Take those impeachments and apples. RB…awesome.
Interesting Man (Person) on the street interviews with an International addition.
This is one of my all time favorite RBs. Particularily enjoyed Milt’s coverage in Rapid City. Oh, and I love the man in Prague “why he’s awes-what? Asshole?” Oh, and awesome because: “Blowing up anyone who talks trash!”
hey, nice RB-branded microphone there :)
while i agree bush is one of the dummest presidents you ever had, i also think:
1. his operation in iraq could be regarded as a milestone in the political develpment of the middle east by future historians, if it succeeds. so far, it looks to me like it has more chances of succeeding than not.
2. his moon and mars space initiative is the most important and correct decision anyone in america as done recently. within the next few decades, we will see people on mars. the russians, the europeans and the chinese are working on it, and even one or two american aerospace private firms are. if america won’t be there, it will fall behind, scientifically, economically, and politically.
Why does it matter? One man does not run this country. The image of the United States should be its People, not its figurehead. Take all that energy you are expending attacking someone’s character and put it into helping your neighbors and fellow citizens in need. Actions, not words. Lead by example. History will measure us by what WE do, not what Bush does. He is just one man.
First I thought it was “handsome” or “asshole”… I saw the comment with “awesome”, a word that I didn’t know. I baught a dictionnary. Then I laught a bit (you could have heard something like “ha ha I am so stupid”) and I looked the movie again.
It’s good to see this diversity. Refreshing.
Good show !
Cyrille (France. Yes, I know…)
I think what the president does matters a great DEAL. And I don’t believe RB was attacking him. As you can clearly see, some of the “man-on-street” interviews were of people that thought highly of the president. What the president and this administration do will always reflect the people of the United States. TO deny this is pure idiocy. True, I think it is sad that because of ONE MAN, citizens of the U.S. can be branded negatively, however, in this world, in these times, image, sadly enough, is very important.
Did that one guy from Rapid City say:
“Primarily because he IS a Christian belief?”
Was is belief, or believer?
One of the best RB’s EVAH! Folks reactions to the question are priceless, almost more so than their answers.
Good job guys.
This was a really great episode. Noticably lacking of Amanda’s smiling face, but still a really cool way to get people to say what they think about Bush. I’d like to see how more of the people in Houston responded.
It is going to be a long and arduous wait until 2008, in the
other hand the country’s people will be divided a lot longer than that for what they think a leader of THIS great nation should be.
The mainstream media should buy Rocketboom because they are the perfect echo. Picking people on the coasts to bash Bush and making the people in middle America look stupid. I have lived on both coasts and in the middle and I can definitely say that the people in the middle have it together.
Bush is a fucking arsehole!!
Nice background music, btw
Why is RB so awesome?
Genius. Pure genius. My brother is right about you guys.
Drew, of course NYC contains many Bush haters especially if you focus around NYU and Columbia. Go down to the Financial District and you will find a different picture. Try a shopping mall in the midwest and there will be many more satisfied with his performance. What does it matter anyway? The truth is that the economy is doing well, energy prices are dropping, security is improving, and many new jobs are being created. The problem with the Republicians is that they are not doing a good job marketing their progress while the mainstream media and liberals continue to create a perception of doom. It’s all B.S.
Do you actually do anything with the show anymore, besides spend 2 or three seconds on the air. Not sure I blame you from hidding from the camera with the content you are putting out these days.
The best were the people in Prague. Particularly the man who translated awesome to a**hole with a snicker.
Thanks for loading all the raw. The Asian guy in NYC could barely conceal his contempt for the prez. The question hit people viscerally and really drew out people’s feelings…..and it is easy to understand why.
I am betting this episode is picked up by cable and the networks.
What a bunch of crap. All this proves is that people, for the most part, are morons who are moved more by emotion than fact or common sense.
Had you asked why is George Bush such a douch bag, you would have likely had even more negatives. You of course knew this, and padded the question the way the GOP would have liked you to. Yet rightly so, people mostly do not want to give a favorable answer. You could not have done it better! Even when the bushist fanatics ask if it is okay for the government to wire tap terrorists without a warrant, rather than ask if it is okay to spy on American citizens, they can only muster 60% favorable.
Great show!
Thanks.
hey DT, how about we take all that energy we’re using attacking other countries to help out our fellow neighbor. imagine troops in new orleans helping! HELPING! holy shit! that would have been so lovely, wouldnt it?
This RB excited me. i feel a connection to everyone who expressed their disgust with this adminitstration.
“Because he’s the president of the wealthiest nation in the country.”
What?
Very interesting responses, I’m off to look at the raw stuff.
You sure had lots of different kinds of microphones there.
“I ain’t even sayin’ the nigga’s racist…”
The vox pops are always incredibly rewarding, this one particularly. I can’t see how middle Americans were misrepresented as a previous commenter suggests. In fact their opinions seem to be more considered, at times, than some of their more glib coastal counterparts. I have watched and rewatched this episode and I recommend that all 150,000 or however many other Rocketboomers there were at last count do the same. It’s a brilliant piece of work
which celebrates America, rather than simply bashing the
commander-in-chief.
RB, you starting to lose me. Remember, half of the country is conservative, half liberal. Doing political type stuff puts off half your audience, no matter which way you go.
Let’s stick to the fun stuff RB does best.
this episode is amazing!
“2. his moon and mars space initiative is the most important and correct decision anyone in america as done recently.”
With all due respect, tsahi, that is exactly what his empty promises about the moon and Mars wanted people to think. NASA’s budget was actually cut not long after he made that speech. Bush is full of promises, but unless you are a huge corporation, or a defense contractor, there is precious little money going to back those promises up.
Amanda and Drew, have you noticed that when the right wingers who post here think they’re right they get smug and condescending, and when you prove them wrong they get belligerant? It’s no wonder the Archie Bunker stereotype persists.
Great show!!
Heh. Almost funnier than these episodes are the comments of those posing as right-wing nutjobs threatening to leave this, the video blog of their fave mid-west sorority-girl-moved-to-the-big-city.
“RB, you starting to lose me.”
Hilareous!
Totally agree with DT.
George Warhead Bush is a narrowminded, ignorant, egocentric idiot, a liar and a cheater, who’s getting to much attention. Besides that, he might be ok. :-)
I’m looking forward for the first black or white woman becoming president of the US.
I believe it really doesn’t matter which party controls Washington, they are all pretty much corrupted. So long as Ceasar provides “Bread & Circuses” for the masses (eg. stocked cheap supermarkets and plenty of TV channels) then the folks won’t rebel. Otherwise, Government is neutral at best and adversarial most of the time to our best interests. This is the nature of the modern Nation State.
are you guys getting political?
Bush-bashing is so 2004.
The only thing less imaginative than Bush-bashing is man-on-the-street Bush-bashing.
Why not do something productive and figure out how to beat him in 2008? As was proven in 2004, bashing Bush for 4 years actually increased his margin of votes.
This was not a very good Rocketboom. Maybe it would have been funnier if you played it in fast motion set to some Russian music and Amanda jumped around.
He is so awesome because he stands up to the “whacko” liberal left who continue to blame him for anything that happens that they don’t like or agree with. Give it up “whackos” he won the election, twice, and believe it or now, he is our President.
Political Discussion all too often degrades into manipulating the facts (or lack thereof) into a story that corresponds with the way a person feels. Thanks RB for not doing this.
For me to consider whether or not Bush is doing a good job, I’d have to see a comprehensive document of some sort listing every single decision he’s ever had to make as president, familiarize myself with the full scope of those decisions, and only then could I come to what I believe would be a sound opinion on whether or not he’s doing a good job as potus. Obviously, I haven’t done this, but more importantly I think people who -are- passing judgment on the president, one way or the other, haven’t done it either. In fact I’d say most of the American public is incredibly ignorant when it comes to the subject of reality outside of the scope of what directly affects their own lives.
Um, entertaining episode all the same.
WAR CRIMES FIRST,THEN IMPEACH
I am disappointed again. Do you think that all your viewers are Bush haters? Even if your viewers are not the perfect cross section of the political population, there have to be at least 30% of them that are not enjoying your political rants. I love your vlog, but the Bush bashing, political haranguing is really tedious.
That was a knee-slapping barnyard ho-down!
God bless America!
Hi RB!
I live in Sweden and it’s nice to see a diffrent picture of USA. It’s nice to see that there are so many sane people that see trough his lies. By the way check out this documentary http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5137581991288263801&q=loose+change
keep up the AWSOME work!
That was a great episode!
I like the “man on the street” questions, and the use of RB correspondents made it extra good, so we got a sense of people’s reactions around the entire WORLD.
It reminds me of Steven Colbert’s question:
Is President Bush a great president or the GREATEST President?
Not much of a choice, eh?
Gore/Obama ‘08!
Yes. More, more, more. Even after the third time through I had to bust out laughing on the “Dickhead” comment. Perfect.
One meaning of “awesome” is “inspiring.” To his constituency, Mr. Bush is, indeed, inspiring, almost with a religious fervor. To his opposition, it is difficult to apply the word “awesome.” However, I suggest that, even to his detractors, Mr. Bush has an inspiring quality, which is his focused and relentless promotion of his stated agenda. You have to respect the tenacity if nothing else.
Who selected the word “awesome” anyway?
Bye bye Rocketboom…what a shame that you are ruining a great franchise with efforts to change something that you are powerless to influence.Perhaps it’s a sense of impotence that causes the bitter whining that has pervaded the past few episodes.Anyhow I used to enjoy you but now I’m gone .Even Amanda’s perky good looks can’t make up for being so far off point.
This was brilliant! Keep up the great work and do a few more of these!
By my count the tally was 13 pro and 19 con responses to the question. That tracks almost exactly his approval/disapproval rating made by AP last week.
You obviously did a nice job of capturing the gestalt of the moment!
Tedious episode. Why are you so bitter Rocketboom? Kerry lost, disappeared again, and world is better off. Gore is still ranting nonsense and the press is still activing as if he has some intelligence. Your got your half a loaf.
Sad day for Rocketboom.
RB used to be funny… politics: not funny.
You know, I went to the Galleria near mid town Houston. I was going to goto a red-neck bar, or some VFW, but this mall had a nice selection of people from various political and social backgrounds. I will tell you this much….
I got turned down by tons of people. Many said they were in a hurry, and many didnt even try. I tried to get the cowboys and Texas country men to answer the question, but had to settle for just 2.
I am amazed at how many Bush supporters are bashing you for this episode…your question was a POSITIVE question!
You asked why is he so awesome.
Just think how mad they would be if you had asked “Why is Bush such a jackass?”.
Plus, MANY of the replies were FAVORABLE! It’s obvious to me that the real problem some people have is actually hearing responses that are negative. Above “Joey” says that 13 responses are positive and 19 are negative…that doesn’t seem like “bashing”.
The Bush supporters obviously just think that any questioning of the President, his administration and their abilities equals “bashing” “bitterness” and “ranting”.
I also want to remind everyone that Rocketboom is NOT the news - it is an internet video show - and they can do whatever the hell they want!
And I personally think that’s what makes the internet and America great!
Keep on ‘Boomin’!
Because he’s the president of the wealthiest nation in the country.. classic..
I have always thought RB was unique and clever. But, honestly, what is clever or unique about going around and asking people what is basically, a loaded question either way? Too bad you can’t ask that question about the house and senate, where most of the power lies. But, what would be the fun in that? That wouldn’t be nearly as funny, would it?
Do you really think people want to watch a zany, less formal version of the big media they can already watch on TV? Stick to the tech/quirky stuff and stay out of the libral/politics thing.
Good job reporting that there are “many” people who don’t like Bush, though. I mean, I never could have heard that slant from one of the big news outlets. Gimme a break.
The difference between RB and mainstream news is I went onto Fox News’ blog to leave feedback, oh wait they don’t have one. RB remains open and acessible. Awesome.
It was just awesome! The last line was like the icing on the cake - thank you so much for doing this!!
So you really want to impeach him for doing the most important part of his job, protecting the country from foreign attack? Since Clinton tarnished the oval office most people have forgotten what the role of the President is. The anti-Bush people just seem to parrot what they get from MTV and Michael Moore. No facts, just name-calling. And who cares what Prague thinks? If the communists/socialists of the world hate Bush that proves he’s doing a GREAT job.
Viewership must be slipping. Bush-bashing draws plenty of comments, but not very entertaining. It sad watching people stuggle to articulate their views of the president. Time to move on.
SP/Typo It’s sad…
amanda is hot. i didnt see her though.
I have to object to the content of today’s segment. The question being asked the people on the street was a leading, pro-Bush question. And I object to all the pro-Bush content. Plus the editing to make it even more weighted towards the pro-Bush viewpoint is just outrageous.
RB, you are starting to lose me.
;-)
Great segment for today…casual Friday? well this was the best–we need more stuff like this…keep rolling RB
As a resident of an infrared state (77 counties in Oklahoma, and every one of them voted for GWB, and so did I), I have to say that I wasn’t at all perturbed by this particular RB: yes, it was a leading question, but that’s what interviewers do, after all.
(Okay, maybe I was perturbed a little by not seeing Amanda. Life goes on.)
Anyway, I’m too old, or too cranky, to select my blogfare purely on the basis of whether it reinforces my own particular set of prejudices; if something agrees with me 100 percent of the time, obviously I don’t need to spend any time on it.
What a treat! I laughed the whole time. I liked the way you couched the question, too.
if amanda were the first lady, bush would probably be awesome and he would be doing love instead of war, and by the streets they would be asking people why bush is such a jackass in the same way amanda asks today
I’m here in the middle (omaha being as middle as you can be) and I like to bash bush until the cows come home. The bush supporters sound more bitter than anyone else, it would seem. Obama’s the Man from the Middle to bring us all together again!
Rocketboom rocketboom boom boom boom!
“Why is President Bush so awesome?”
Why, meaning for what purpose is he awesome? Well, as George Washington established, it is important that the leader of a nation show a degree of majesty commensurate with the importance of the office.
Why, meaning in what way is he awesome? Well, to start with, he was a heroic war pilot, shot down in combat saving us and the world from fascist tyranny. Then, he could have lived off his father’s prestige and fortune, but instead went to Texas and started a successful oil company. He became a Member of Congress, then chaired the Republican National Committee. He was the first U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, was Director of Central Intelligence, and served for eight years as Vice President of the United States. As President, he assembled an unparalleled international cooperative effort to rescue a small country that had been invaded and enslaved by its larger neighbor, and stopped the war when it was appropriate to do so — never going too far. In retirement, he’s continued to be a world traveler, co-chairing bipartisan relief efforts for victims of tragedies around the globe. He’s unfailingly polite and has a great sense of humor. That’s how President George Herbert Walker Bush is awesome.
Oh, wait a minute. Did you mean the current President, George Walker Bush? Well, that’s something completely different. Never mind.
George W. Bush is awesome because thanks to him, we got this awesome RB episode!
Wayne,
That’s what makes America great - the freedom of speech. It allows people to disagree. And to speak out on injustice and inequity.
Oh…and it also allows you to complain when the President decides to illegally wiretap your ass, rack up ENORMOUS deficits, send American troops into battle without appropriate body armor, imprison people without giving them a trial, torture, not capturing Osama bin Laden, etc, etc…
Hey Wayne, as a vet with 20 years, I swore an oath to the constitution not any particular president, try doing that in Iran or China.
President Bush is awesome for putting up with all the crap he’s been taking for leading our country during its most difficult time. This country is awesome in that people can rag on the President without fear of reprisal. I wish Rocketboom would start a new vlog for political purposes and leave Rocketboom for news outside the mainstream. Thanks
Bush is awesome. He faultlessly demonstrates America to be a living organism, and he is the tumescence which indicates a sickness within.
Without the dedicated instruction of a superior, bad children become bad adults. Too readily blind eyes are turned, discipline and love denied. (PS Love is not money.)
Absent of personal, familial and community responsibility, the country grows hyper-populated with morally bereft zombies, bankrupt of social capital, lacking the judgement necessary to make decisions.
There are no voting restrictions on Zombie-Americans, and neither is their reproduction prohibited.
They are fucking eachother and fucking us over.
Fault the system. Fault the country, community and family. Fault the man. The good book is only good for so much; the law only extends so far.
Without love and discipline, zombies crowd the streets, the polling booths, the air waves.
Tug at your “What Would deTocqueville Do?” vanity bracelet and hope for the best.
The Miss America Pagaent is tonight. Too bad there isn’t a 51st State called Rocketboom. We all know who would be the next Miss America. Hands down. No contest. (Thought I’d just add in a plug in case there is a vlog hosting category along with swimsuit, talent (dancing) and fancy dress)
Dear Rocketboom,
How dare you be relevant and display an opinion. Amanda should just sit at her desk with a few buttons open and flip her hair and show us nothing but robots and monkeys washing kittens. For shame, Rocketboom, for shame.
;-)
The loaded question was clever - igniting really strong opposition statements on one side and giving the pro-Bush crowd an obvious launch for their opinions.
Interesting how many responses lack real substance and information - like reverting to name calling or listing off warm and fuzzy type traits.
Responses were not a surprise especially from New York…….
….but the giggling from the persons asking the questions and the editing to end the whole piece with the impeachment emphasis - reveals your personal bent.
This is good though. I’d rather know who you really are. IF I ever decide to watch anymore Rocketboom, at least I know where you are coming from. I was suspicious before, but now I think it’s pretty clear. ;)
I’ve been watching RB for a few weeks and enjoying it for the most part, but these latest attacks on President Bush will cause me to stop. RB has shown nothing with their interviews; more than 70% of eligible voters in this nation didn’t care enough one way or another about Bush to even vote.
RB, stay away from politics. There are thousands of blogs and columns and radio shows and television shows with idiots’ opinions out there to read and watch and listen to. I watched your show because the stories were interesting and entertaining, refreshingly original. Now you’re just another bug splat on the windshield of political commentary.
Wow, another Tyson, He isn’t me however. Bush is not a conservative. All of you Republican and Bush apologists need to get that through your thick skulls. True conservatives realize this, why can’t you.
A little history lesson may be in order here. Prior to the election there was an unprecedented deluge of over 40 book titles written by prominent authors, insiders, former cabinet members, etc. that all had the same basic premise: “Bush Sucks.” Plus let’s not fail to throw in the 2nd highest grossing documentary of all time , Air America, The NYT and high profile mentions on the same order at the Oscars and the Grammies. And that is only a smattering of the pre-election effort to try and trip up the President. Now, what if there were 40 books about the wonderful-ness of John Kerry to go alongside the gung-ho documentary that PBS ran and the softball interviews, ignored mis-quotes, etc.? Maybe the brains of a generation could have done better had they focused on making their chosen leader the hero of all that talented writing. They didn’t. Probably, because being my Massachusetts Senator, they as I know, there is really nothing to write about. Then again, think of how much bigger Bush’s win would have been without those 40 books and the movie, etc. trying to drag him down. Let’s face it. All of that failed. Now, in the grand scheme, and it is a scheme, maybe the Gena Davis as a Hilary stalking horse can become the new reality in the mind of those who think Presidents should be more like Martin Sheen. But, do we really want that?
TC said
It sad watching people stuggle to articulate their views of the president.
Hmm said
Interesting how many responses lack real substance and information - like reverting to name calling or listing off warm and fuzzy type traits.
That about sums it up for me. It’s frustrating, but I keep a pretty neutral view on stuff like this. I can’t consider myself informed enough to make a decision when the only thing I could base it on is the pointless rhetoric coming from both sides of the issue. How can you say “he’s a douchebag” or “he’s got great values” and pretend that the statement has any value at all? :(
CLINTON Years
“Why do you think Clinton is a good husband?”
= funny
BUSH W Years
“Why do you think Bush is Awesome?”
= funny
Now, who would you impeach?
I wonder what the answer would be if you asked this question to a … NINJA?
Man, some of these comments are completely idiotic. People that come on here and bitch about RB “leaning left” and not being balanced is hilarious. It isn’t the news. They have no responsibility to be balanced. If you dont like it, don’t watch.
Now to my second rant. BUSH IS NOT A CONSERVSATIVE. He is the poorest example I have ever seen of a conservative leader. He spends more money than God, he actually contributes to a GROWING government. Republicans who don’t see this are completely blind to the truth. They simply will swallow any crap they here from Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, and every other Bush apologist out there.
I think the only fair comment can be: Let Rocketboom be Rocketboom.
Good work. People around the world. it’s good. But I don´t see iraquies people. I think Bush is a dealer for war. I don’t like this. The people needs leaders for peace around the world
You know how I know the President is awesome? Because all the left can seem to muster up is whining and name calling rather than actually coming up with rational policy that mainstream America can latch onto. Thank you for bringing this to light in your “educational,” yet obviously sarcastic segment on Friday.
AWESOME!
I laughed soooo hard!
Good Job!
Nils (from Germany)
@dave:
That lady you are talking about, she doesn’t say that the USA is the wealthiest nation on earth.
She says: The US is “the wealthiest nation in the country!”
That could be true.
I think it would be good to interview people in DC to see what they think
Ha ha ha. This was excellent. It’s great to see people speaking their minds. You will never see this on the news. Great stuff!!
What an uplifting place to live - what with all that support for our government, i dont know what I’ll do.
I’m a drone that reads crappy uneducated opinions about a state of life that is out of my controll and then think I’m whitty for coming up with childish insults to throw at other people I feel oppose my egotistical rambelings!
take my picture!
Comic genius!! They should play this on national TV. CNN ain’t got nothing on RocketBoom in this department! LOL
Fantastic!!!
This is one of my favorites!
Renata (São Paulo - Brasil)
You have redeemed yourselves on this one!!!
This is an excellent, “we are the media” example of videoblogging!
I must say I really enjoyed this episode (regardless of the subject) There could not be any better way to set an example.
I give this 4 Thumbs up!!
This clip just shows how blind a small part of our population really is. It is so easy to make it look like we are divided down the middle, when in reality 95% of this country believes Our president is a great man. They believe he has the best interest of our country at heart. The media and this site and others like it, find it so easy to make it look like folks hate our president, when in fact the only people that said bad things about our president were, folks that could barely speak english, some stupid girl that doesn’t have the right to say anything anyway, because she doesn’t even know that someone died so she could live, and she probably doesn’t care either. and 2 or 3 Asian guy’s and you know they hate us anyway, cause we won. We all know that if Al Gore, John Kerry, or God help us, the “Anti-Christ” Hillary Clinton were in office right now. We would be so unprotected, Hillary’s husband, who will go down in history as the 2nd worst president we ever had next to JFK “thank God for bullets” and The amazingly stupid idiot Jimmy Carter, you put them in order. Allowed Sadam to murder hundreds of thousands of his own people that we had swore to protect. When Bill Clinton pulled out of Iraq the first time we had Sadam and Bin Ladden, and he let them go, because he answered to his commie wife, and the most obsolete and useless organization ever, the United Nations. Wake up people, Liberalism is a mental disorder. You can not talk to people who don’t want peace. World peace will never happen. All they want is us dead and our great nation to fall. If you are offended by this go live in China, Russia, N. Korea, or any of your favorite get aways. Oh yea! I forgot the biggest crap hole of them all, FRANCE! We fought for their freedom and now they hate us, we should have let Hitler exterminate them, or maybe we should have just talked about it. Or mybe we could have made a treaty with him and gave him France. That would have been great Huh! There is only one reason why someone in our country hates our president, they hate America. They should be brought in front of a fireing squad and shot as traitors. GOD BLESS AMERICA and even those stupid jerks!
I find it interesting that anyone who had criticisms of Bush basically were doing name calling (he’s a moron, he’s an asshole). Sure would like to hear some more mature reasons.
