  3. That house actually has has 250,000 Christmas lights on it. Read more in a recent Boston Globe article, Keeping alive these many lights of Christmas. Some of his neoghbors aren’t too happy.

Watch the Carol and Steve Show, Spectacular Christmas Lights, to see a little more of the house.

  11. 250,000 Christmas lights is a nice start, but if you really want to view wretched excess in holiday wattage, Jennings Osborn is your man. His house had over 2 million Christmas lights until 1995, at which time the Arkansas state supreme court made him take it down. It was creating huge traffic problems. He moved a portion of the display to Walt Disney World and the rest was given to other venues.

  12. I would like to say Happy Christmas to you ALL.
But please, why can we no longer use the C word. What is it with this ‘happy holidays’ nonsense?
Holidays is when I go to Greece in July.
    December 25th is Christmas!
Just enjoy it whatever your faith. (Or ignore it if you are more so inclined,) but whatever you do, don’t try and persuade me that what I have called Christmas for 58 years is actually something called ‘The Holidays!’ Sheesh…
All the best to you all.

  23. The surreal and, at the present time inanimate spirit of Mergatroid, actually the “thing” that caused some atoms on prebiotic, archean earth to form into the very first molecules of biological life during the Proterozoic eon, this “thing” “wants” you good people reading this post of mine …? I’m fairly certain of the notion that “IT,” whatever “IT” is, intends for all the good people and fans of Rocketboom to enjoy the holiday season of 2006-2007.Mergatroid will live …!

  27. Merry Christmas seems to be a difficult utterance for some. More appropriate respect for other religious holidays would entail offering specific words of well wishing on the dates of the particular holiday. What’s wrong with “Merry Christmas” on the last show before Christmas? Rather, RB chooses to fail us and cop out with the bland “Happy Holidays” wishes. I expected so much more from this usually insightful group…

  28. I imagine it’s because not all of us at Rocketboom celebrate Christmas. When it’s Christmas itself, I’m more than happy to say Merry Christmas to my Christian friends, or if people say it to me first, even though I don’t celebrate it, just as I would try to say say Happy Hanukkah to Jewish friends and Eid Mubarak to Muslim friends, and so on. But that adds up to a lot of holidays, including ones whose days sometimes overlap - like Kwanzaa and Eid this year. So when addressing a broad audience that isn’t religiously monolithic, I still think it’s better to say Happy Holidays.

But that’s what’s great about the Internet - you can choose to wish whatever you want. So happy holidays, everyone.
