When Matt is first shown sawing with the hacksaw, it that a human leg hanging down on the left front side of the screen?
Wow! Where were those guys in the ’60s? I guess it IS true. Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. Now I wonder what they could do if they had ye olde ancient stimulants from that era. It is amazing that they managed to do this while straight. WOW! Maybe they had an ex-hippie as a shop teacher. Next up. Do it yourself Lava Lamps and oil in water projections.
So wich episode was that at the end? I mean I know wich tiki bar episode, but wich rocketboom episode did the dancing Amanda come from. Or is this for us to guess and the winner gets a free something?
Amanda and Crew,
Great episode once again; Congratulations on the recognition and coverage you received in Newsweek this past week. Watch out Leno. Hereeeee’s Amanda.
Yup. Outta here. What a waste of bandwidth. Guess it might take a few months to get going again….
Sorry, this was another snooze-fest.
Amanda, what exactly is “Web 2.0″ about someone taking the guts out of a stoplight and replacing them with 20-watt bulbs? …because they control it from a computer? I thought I’d be able to run it from a web site or something.
And another thing: WHY would you replace the big honkin’ REAL bulbs with milque-toast 20-watt bulbs? “…40-watt bulbs were too bright…” Sheesh!
Rocketboom
Howard who?
I enjoyed the intro and the ending but the feature story about traffic lights was boring. Let’s hear more witty comments from Amanda.
Jeez, folks, lighten up. So this wasn’t the greatest ep., big deal. I hardly think Amanda and Drew deserve all this venom. They spent the weekend in Vegas, and still managed to get RB on the web, which is no mean feat, so cut them a little slack if they choose to do a single issue show now and again.
What does your shirt say? “Good news” something…
Don’t get me wrong. I liked the story. I am sure that this beginners path to self discovery via synchronized traffic lights is only a step along the path to greater things for these guys. But it is kind of fun to watch how the wheel gets reinvented by those that have aquired new toys to play with. Nothing wrong with a little levity over at RB. Could not get the Do it yourself Amanda dance link to work.
Folks:
I’ve fallen helplessly in mirth and awe with your site. Fifteen episodes aren’t enough to slake my thirst for RB. Is there a site I can gorge my Ipod on past episodes? I’ve been to your archive link but no down load joy.
I love Amanda
perhaps the next project these guys can do is a learning dancing stoplights machine jaja when the upper light machine ligths on you move on your head, when the middle ligth your hip and arms and like that, amanda don’t use this machine, you’ll be toooo perfect if you learn how to dance seriously
jaja it’s so funny to see amanda dancing is loveable
Thanks for fixing the ‘Amanda Dance Kit’ link. I can’t decide if that guy is very clever, or just very lonely.
Love me my RB!!
See ya tomorrow. :-)
Ok—where in this piece do these people profess to be discovering anything new? I think this is just a sweet little vid capturing some folks setting up and hanging a novelty item. And they know it. No sense in beating them up for it. If you came here looking for the future– that’s your issue.
Oh, and Amanda referencing ‘Web 2.0′ –maybe that was a little tongue-in-cheek? What am I saying? Amanda doesn’t do tongue-in-cheek. (DOH!)
When is Lupita going to host the show? She can fill in if you get sick. Or maybe you can do a “Where is Lupita” episode on one of your next trips. Maybe you can do a Tiki Bar set? And have Dr. Tiki, Lala and the gang hanging out too.
I love Amanda!
beautiful opening! she makes even those lousy wannabe geeks look good.
And catfish, the shirt read “Good news ***** indeed”. Don’t know what the ***** was.
Wow - Tiki-B-TV is on your vcast and *you* are on theirs. That’s so ironic or something.
I have no comment about how it takes 8 bits to control 3 lights- maybe a number 0 to 8 was meant(?) but not being an alphageek I better keep quiet. Still - better than cable TV.
Definitely I prefer the ending with that lovely retro swing in the dancing. The rest was not boring but slow, perhaps in contrast with the recent speed of banjos in c.e.s. note. But… in the contrast and diversity is the joy. isn’t it?
That man who appears in the “d.i.y. amanda dance kit” is colombian, where I am from. It’s really funny. :-)
You are truly pioneering the future!
Sheesh. Do you angry people ever have any fun?
Isn’t it amazing enough that RB continues to discover and deliver new content at such a pace?
Yeah, it would be way cooler if the light changed color every time some lame dork posted an inane comment on Rocketboom about how this story just isn’t cool enough for them.
Damn.
yeah–seriously. bitchy folks with nothing but time on their hands. this is JUST CONTENT. it’s not a cure for cancer. and the geek wannabes were just messing around–not trying to wow your bored asses. that’s YOUR job. remember–the first step toward getting help for your problem is admitting you have one.
leron, you otta’ see airplanes up close. They are sooooo much bigger than they look in the sky. But streetlights look bigger hanging hanging over a street than airplanes in the sky. I think it’s a teckni…teknick…a science thing.
Amanda green screened into Tiki Bar:

I used to have my own parking meter, thanks to the city of Austin, TX. After many years, I gave it to Tom in Kittridge, CO.
Sigh. Those were the days.
