At last…no one can say they were first…
Bonjour,
very good show today.
Joanne, you are resplendent (like the sunlight).
S.
Field reports by contributors are fine, but it’s days like today when I really enjoy Rocketboom…when Joanne is the central focus of the show.
When and if she goes, I go. (Unless her replacement is equally hot & alluring.)
I have to go the bathroom and take a Wii.
Why are you only promoting those crappy sites like Myspace?
Good evil laugh.
Slow newsday, but Joanne still makes it happen.
Does PETA have a division to protect the poor plastic honey bear bottles being treated in such a horrible way?
I posted this late last night, so I gather most of you didn’t see it.
And today again, no mention of the Weblog Award Contest going on from either Drew or Joanne.
Well I am re-posting last night’s post if anybody is interested. Seems RB isn’t. Wonder why??? Really do wonder why???
They had only 52 votes yesterday & today there are 72, so I guess a few of you did see my post.
Here is what I wrote last last:
Drew I’m surprised you didn’t mention that Rocketboom is nominated for best video blog or that we should vote.
Have something against this particular award?
http://2006.weblogawards.org/2006/12/best_video_blog.php
well I cast my vote for RB even though one of your European shrinks has me on the couch night and day.
must be the time difference
Voting ends December 15th!!!
Oh one other thing, you are allowed to vote each day!
Only 52 votes for RB?
350,000 viewers?
Something doesn’t jive here.
Oh well, just found out about it, so let the voting begin everyone.
Rocketboom losing ground. This stuff is all days (Wii) to years (Death ray) old.
My honeymoon with rocketboom is over and I feel like fraud would be good grounds for divorce.

B-man — Thanks for the heads up. I did go vote for RB, yesterday and again today.
Leron — I know that in each show, Joanne is actually talking directly to me. She won’t say this, because it would upset all the losers who have a crush on her. I can tell, though.
Me and my posse are off to vote again.
This time I’m not tellin’
Hey Zack, I’ve known for some time now that Joanne only speaks to you. Walter Crespo told me, which is why he stopped posting.
B-man — That other host used to talk directly to me as well. She had a secret signal to me: she would flip her hair.
What ever happened to her, anyway? She took it pretty hard when she found out I like Joanne better. I hope she doesn’t do something desperate, like pitch a show to HBO.
Good episode today. Congrats on waiting so long before doing the holiday thing.
Well, I hate to gossip. But if you really want to know where the other host is, check out http://www.abcnews.com
http://www.abcnews.com? That’s so Old Media. I guess she fell harder than I feared.
Yep, it looks very slick and I would say it’s kind of new/old media. She seems to have a lot more resources behind her and they’re pushing the Hell out of it. On the Home page of the ABC website it reads AC..ON ABC with her picture. Hope she does well. I don’t think it’s selling out, I think it’s called getting a job.
Steve, I think you’re the first commenter today to use the phrase “selling out” in connection with the old girl. Me, I’m a fan of capitalism.
I’m just glad to see she landed on her feet. It can be so hard to get a break from Old Media when you’re a curvy young blonde with a tight shirt and liberal political convictions.
Hey guys,
Don’t really like the out of sync voice, it’s a little irritating… Other than that, great show today.
Cheers
Michal
Drew since you began Rocketboom you often mentioned how you wanted to create an interactive community and dialogue with your viewers, which you seem to have been doing less and less of these days. I asked a simple question regarding the Weblog Awards and still no response. So much for your interactive “new media” community.
I’m glad Amanda got a NEW JOB!
My intuition tells me it’s just a starting point for bigger things down the road.
And that new SUV must be from the 49% share of Rocketboom she still owns.
Hey, Thom…
I’m first.
Great eye tracking at the beginning of the show!
Joanne/Drew, watch Amanda’s vlog and, whatever she does, don’t do it! The best part of her segment was the 30 second Folgers commercial upfront.
Drew I only brought it up because in the past RB always gave us the the heads up on vlog award contests and encouraged us to vote. Often in a comical fashion. It was the silence this time round I didn’t understand and questioned. Other nominees are encouraging their entourage to vote as I checked a few blogs just for the hell of it. Well, thanks for responding.
About tomorrow, just wondering about the 6 hour time difference…
Bonne chance!
Lately I have been straying to other online pastures (namely the show with zefrank) and thought I’d give Rocketboom one last shot. Sadly, today’s show gave me no reason to come back, except… renewed discussion of Amanda, and news of her new video blog! I’m glad I came today, but I don’t expect to return anytime soon. Good luck, Rocketboom. I’ll miss you.
Drew — Thanks for the kudos. Reasonable people can disagree about this kind of thing.
Regarding the former host: she has a capacity for ruthless self-promotion that would make Paris Hilton blush, so I think she’s going to come out quite well. I don’t much care for ingrates, but I see little evidence that ingratitude is an insurmountable obstacle in the entertainment industry.
My hunch is that without Rocketboom as a launch pad (pun intended), she would still be just another attractive, talented, nameless actress auditioning for break-in parts selling toothpaste. Don’t hold your breath waiting for her to acknowledge this.
Nab, awards shows are the way each industry strokes, promotes and legitimizes itself. These awards drill themselves into your sub-conscious like a worm hides in the ground and this is their raindance, so to speak. Ever hear of the Academy Awards? The Emmys. The Foreign Press Award? The Nobel Peace Prize? The Pulitzer. The Tonys? etec. etc.
The Advertising Industry alone has a million award shows to show themselves off to their clients
and to steal them (the clients) from one another. Yes, it’s all one big croc. And new media follows the game rules of old media, becuase all media is run by advertising dollars in the end. Yes sir, Billy Bob. Only porn sites seems to generate a subscriber base that runs their sites.
Funny how the Vloggies featuring Prince was such a big deal last year. The show was as Pretentious as he was.
So in the end, I guess I agree with you, even though I mentioned this particular award contest. Even the majority of Art Festivals have winners and awards. It’s been a staple since the invention of food. Remember that bison painted on a cave wall in Southern France? Well, I think it won the Apocolypto Award. Grunt. Grunt.
New and slightly improved,
the truth about 9/11 for non-ostriches.
