanne.

Just before Amanda's departure, I submitted a post here saying that a capering blonde is an essential element of the RB brand, and that RB needed a spare blonde. That post was deleted, and now I know why.

I still think RB needs a spare blonde.

  • Lozt says:

Rick you call yourself an idiot but I think you are actually just saying what alot of the complainers want to say. Plenty of people are holding back their comments when they say they will miss Amanda. Now I am not saying all them will miss her tight shirts but I am betting plenty of them really miss her because of that.
I will honestly say I have not been a hard core RB follower but I was very interested to see how this whole episode turned out with all the issues around it. I was happy to see a nice episode with a very nice host. I am not ready to really say if she is better or worse but I can say the show still held its feel which was nice.

  • Rodrigo says:

Woah ... Joanne, you are a really nice person! ... cool program, yeah :)

  • Bastet says:

Cool! Rocketboom 2.0 beta hits the Web at full speed. Fine work on the grand re-opening show. Great pacing, fun characters, well done. Hey, put this on the main page.

  • dude28 says:

    Welcome Joanne!

That's a very good episode! You're pretty cool and natural in handling the show. I'll see you again tomorrow.

  • WOW! --- excellent show! Amanda was wonderful and will be missed....Joanne Colan is absolutely terrific!! Joanne, you should have made a tomato sandwich at the end!

  • javiersc says:

  • Amanda was on MSNBC tonight talking about Rocketboom.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13832899/

  • Great first episode... I think it's already showing a lot of promise. Joanne's great and as many other have pointed out, Andrew sitting on the floor in shock was a great touch. Good job!

I hated it...I guess I have better things in life to do than watch RB2.0

  • Jim Boggia says:

Yes! Really well done. I think you guys handled the tone of the changeover very well - the tomatoes had me genuinely laughing, which I hadn't gotten out of RB in a while. All the best to Amanda, but I sometimes found her style to be a bit too cutesy and self-satisfied.

I have one complaint: the word "interim".

    Joanne, way to go.

  • Another case of "offshoring" jobs.

I seem to remember ATMs attempting to sound more sophisticated with British accents too...

I miss amanda, but will watch to see what happens. Too early to tell.

If you change the girl, change the background!

  • DylanJay says:

I wouldn't call her a 'great' rocketboom candidate, but you can only get better! Looking forward to the next entries!

  • Will Cate says:

I must admit I was skeptical, but you pulled it off with great finesse. I like Joanne.

    Rock on, guys...

  • Noam Samuel says:

Overall, very nice. Only one question: Mobuzztv, operating from the UK, has had a host with an American accent for quite a while, and now Rocketboom (2.0), probably the leading vlog in the US, has a host with a british accent, does this mean that the world is flat? (2 AM, don't search for meaning)

  • alpenluft says:

Look Andrew I'm sure that Joanne Colan is a very nice person and could be an overnight success but who was the woman that you chose that helped launch you into stardom. I have been replaced at the drop of a hat and I am a nobody but nonetheless it's not much fun. Buck up and suck it in as your no Donald Trump and you should be proud of that. I was getting kind of sick of Amanda flipping here head every 3 seconds and thinking it was funny anyway. It was funy the first time she did it. It was lame the 500th plus time.

If this new host can please not do that flip/turn joke EVER I will enoy the show more.

Ok... like she wasn't so bad, it could have been worse.
But I hate the fact that Rocketboom (Andrew?) sorta lied about Amanda "left", while she in fact claims she was kicked out.

    that was actually good.

    great work despite everything!

  • I have never watched rocketboom...that is until the blogoshpere blew up about Amanda's departure.

Great job, Joanne. I loved it!

  • Mags says:

Nice work! Joanne's a little stiff in the role, but she's got a likeable personality and will easily grow into the part soon. I miss Amanda and will keep up with whatever she does next, but nice job, Andrew & company!

  • Todd Detroit says:

Nice! Liked the tomato idea and the catcher's outfit...and drew looking insane.

JoAnne is VERY well spoken and I have to say...a good replacement for Amanda.

Love her, but she is probably destined for different things!

  • Cuoredifango says:

    nice start, good luck andrew

  • Weenie says:

Hrm...I have to reserve my judgement for a few more shows. Amanda had a certain "sophisticated realness" to her that I feel lacking from this new interim host.

  • Summary: Still mediocre content and production that looks like some kids in the basement puked out. And get rid of the bloody map. Put that 40K to use. New host ok but not hot. Old host great pair (and really people that's what the real attraction was to this thing). I won't miss the small head + log neck = ostrich however. Oh ya, Drew 2005 called and they want their Paperclip story back. Come on, for your first episode back and you recycle that old story - where is the creativity? Oh ya I guess that was the hair twisting thing (lame attempt at humor). Kudos on the tomatoe bit but more should have landed on her noggin (I only counted one). I never understood the hub bub about RB before and I still don't. Call me uncool I guess. Peace.

  • cara says:

Wow. That was good! I sort of stopped watching rocketboom 1.0 because I thought it was getting boring. I will definitely be checking in more from now on. Joanne - way to switch into Spanish to clinch the trade!

I'll be honest I miss Amanda but Joanne is going to be a great replacement, and british too..

    Long live queen Joanne!

  • Dexter says:

Thanks for saving me-I was in the advanced stages of Rocket withdrawal-whew-that was close-and the concept of trading up-thats too subliminal. Joanne-you are way cooler than what's her name.- BOOM ON ANDREW!! -Dexter

  • supagroova says:

Wow, Joannes rocks! Dare I say it, but I like her better! ouch...

    (lurve the brit accent too)

  • Nice to see you back on. I felt bored in front of my computer with ought you!

  • Chris in CA says:

My god I love hot British women. Joanne...will you suck on my toes???

  • Lame...and weak...

I think the bigger test here was whether or not Andrew could actually write and produce an original, hip, edgy show. The answer is a resounding NO!!! RB is where we are supposed to go to find out cool new techno geeky stuff that we didn't already know..not to re-hash yesterday's Yahoo news.

The question of which host is better is really moot. The bigger issue is who can turn out a better show...the answer is AMANDA!

  • AGK says:

Good job Joanne, although Amanda will definitely be missed...but hey, what can we do? it's surely better than having RB completely gone ;).

  • Found unboomed and RB on Alexas movers and shakers. Seen a few clips since then. :)

    Keep'em coming.

  • dfghdgfh says:

she's not as hot as amanda, that's the only reason i watched i think

  • Bryan says:

    She will grow on us.

But still We will wish Amanda with Unboomed which should be and interesting show.... What ever it will be.....

  • Janet says:

Joanne comes off much more natural that amanda ever did. I enjoyed this episode, which I can't say for any of the other Rocketboom episodes. This was a definite trade-up. I'll be watching!

  • KDSN says:

Honestly when the news came out about Amanda I was angry and sad. I love Amanda as much as the next person. I really was skeptical about RB2.0. I told myself I wasn't going to watch it. Well I caved today and watched the new episodes. Good job, I will miss Amanda and Joanne will never replace her. So while Joanne will never be Amanda she will be RB. I now know I was wrong in doubting.

  • zenrob says:

    That was excellent. Happy trading!

  • jriz says:

my limited but admittedly opinionated opinion is that both andrew and amanda's true colors came through when each decided that their own individual needs were more important than either maintaining the existing rocketboom trajectory, or satisfying the then-current fan base's preferences. andrew and amanda are lucky to have their fair share of loyal supporters, because through all of it, everyone seems to be missing the fact that neither one of them are the victims here of being lied to -- it's the viewers of the feed.

just guessing here, but something tells me that the old amanda we knew and loved is gone -- just look at the reasons why people fell in love with her -- she was genuine, unpolished, hot as anyone on tv, but without the contrived nature, and she had just the right blend of sweet childishness and annoying childishness to make her irresistible. she knew her place and it showed in the way she became the face of rb.

andrew clearly was someone we could trust to provide us with great stories that even many silicon valley geeks learned to rely on for the day's quirky humorous news blips from the farthest edge of all the most interesting industries and subcultures.

well, my take is that despite all the love we sent her way, amanda wasn't satisfied with just being the face of rb, and started to feel the need for power. uh...who is the one person we can always count on to make fun of a power-hungry american monarch? well, for a while, it was amanda. the fact that she was just a regular chick without a lot of power or greed gave her all the credibility she needed to rightfully bitch about bush -- unlike the press, she didn't really seem to have any other agenda, making her bitching more likable than other bitching.

simultaneously, it appeared that andrew suddenly felt threatened by amanda's rise to fame -- while making the show more attractive than ever, it was also bringing closer the possibility that he might lose influence over creative and production rights -- after all, what the audience wants they will eventually get (or leave), being a savvy producer and businessman, he saw this, and possibly felt that he saw the writing on the wall -- he would have to share creative and production credit sooner or later, beyond what he was willing. and who was in better touch with the audience than amanda. it sucks to become dependent on something you've had tight control over in the past.

so who suffered? all of us. because andrew and amanda wouldn't just come out and express their horrid fears to each other, communicate their personal and business needs to each other, figure out a strategy that would actually work, even if it meant being honest with us about why (we would have totally understood, and a long delay would have been perfectly acceptable if that's what it took), and just come clean in that "transparent" way that rb supposedly has always offered.

so now i believe that even if amanda were to return, she would only be the shell of the amanda that we fell in love with the first time; and we've seen first-hand now what's happened to andrew. people above are already stating how insincere andrew's efforts to smooth things over seems to them, which is starting to taint the spirit of what we have known so far as being rb.

so yes, the old rb days are over. partly because of where vlogging is, partly because of two people's inabilities to get in touch with what the hell was really going on and deal with it to satisfy their viewers, and probably other stuff behind the scenes we don't know about, and of course competition.

rb is no longer an innovation -- it's entering the competitive world of real big $$$ business. in that vein, i understand andrew's need to move on, and it appears that jc is well-suited to get through the next stage for rb if she and andrew and any other new hosts that come up as necessary can continue executing with the right creative touch for new viewers as they come on board, despite any viewer losses they incur. and i understand amanda wanting to be more involved and not feel pigeonholed or inappropriately credited for all the hard work she's put in.

but on behalf of a single viewer, me (i speak for nobody else here, their comments are clear enough above), i say to andrew, if you want something to grow, you gotta learn to trust and tune into properly crediting the things that have been providing you your success, even if it means evolving -- you can transition without having to take such a massive risk and disrupt your viewers' experience so dramatically. i doubt anyone would have questioned your authority if you'd played your cards that way. all you had to do was get amanda on your side.

and to amanda, if you want to become a part of something big and preserve your place in it, it's actually sometimes not such a bad option to be a highly specialized role. your options to do other stuff will always be there provided you're gracious enough to remember your place and make your requests heard with reasonable arguments and professionally clear intent. we didn't fall in love with you because you're such a great producer, or because we thought you were the one coming up with content -- as a viewer, i personally fell in love with you, the person, for sharing your energy with us and letting us peek into your crazy brain and emotional makeup (ok fine, and your fine-ass jubblies). if you could see that more clearly, maybe you would have been ok with or even ecstatic to be the face-only of rocketboom if and when it would have become that multi-billion dollar venture -- all you would have had to do was keep being yourself and not sweat the shit that andrew does best.

thanks for being patient, anybody who is reading the ranting of a devoted viewer who will still keep watching, and while sad to see one era go, is damn excited to see some new kick-ass, v2 features...especially if joanne colan continues to be a part of it...

  • Don't like her, don't like RB anymore, loved Amanda and now that she's this is too sad to watch, don't know what to say,

Amanda is a sweet candy and this new girl is just not worthy my bandwidth, sorry guys.

  • sg says:

Looks like the new girl is trying too hard to be like Amanda was. I don't even bother watching the Tivo recordings anymore. Maybe I will hit play one day and Amanda will be back or just stop downloading the show all together.

    Thanks Amanda.

Amanda on RB was funny, outrageous, and entertaining. I am sure many will miss her, and I look forward to seeing what she does next.

While I don't know if there's a right or wrong party in the public spat, I do think that Amanda has been the more skilled at spinning things.

That said, it seems to me that both Andrew and Amanda have been pioneers, and I commend Andrew for handling a situation in which he has the disadvantage (of not being the public face of his company). As for the 49%, I would think that given the publicity and Amanda's skillful media spin, you'll have her as a partner.

It's sad when a good thing goes sour, for whatever reasons that it did.

Joanne, great job... I really enjoyed the first episode. You do have an uncanny resemblance to Amanda, I do have to admit, but it's clear that you bring warmth and humor to the show, as well as a positive energy that I think will continue.

Best of luck to RB! Great job in weathering the mess.

I'm dissapointed and angry that Andrew ended such a great show; the spirit of rocketboom will never be te same without her. Joanne is a phony and it is a discrace that rocketboom has such a dark fate. My hope is that amanda will continue her genius work.
