Rocketboom

  1. So Sen. Edwards likes Amanda’s look as well. He is right on target concerning energy prices as the major player by 2030. Either we have really moved beyond fossil fuel dependency by then or we will be up to our eyeballs in debt still filling up the SUV at the station at about 300 a tank!

Ammmanda- Again let me put it to you this way: there was a poll taken only 16% of this country would vote for Hillary. 53% would not. Let give you another shocker 58% of Democrats in a recent Zogby poll say “accept their lower position in Congress and work together with Republicans to craft the best legislation possible”
What I am saying is this Liberal stuff is not good for your business.

I have some suggestions on how you can get to know conservatives A) talk and hang out with millitary people. You will grow and understand the war B) Talk to corporate types and you will understand the free market and why John Edwards makes no sense.

I think we will have something figured out for alternative fuels (hydrogen/ethanol/muscle) by 2030, or at least change our lifestyles enough to compensate for an energy/environmental crisis.

  7. A/RB,

You have the opportunity to interview Sen. Edwards and those are the “witty” questions you’re able to ask? You writers are stronger than that and you have so much charm, why in gods green earth did you not bring out you’re A game? Your goal, maybe, was to be funny or cute? But you came across as lame and boring. Miss opportunity.

Ok, the energy discussion was good, I’ll give you that.

I am rarely critical of RB, and especially Amanda, but this was such a sophomoric attempt at an interview. It was like someone from Middle High School was conducting the intervies. I think even Edwards was a little embarassed by it based on his body language. Amanda, grow up a bit. You are so intelligent, charming and beautiful. Being a hipster and young at heart is great, but sometimes being more thoughtful and serious is what is called for, especially when you are speaking to such an important man. You are still awesome in my book!

  13. Amanda and company,

While I am not a big fan of the Republicans these days either, I’m concerned about your show sounding too partisan. You guys are at the leading edge of vlogging and Internet Video, and in a way have the responsibility of helping to set the standard of the mainstream. Let the gaffs of the Republicans speak for themselves, without getting so blatant about your personal disgust.

  14. i love all this talk of republicans and democrats, everyone gets so riled up. if you just bring it up on the show to appease your audience, smart move, but if you really believe that there is a difference between the two then you’re just kidding yourself. rhetoric aside, they are pretty much one and the same, that’s why we have almost a %99 re-election rate, one the soviets would have been proud of, and almost half the population doesn’t even bother to vote. i’d love to see a party actually stand for something other than pork barrel projects or saving their own jobs and asses.

  17. First of All, it is only a window of 2 minutes to do a casual Friday interview, and you have to be casual, that leaves time for one serious question?

Time and time again in the history of our country, decisions made on the ballot box by the common people when they realized that what was presented to them as a conservative and highly moralist stance was only to get you in the tent, those times are now very clear that if you’re not a wealthy individual the tent is no more.

Rocket packs are still the dream of every baby boomer. Mythbusters tried to make one from plans bought on the Internet. Didn’t work, as it takes an enormous amount of energy to generate enough thrust to lift an adult off the ground.

The original rocket pack flights in the 60s lasted only 20-30 seconds because that’s all the fuel you can carry comfortably.

However, this guy has a slightly new approach, check this out:

On a different subject, as I wrote to Rocketboom, I think it’s kind of cold that they don’t even acknowledge emails with a polite reply saying something like “we can’t personally reply to all emails, but appreciate you writing” or something like that.

I’ve written to the general address and Amanda a few times and was completely ignored.

One more thing again to explain to you this liberal stuff is not going garner you viewers. Look at Air America and Al Franken’s bunch. They are only on the air because of DONATIONS not ADVERTISERS. They are loosing stations. Sure they got a lot of media hype from the “MSM” (MainStream Media) but they are in the poorhouse now.

I would like to challenge you: How about doing a show where you are at the airport meeting returning American soliders from Iraq and ask them what they did on their mission:what did they accomplish and should we support it and why? This would be an educational expirence for you and you would grow as a person for doing it.

There are loads of other possible candidates, including Edwards (who I voted for in our caucus). Brian, he’s not a senator anymore because he left office to run for President. He didn’t get “booted.” He thinks he qualifies to be president from being a darn good senator and being pretty intelligent.

If you have a thoughtful comment to Democratic or liberal policies and ideas (real ones, not made-up ones), go for it. Smarmy comments about individuals may be fun to write, but they don’t mean anything. They’re just mental flatulence.

    Ammanda and co-
I appreciate all of the responses to what I have had to say but I am sincere about what I say. You posed a question during the interview as to how you could reach out to your conservative viewers. Well I personally believe a visit to an airport when our American troops are comming back from Iraq could you could give you a diverse perspective rather than just hanging around like-minded people like Steve Garfield’s friend Kos. (By the way I loved Steve’s piece on Wi-fi pulse points) It could teach you a lot about about the majority of American Political thought these days.

If you did a show where you met our troops at the airport. I am convinced that they would fall for you Ammanda as much you would for men in uniform and you would understand our President and the mission to bring Democracy to the Arab world. I could sit here and comment why the war is necessary but you would never get it unless you talked to the troops first hand. You could do that and you would come off smelling like a rose honoring our troops for the work that they did over there.

There is a fameous quote in American politics. A tv interviewer interviewed a woman in NYC right after the Nixon- McGovern race and she said “I don’t know why McGovern lost all my friends voted for him.” NY liberals haven’t really changed. My bet is you guys all had the same view after Kerry lost. I wish you the best with your video blog and I believe you guys are on the cutting edge with many things but you need to get out there and get beyond NYC and interact with conservative Republicans to be a broad based sucess. I believe you can do it Ammanda.

  87. Has anyone seen the Pepsi commercial with Jimmy Fallon trying, and I mean trying to ape Amanda’s famous dance moves in a NYC setting?
He or someone at BBDO must be fans of RB. “cause that thing didn’t come out of thin air. Now she joins the ranks of the great choreographers: Balanchine, Fosse, Bennet, Congdon!

  90. Hello, RF, I’m a liberal Democrat in the Heartland (Nebraska) and Amanda connects with me. You don’t have to live in NYC to really despise Shrub&Co. And it would seem from most of the comments from the conservatives that they can handle Rocketboom’s liberal attitudes while maintaining their own point of view.

  92. Relax everybody! It’s cool RB can have a normal fun conversation with someone without it being a BIG DEAL with hardball questions, etc.
There was a precedent set, however - when have you seen a formal Vice Presidential Candidate put a moustache on his OWN picture? History in the making.

  93. DA DA DA DA DA DA DAAAAAA…

Oooooooo…an interview with Edwards…WOWWWWWWWWWWW…what a coooooooooup! Look, go flirt with married men who WIN once in a while, and take the payback for the silly little slam at Republicans by being the last on earth to show the Dole fall.

You guys are stupid…yet some of your stuff is real funny. How can we work it so we always get funny stuff?

FINALLY, thank whoever had the nerve to use their first experiment with GarageBand as a bed under the (gag) pillowfight segment. Puleeze…shoot it at a college dorm with drunk chicks, but not a winter crowd standng in the middle of nowhere. Right? Look, I’m sure you were quite delighted with your childish little effort, but if you need audio, get it professionally. Or get somebody who knows how to compose on GarageBand. Don’t foolishly throw up somebody’s first-time effort just so they’ll potty train ok. Make it funny now, k? Just do the funny.

For Gods sake, I’m getting tired of wading through tons and tons of crap just to catch a brief smile, or God forbid, an actual LAUGH! Like back in the day, remember?

Quit trying to be everything like everybody else is, focus on your niche and smother it. Christ, next you’ll probably start giving dopler readings and run breast cancer psa’s.

  95. Dear Amanda,

Very fun interview to watch. Sen Edwards is a nice guy. I like your questions about facial hair… that was funny.

Could you delete my comment on February 13??? It’s the one that says Reni and it’s like the second to last…Cause I said something without an explanation.

    I’m not really Belzer’s kid sister. I’m just Jewish… could be a distant cousin, maybe…???? I dunno.

My father is descended from a Jewish-French lineage (Kittel) that left Canada to live in the Appalachian mountains. My great-grandmother’s family (Hartman) fled to Holland from Germany before the Holocaust. And there was a child at Auschwitz #26947 that is the spittin’ image of my brother and I.

Richard was just the only one who cared enough to make sure I stayed away from the window ledge after I wrote a rather desperately funny essay to him of how his smile helped save my life.

I signed the letter: “Your Kid Sister… kinda, sorta.” ‘Cause I wanted him to know that he reminded me of my big brother who died three years ago (and I wasn’t some silly fan leaving my brain at the door and asking some celebrity to find it for me.)

I will always be grateful even if he doesn’t believe me… And I will always seek to be kinder than “necessary” for everyone around me is facing some kind of battle. (-Plato)

    Have a wonderful tomorrow.

  101. Ok, that was some hardcore flirting. What’s w/you two?

This was really cool though… I think Edwards is probably the most personable and charming guys out there in the political field. Is he running in ‘08?

  102. The reason you can’t understand him is because 1. he’s not too smart, and 2. he’s from North Carolina.

Some might argue that I have those two items out of order, but I wasn’t trying to imply a correlation.

  103. Really enjoyed this episode. I’ve been hopeful that Edwards will run in 2008. This fun interview only re-enforced my belief that he should be the next democratic presidential candiate. He’s real.

    Peace,
