You know, I think this is the best casual friday ever.
It just gives me such a warm feeling inside to see you guys suceed. You’ve provided so much enjoyment for all of us over the last year and a bit, and I’m overjoyed to see you get some of the reward you deserve.

Fantastic! It may be twisted, but I’m actually looking forward to checking out the proven creativity of the show applied to pitching product. Meet the New Box, same as the Old Box, but NEW … and now, with Satan-Inside(tm)! Brilliant! Now if only FireAnt would work on TabletPC (see link to the whiny dialog box), I’d be dialed in for my daily dose of RB Post Roll Commerce (RB-PRC) in STYLE.
I can’t wait till internet video goes mainstream either! OMG! And “the man” starts to regulate it. That will be great.

I definitely think we are seeing the emergence of of the next major media revolution. The fact that you can generate $40k to advertise on your vlog should give the traditional media some sleepless nights.
Vlogs are going to be serious competition to the pablum served up on TV. I look forward to the daily episodes of Rocketboom more than the drivel served up on the tube.
You will be remembered as the pioneers of this new media.

Amen to making vlogging more mainstream. When mass produced books were introduced, did the trendsetters oppose it? It doesn’t matter! This is just one more way to convey content. I agree with the sound nazi though. There’s a huge echo. Quality sound doesn’t require much bandwidth, so I think you should focus some attention on echo cancelling and better sound encoding.

I am happy for you guys that this RB is paying off…
but, I’m also worried that a giant, 10-foot-square monitor will replace the map. Then, there will be a 3D animated logo. Followed by Fox News-style “BREAKING NEWS” graphics, complete with war music and waving American flags.
By that time, no one will have noticed that Amanda has started doing the show in a full-length mink coat and diamond tiara.
I hope this doesn’t happen.

Congratulations! I think you have just joined the capitalist American system. It feels good to reap a profit, not because of pure greed, but because you worked for it. You have worked hard to make a quality “product” that provides entertainment and enjoyment for millions, well maybe a few hundred thousand. Those profits can be used anyway you want. You can plow the profits back into the business to improve the product or in other ways keep your ability to continue to produce Rocketboom the way you want. That’s the way it is supposed to work. Anyway, you should feel good. Again, Congratulations! –P.S. will you actually have anything left over after taxes up there?

RB is a great job, and it deserves to pe paid somehow. I’d expected you guys receive not jsut 40 but 500K, if that guy get one million for pixels, your talent is priceless. All this talk about taxes - by the time you get through the expenses, the loans you’ve made to Rocketboom via your own guaranteed payments, etc, you won’t be paying any tax on this money… until it’s 40k a week, that is. And that’s a good problem to have.
A big congrats, you’ve managed to set the market price for your advertising where you want it, while limiting the ads to what you want to show. And you’ve allowed us to watch the process, which helps all of us get a foothold on where this is all going. Rocketboom, yea.
I suppose there will be a red pitchfork leaning up against the map shortly. Just to let us know who is boss around here now. Will you be introducing your new partner: Beelzebub to the crowd at SXSW?
He’d be a big hit and I am sure that there are tons of bands down there who would love to light up the soul-faxes if they could. And as i said earlier. You are my heroes for starting to take back the public discourse from mega-corporations like Clear-Channel and Fox News/News Corp. They may have stolen our airwaves, but real people like you are finally giving us a choice of where we get our information and entertainment.
Please don’t feel guilty about advertising. I think you will take some good experimental approaches and make it fun, and people appreciate good, non-intrusive advertising. And there’s nothing wrong with good old fashioned capitalism, go buy some fun new production gear, and I vote for keeping the cheesy old map!

Congratulations on the EBay auction! You two deserve it with all the hard work you’ve put in. I agree with those who say you shouldn’t change the show too much. It’s great the way it already is; the low budget, creative, zany feel gives your show its charm. I also like the idea of you guys creating the commercials yourself. That ensures viewers will watch the commercials, and then you can command similar rates for future commercials on Ebay. Well done.
