I like to think I could beat Amanda in a pillow fight but I’m not sure. I guess there’s only one way to find out. What do you say Amanda, next time you’re in England?

    No?

    OK, just thought I’d ask.

    Great show as always guys.

  2. Black Eagle says:

Seems now is up (and was not when i post my first -mysteriously vanished, curiously indeed because it was not saying anything disrespectful or something like that-post)…you can freely ignore me now.

  3. SteveL says:

Hey that was fun. Reminds me of my old Hippie days (the real ones in the 70′s).

Bet you won’t get 220 comments on that. Welcome to the wonderful world of Capitalism where sponcors can actually say “O.K. That will be enough of that”.

  4. Knight says:

If only all Man’s disputes were to be solved via a grand and glorious Pillow Fight. The World would be a happier place and the flight of the feathers would stand for the bloody foolishness of war we have all condoned for far too long.

  5. FreeSpeech says:

Why does Rocket Boom censor its forum?

Does Rocket Boom disclose the fact that it censors its forums to investors?

What rules does Rocket Boom use to censor its forum?

Is it to prevent dissenting opinions? I thought Rocket Boom was a big First Amendment, Free-Speech Advocate?

Seems a little like the Black Lists of the 1950′s.

    This smacks of Big Brother.

  6. newmindspace says:

thank you everybody who came to the pillow fight! you were the ones who made it unforgettable. and thank you, rocketboom (amanda for being awesome and drew for awesome music & editing!) for this video :) we will cherish it forever.

if you want to hear about other events like this, get on our mailing list.

    pillow fight!

  7. Black Eagle says:

    Freespeech,

well i don’t know if your comment is referrered to what i post about my comment dissapearing. In any case, i DID NOT suggest here was censorship, because my post did not contain anything that could be considered subject of censure (if there was a stablished censorship, with a definition of what was allowed or not), nor was offensive, etc…

If Drew (ruler of the site), or anyone else for that matter understood i was suggesting a different thing, then i offer my apologies….But seems is more of a language barrier than other thing.

  8. tycobrahe says:

Ahhhhhh, what a difference a day makes. And that goes for each and everyone of us in all of our lives. Kudos on all the usual stuff mentioned above: Screen, Map, Music and topic. The interesting surprises just keep on coming.

  9. FreeSpeech says:

    Black Eagle,

I was not referring to your post but I appreciate your response.

I am referring to the practice Rocket Boom (drew/a) has of silencing certain users who post to the forum.

Having reviewed their posts I can see nothing profane nor obscene about their posts. I did notice that they were not always in agreement with the politics of drew/a/Rocket Boom.

These user’s machine’s are prevented from posting, thus, silencing these individuals.

Rocket Boom seems to promote Free Speech the way Hollywood promoted free speech in the 1950′s, namely, black-listing nonconformists.

Why does Rocket Boom censor its forums? Does Rocket Boom publish why it censors its users? Does Rocket Boom inform its investors that it (Rocket Boom) censors its forums? Kind of like a Pharmaceutical Company not publishing research indicating its new medication, the darling, is without side-effects.

Again, why does Rocket Boom censor its forum users?

  10. elpainter says:

Yes! This is another day full of
hope and sunshine, the rollercoaster ride begins again, slow moving and fun at first and then the screamers and the moaners show their stuff, then it peaks at the climax with a sight of relief of such a storm in a teacup, then the whole thing simmer down before it begins allover again. Life in our times?

  11. David Allen says:

    Amanda and Drew,
Woah! Pwnage! NYC pillow fights AND widescreen Rocketboom. Nice, I gotta get in on this action…

Also, you used Garageband to make the music, Drew. Caught ya!

Basking in my Apple technological knowledge,
    David

  12. Lastof says:

Awesome. If I lived in NY I would have loved to take part. Looked alot of fun.

Oh, and FreeSpeech, I believe that posts considered to be spam are removed. If they were censoring people, yesterday’s comments would have been empty, and your comments would obviously disappear.

  13. FreeSpeech says:

    Lastof,

Good response. However, the censored did not post spam and I did not suppose that Rocket Boom censored everyone who does not praise them.

Just like Hollywood did not blacklist every non-conformist during the 1950′s, only those unfortunate select-few who were placed on the Black List. Later these artists had to resort to pen-names or ghost-writings to succeed.

Why does Rocket Boom (drew/a) censor its forums? What are the conditions under which a forum-user might find themself black-listed by Rocket Boom (drew/amanda)? Is Rocket Boom (are drew/amanda) prejudiced?

Does Rocket Boom promote Free Speech?

Why does Rocket Boom (drew/a) censor its forums?

Are Rocket Boom’s investors aware that Rocket Boom censors its forum?

  14. conniec says:

I had no idea pillow fighting had gotten so out of hand. Still, I suppose better pillows than guns. At least they are more difficult to conceal. I will take care next time I am in NYC if I see anyone with a pillow.

And we will keep an eye out to ensure none of those pillows make it across the border into Canada.

    Thanks for the warning, Rocketboom!!

  15. Daniel B. says:

    Dear Amanda, dear Andrew,

You know the best thing about the new widescreen version? Now you can finally see THE WHOLE WORLD behind Amanda!!!
(well, actually everything but Siberia, Mongolia and China, which is covered by Amanda…)

One symbolic step further towards Global Rocketboom.

    Still love your show,
    Daniel B. from Germany

  16. berry says:

Haha, I recognized some of the Garageband samples: the violins and the vinyl scratches. That’s really cool. Amazing how easy to create background music, eh?

  17. jo says:

the big show is today, but j believe my religion awesome!the music is so awesome.uu uuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..;-)
    ps:see you a soon

  18. J.W. says:

I used to have pillow fights in college all the time but nothing at this scale.

I knew there was going to be a Pillow Fight! in NYC, I knew I couldn’t make it, and I STRONGLY suspected RB would cover it.

I am glad I got to be able to see it!

I would have enjoyed it much, much more if either a) We saw Amanda nail some poor pillow fighter b) we saw Amanda get nailed by someone c) Amanda duked it out with an evil Amanda or d) all of the above occurred in slow motion.

I guess you can save that for the sequel :)

  19. FreeSpeech,

I have heard exactly what you have been talking about. The apparent black-listing Rocket Boom has been doing to silence certain forum members that do not necessarily flatter the political positions of Rocket Boom.

Seems like the secret police of Castro’s Cuba or Stalin’s Russia.

Ditto your question, Why does Rocket Boom censor the forum?

  20. Gary says:

Nice to see a re-enactment of one of England’s lesser known, historic battles. It seems the Discovery and History Channel have already covered the more popular War of the Roses, the 100 Year War, etc., but few are aware that the precursor of these was actually known as “The Fowl Wars”; many people mistakenly thought the name referred to the stench, but thanks to NewMindSpace.com & RB we now see the truth.

  21. B-man 2.0 says:

Is Dubya Bush out of his F%^%^ing mind!!!! He creates Homeland Security (yah vol) then he wants to allow six U.S. ports to be acquired and run by Dubai Ports World, a state-owned business in the United Arab Emirates.

Can anyone say “Dirty Bomb”? Can anyone say “infiltration”? Can anyone say Jack Bauer?

KING BUSH THE SECOND should have been the brunt of your Prez Day fiasco, not Dole.

I say throw all those magneto-lights at the White House. Sick. Sick. Sick.

A baby’s bottom has more sense.

Mr. Bush, you mean there is not one American company out there that can provide Port Security.???

Call in the Hell’s Angels, they’ll do the job.

Ok. Back to the Pillow talk.
Just had to get that off my chest.

  22. george says:

I imagine the air must have been filled with little dust mites from all the funky pillows that were brought to the occaision. It seems as though all those little mites found new homes after all! Movin on up… to a castle in the skyyyy… Movin on up!

    Yuck…

  23. Drew,

So you have confirmed that Rocket Boom does censor its user forum. Thanks.

Also, since said censored, being non-profane, non-x-rated, et al, Rocket Boom does censor based on what its subjectivity deems to be un-Rocket-Boom….like House on Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC).

Again, does Rocket Boom inform its investors that it censors its forum?

  24. Ethan says:

Wow, it’s great to live in a country where this (pillow fight) is possible! Too bad I live in Atlanta, and organizing something like this would pretty much be impossible here, I think.

Dear “FreeSpeech Official” … you have no right to free speech here. If they don’t want people to hear from you, they don’t have to. Start your own video blog, pay for its hosting, and make your own rules.

  25. this kind of activities as pillow fightings are great, if yesterday’s bytes fight was solved by a pillow fight, besides amanda ending as a hen (because she would have been covered by the feathers after all the discharge over her), all would have become friends and some perhaps continuing that battle under the covered eyes of God, oh my God!!!

  26. Ethan Trewhitt,

I agree I have no right to free speech here. Just as those artists who were thwarted by the Black Lists of the 1950′s had a right to have their films produced, distributed, etc.

I am simply asking a question.

Does Rocket Boom inform its investors that it censors its forum?

  27. tycobrahe says:

Dear FreeSpeach Official. It’s like this. There is a big difference between knowing that there is a party going on and getting invited to it. There are just some people in life that get asked to leave. That is the prerogative of the host of the party. Nothing personal, mind you, but I bet you’ve been on the wrong side of the rope line lots of time in your life.

  28. Free speech is a right the government guarantees to its citizens, it is not something citizens grant other citizens. Likewise, censorship is when a government or church denies citizens or its members the right to speak.

That is not to say that it is always good when citizens deny other citizens to speak in the public part of their private home, but the right that is being denied is not called free speech, nor is the denial called censorship.

Also, FreeSpeech Official, you seem to be an ardent proponent of the sort of speech-noise of which the sole purpose is to drown out actual speech. If I were inclined, as you so obviously are, to pervert the meaning of words, then I would have to conclude that you yourself are involved in “censorship,” because by “shouting” you are denying others the chance to be heard, effectively cancelling out their “free speech”.

  29. Black Eagle says:

I insist i never think i was censored. However, my deleted post was answering the first poster about when he said he wasn’t able to see the video. I just said that perhaps the video was not still uploaded to the server. My post was deleted, but the first poster got his post intact. I just was asking why.

Anyhow, my post was not “spam, over trolling, x-rated, or other offensive” and i am not “overly crazy” or a “troll”, and i do not appreciate being suggested that i am. My post was deleted for other reasons i don’t -and, certainly, don’t want now- understand.

I am a recent viewer or RB and in the boards i’ve seen positive AND negative comments, so i don’t think this is a Cuban “paradise” for the freedom thinking.

  30. rocketboomer says:

OMIGOD – Did you people EVEN consider the environmental impact of the pillow fight? Who’s going to pick up all the feathers? What if innocent pigeons choke? How many geese died in order to make this senseless pillow fight possible?

OK I’M TOTALLY KIDDING. Just taking a jab at the earthworms who normally pipe up and get their “feathers” ruffled. I thought it was FUN and I laughed out loud.

    Thanks- Jen in Colorado

  31. Amanda
I have been a fan of Rocketboom since you have appeared on Tivo. I enjoy your humor and visit the links you post for followup info and find them educational. But I was disappointed when I just viewed yesterdays edition. I didn’t see the point in changing the Pledge of Allegiance. Don’t think I am a flag waving Bible thumping republican, but the last thing we need is less God in this world. No matter what your persuasion, if you enjoy the freedom this country has afforded us showing some respect for the principles which gave us these freedoms I think is only proper. Amanda, Amanda, Amanda.

  32. Jon says:

sorry, As I was saying, I love rocketboom but yesterday’s was plain gay. I mean how long did it take to film that bullshit? I pretty much felt that it was just stupid. Seriosly you, Amanda, are just a little retarded sometimes. I cant imagine anyone actually getting a laugh out of yesterdays. No it did not “offend me” but I know that it had to have offended someone. Any way I hope to see an improvement tomorrow. -Jon (9th grader) oh i am a Christian but hey, im not a jew

  33. Gary says:

y’know, if you think you’re being censored on any website, you have complete freedom to create your own website where you can write almost anything you want.

this is Manda’s and Drew’s house; they built it and its theirs. in your house you play by your rules; in their house you play by their rules. if that’s unacceptable, you play somewhere else.

  34. So is NYC trying to catch up with San Francisco on its hip factor – has public pillow fighting jumped the shark already?!?!

My office has moved on to re-programming dancing, singing hamsters so you can pay to annoy your co-workers… now that’s fun!

  35. Ted says:

Seems like everyone I know who has fired up GarageBand to kill an evening always starts with “Exotic Sarod”. My first project involved E.S., some world drums, and two loops I recorded on my trusty cheap violin for an stunning 49-second track…

  36. Byshyp says:

For some reason, that wasn’t as exciting as I would have liked it to be. It was more like a motivational speech I was forced to attended where the speaker made everyone get up and hit balloons. There was a point to it, but I don’t remember, regardless, everyone was awkwardly hitting the balloons around the room and timidly giggling and smiling.

    The music was great though!

  37. actually L-E-C-G-in-S-V, if anybody was “catching up”, it was San Francisco to Toronto, where our first pillow fight was in November. However, I think we are really just catching up to the 1800′s, when pillow fighting seems to have originated.

  38. Dennis says:

What has the world come to; we have pillow fights, jelly beans and smart mobs fucking like bunnies. Smart mobs have intelligence beyond the ordinary. They are being used to predict market forces. Individuals or any basic unit component following a very simple set of rules, in combination with many others form complex patterns. Chaos mathematics describes these patterns. They generally follow basic laws of Newtonian physics up to a certain point and then go into what we call a chaotic state in which their behavior can no longer be predicted using ordinary means. It is the old “when the smoke from a cigarette starts to curl” thing from Jurassic Park. From the cellular level these interactions appear to be viral in nature. Viruses are like memes. If we forget for a moment about our personal bias towards viruses, they are little sets of information that when they hit a critical mass take on entirely different characteristics. Smart mobs can predict how many jelly beans will be in a big jar. While chaos math describes these interactions and the patterns, the meta-patterns, or the macro view of the situation is described by fractal math. Thoreau wrote about the spring thaw at Walden Pond. He noticed the way the ice was cracking. Ice cracks in the same pattern as does lightning viewed in time lapse, as does traffic viewed from above at stop speed. The same patters of river deltas can be observed in the veins of leaves or in capillaries in the body. They are all fractal in nature. Fibonacci was a 13th century Italian mathematician. The Fibonacci sequence is F n = F n-2 + F n-1. It describes fractal patterns in nature: most notably a nautilus shell, the patterns of sunflowers, the growth of pine trees, and the rate at which bunnies multiply. Smart mobs fucking like bunnies. Now there is an idea.

  39. Hat4pooh says:

    Larry,

I actually had to listen twice to realize that Amanda had definitely left the word “God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance. Point being does it really need to be there? It sounded like we’re one nation, with liberty and justice for all. I believe in a higher power also, but aren’t we really just one nation? Way to go ‘Manda proving that it is all just semantics really anyway. Plus, do you think George dumya really had God in mind when he decided to send troops to Iraq? Does God want our nation which “lives under her” to go and kill those, who might run their “nation under their God” differently than us? Not any God I know of except maybe G Dumbya. Rock on Rocketboom!!!
